The Interstellar Queen of Scavengers

Chapter 1349: Chapter 1349: Narrow Paths Cross

”Charles still has this trick up his sleeve?”

”Surprising.”

”But it really gives us a breather.”

”Exactly!” A faint smile appeared on Lou’s face as he continued, ”200 people working in coordination, as long as we hold our position, we can definitely wait for reinforcements.”

”Agreed.”

”That’s right.”

”Great.”

...

Lou’s tightly furrowed brow gradually relaxed. Looking at everyone, his tone shed some of its heaviness, as he said, ”The enemy’s target from the start should always be the Array Flag. By then, the 200 defenders in Charles’s camp, collaborating with our main force, can mount a two-pronged attack on the enemy, making sure they have no way out.”

Wei Yun and others nodded in strong agreement.

Wei Yun said, ”Time is of the essence, Squad Leader, we should hurry.”

Lou thought for a moment, also feeling it was the right move, but he still carefully calculated in his mind to ensure that this full-scale operation wouldn’t lead to any major problems.

If there was any issue, it was that his side was still facing hunger.

They had sent people out to find edible wild vegetables, but they hadn’t returned yet. In the pitch darkness, it probably wouldn’t be easy.

Therefore, they’d have to enter the battlefield on empty stomachs.

Which meant they had to act swiftly and decisively.

Lou furrowed his brow in thought. After a while, he looked up at everyone and said loudly, ”It’s better to act early than late. Now, pass on my order: set out immediately.”

The messenger quickly left.

Soon after.

In just a few minutes, Lou led his main force to set off.

...

Elsewhere, Ji You was huddled behind a rock, continuously rubbing her hands to prevent her fingers from freezing solid. She hadn’t put her weapon down either, repeatedly caressing the folding knife. Every now and then, she would take down the crossbow from her back for inspection.

For instance, to scrape off some ice.

The people next to her were doing the same.

No one dared to stop. In this cold weather, if they stopped, they might freeze or not be able to draw their weapon when needed, which would be embarrassing.

At this point, Ji You asked a nearby teammate, ”How long has it been since the enemy scout returned? They should have already passed on their ’real target’ to Lou by now, right?”

The teammate next to her was the chief intelligence officer. After hearing this, he first gave an accurate time, then added, ”According to prior estimates, Louise Carter and others have already received the message.”

Ji You smiled, ”Then this fat rabbit won’t be escaping.”

The guy said, ”Yes, according to the rear intelligence team, they’ve already set off, expecting to arrive at our location in about 30 minutes.”

As anticipated, Ji You nodded, feeling very satisfied, and then asked, ”Are our tails watching closely?”

”Yes.” The guy’s voice carried a hint of excitement, ”All enemy scouts following us along the way are under our control.”

Ji You said nonchalantly, ”No use, deal with them.”

The guy, upon hearing this, was secretly pleased but still nodded with steadiness to take the order and left.

In fact, he was genuinely overjoyed; dealing with all these enemy scouts meant that the points for executions fell to them, the intelligence officers.

One head, one point.

Points are so enticing that no one would refuse them, so after taking the order, he immediately went to execute it.

Then.

The team continued to remain hidden near this strategically advantageous mountain peak. Ji You had chosen this spot not only because of its strategic position but also because it was within the signal tower’s coverage. This meant they could connect to both on-site teammates and members of their own camp from this location!

”Commander, after checking, Charles brought 216 people to raid us.” Suddenly, someone sent a new communication request, and Ji You, recognizing the incoming number code, accepted it directly. She raised an eyebrow slightly, still speaking calmly, ”Oh? So, he left at least 200 people inside his camp.”

Everyone was taken aback upon hearing this. Two hundred people were no small number; confronting them would be quite challenging. Liu Jia, immediately huffing angrily, said, ”Such cunning! If we weren’t careful and charged in headlong, we’d surely crash against a brick wall.”

”Exactly, it’s clear they intend to make trouble.”

”We’re lying in wait for the rabbit, not realizing others are waiting for us, too.”

...

After exchanging a few remarks, they all looked at Ji You.

Ji You, calculating the time in her mind, suddenly said, ”Squads 1 and 2, step forward, and move swiftly to Commander Charles’s camp to link up with He Nu and Gu Peiyuan.”

He Nu and Gu Peiyuan were currently sneaking near the enemy commander camp, having already surveyed the surrounding terrain. However, it was a bit unfortunate that the signal there kept cutting in and out, making real-time communication and coordination impossible.

Thinking of this, Ji You said, ”Once you’ve joined them, immediately put on a show of attacking the enemy camp. It’s night, so things aren’t clearly visible. Make a big enough sound to give the impression of an overwhelming force.”

Squads 1 and 2 took the order and headed off immediately.

Then.

Ji You continued, ”Everyone else, remain as you are.”

Which meant they continued to stay hidden.

In the pitch-black night, they rubbed their fingers and gently tapped their feet, keeping their bodies active to prevent freezing.

Tick-tock went the time.

second.

seconds.

seconds.

...

Lou led his main force, racing ahead while cautiously concealing their tracks. Just as they were about to approach the mountain’s checkpoint, they suddenly heard piercing sounds of battle and explosions.

Lou halted.

The others stopped, too.

No one spoke.

The entire group’s atmosphere thus took on an inexplicable heaviness.

The army paused only for a moment, yet many shivered from the cold. Even Lou, lacking a full meal, felt his body heat dissipating, with a chilling cold sensation creeping over his body in the blink of an eye.

The front had already engaged.

The checkpoints along the way were deserted; there was no one, or if there were, they had likely been dealt with by Ji You.

Go now?

Or wait to see how things develop?

However, the sounds of battle from afar, carried by the wind, grew increasingly intense, showing that the situation had become tightly knit.

After some thought, Lou, exercising caution, decided to temporarily station the forces at this natural checkpoint until the battle reached fever pitch. Only then would he intervene.

Thus——
