The Interstellar Queen of Scavengers

Chapter 1329: Chapter 1329: Cooking Porridge

The person responsible for the military base of the 5th Group is also a student of the Top Ten Military Schools of the Alliance. He lacks neither ability nor intelligence; however, he is the kind of well-rounded talent that excels in everything but stands out in nothing.

Therefore, he is a very qualified and reliable subordinate.

Every leader likes to employ this kind of subordinate.

Louise Carter is no exception.

Otherwise, Louise wouldn’t entrust him with the important task of guarding the grain, and if the plan goes smoothly, this could be one of the places to bury Ji You.

Even if they can’t kill Ji You, she certainly won’t have it easy.

The person responsible for this military base of the 5th Group has also excellently completed the tasks Louise assigned, managing the entire base seamlessly.

Louise looked at the other person’s slightly shocked face and said, ”You should return to Charles’s side.”

The base’s director—Kong Yang, with black hair and eyes, his skin an extremely healthy wheat color, has a bright white smile and is a very cheerful guy. But at the moment, his brows are slightly furrowed, and his astonishment couldn’t be hidden as he asked, ”Why?”

Between Charles and Louise, Kong Yang had actually wavered and hesitated, but Louise’s actions dispelled his indecision, and he was the first military base director to pledge allegiance to Louise.

Now, Louise wants him to return to Commander Charles’s side...

Kong Yang furrowed his eyebrows and said, ”I don’t think going back to him is a good decision.”

In other words, he refused.

Seeing his unmistakable resistance, Louise smiled and said, ”We need someone on the commander’s side too.”

”Hmm?” Kong Yang was slightly stunned, then a light flashed in his eyes: ”You mean—”

To become a mole by Charles’s side?

Louise didn’t specify, merely looked at him, and said solemnly, ”You’re the most suitable.”

Though Kong Yang was the first to defect to Louise, it wasn’t in the open; to outsiders, their relationship seemed strained, and his decision to serve Louise appeared as mere submission to circumstance.

Therefore, if Charles wanted to attack and dismantle Louise’s forces, Kong Yang would be an excellent target.

Little did they know—

Louise was prepared for Charles to stir up trouble upon returning from the enemy’s camp.

It was put into use.

Kong Yang immediately straightened up and said, ”I understand.”

Louise said, ”Charles’s current situation appears fine, but his crisis is already out in the open—

Need people? No people.

Need weapons? No weapons.

Need food? No food.

Moreover, his subordinates are fragmented, and external enemies are eyeing him covetously, so—” Louise paused briefly, looked at Kong Yang, and said, ”Charles surely won’t last long.”

Kong Yang certainly understood, and precisely because of this, he firmly chose Louise Carter.

Kong Yang’s brows slightly furrowed as he said, ”Squad Leader, do you really think we just need to keep waiting for the enemy to take the bait?”

Louise didn’t answer directly but posed a question: ”The spy from the enemy camp—Ji You, infiltrated us from the start. Our key base layouts, personnel defense status, and geographical conditions... All this crucial intelligence is already transparent to our enemies and completely exposed. In the short term, there’s no way to change our military fortifications and personnel deployments, so—do you think the enemy, knowing such important details, will continue to give us ample time to adjust?”

Kong Yang’s heart sank: ”In my position, I’d never give the enemy time; I’d lead the troops to attack immediately.”

Louise replied, ”Exactly.”

Louise believed that even if the opponent was the unconventional Ji You, she would still seize a good opportunity to attack.

Though Kong Yang felt their situation was very bleak, seeing Louise still confidently discussing, he steadied his own heart, saying, ”So we just need to bide our time and wait for them to come?”

At that time, who wins or loses is still unknown.

Louise narrowed his eyes and said, ”Before dealing with external threats, we must first stabilize internally. Our internal division will definitely lead to a last showdown, so Charles’s side is entrusted to you; notify me with any news.”

Kong Yang’s demeanor also became serious, saying, ”Squad Leader, I’ll lead the team to set off immediately.”

Louise said, ”I trust you.”

Kong Yang took roughly two-thirds of his military base personnel and set off for Commander Charles’s camp, temporarily leaving that aside.

Louise took over Kong Yang’s position and focused entirely on fortifications. Ji You would certainly be lured by the bait of the grain, but Louise believed that although this battle is crucial, its scale shouldn’t be particularly large.

What Louise valued greatly was that Ji You might personally lead the team.

Then—

In the cold wind, Louise waited for a long, long time.

Meanwhile.

Ji You sat within the commander camp, the commander camp being the only somewhat decent location within this barren, resource-poor competition area, at least equipped with decent tables, chairs for dining, a bed for sleeping, an earthen stove for cooking, as well as complete sets of ladles, pots, bowls, and chopsticks...

Ji You squatted beside a fire, adding firewood to the earthen stove while complaining, ”Why is this smoke so thick? Zhang Jian, the firewood you gathered is too terrible!”

Cheng Haoyue’s face darkened, and he remained silent.

Ji You said, ”Zhang Jian! Say something.”

Cheng Haoyue’s temples throbbed: ”I’m not Zhang Jian!”

Ji You chuckled: ”Haha, almost forgot, you’re Cheng Haoyue.”

Cheng Haoyue: ”...”

Ji You said, ”Cheng Haoyue, the firewood you collected is really terrible. Can’t you find some dry firewood?” These logs are all wet, with some just cut directly from the trees, causing excessive smoke.

Cheng Haoyue felt wronged, ”Where am I supposed to find dry wood for you? Please don’t make this difficult, okay? Is the porridge ready yet? I’m literally starving.”

He really was in a pitiful state, having not eaten before the competition because he eagerly wanted to comprehend the competition area, rushed in impetuously, and then found no way out after entering, making him want to eat everything he saw, longing to fill his stomach with anything edible.

Right now, the thin porridge in the pot was already emanating the aroma of rice, an irresistible scent.

Cheng Haoyue clutched his stomach and said, ”Can I have a taste first?”

Ji You rolled her eyes, ”Haven’t you already tasted enough?”

”Ahem...” Cheng Haoyue overlooked the fact that it was his 10th taste and said, ”I swear, this is the last bite; after having this one, I won’t taste it first again.”

Ji You ignored him, leisurely took out some wild onions, sliced them with a folding knife, throwing them into the porridge. Instantly, a mixture of wild onion fragrance and rice aroma enveloped the nose, making one’s mouth water unabashedly. Ji You discreetly swallowed, yet remained calm on the surface, saying, ”This porridge, like fighting a war, requires slow simmering, can’t rush it.”
