The Interstellar Queen of Scavengers

Chapter 1343: Chapter 1343: Balding Lou

When Cheng Haoyue temporarily took over the position of acting commander, his heart was filled with worry, tension, restlessness, anxiousness, and didn’t expect that—

In this role as acting commander, he was almost idle to the point where weeds could grow on his head. It was only then that Cheng Haoyue understood why Ji You dared to casually throw the responsibility to him.

This—

There’s basically nothing to do at all, it’s not even worth mentioning that it was thrown to him Cheng Haoyue, it could be thrown to a small cat, a small dog... cough cough... anyway, anyone could do it.

The only thing Cheng Haoyue needs to do now is to regularly listen to the reports from the staff stationed at the outposts around the Commander Camp.

At this moment, the contact rang, and Cheng Haoyue immediately connected: ”Talk.”

”Squad Leader Cheng, there are currently no signs of the enemy.” Because Cheng Haoyue did not allow everyone to call him ’acting commander’, everyone still called him Squad Leader Cheng.

Upon hearing this, Cheng Haoyue said, ”Based on estimates, the enemy’s scouts might appear nearby in about 30 minutes. Stay alert, and if you spot the enemy, there’s no need to report, just shoot directly.”

”Understood.”

Since the enemy dared to send scouts to die, there’s no reason not to accept them?

Accept!

Not only accept but accept as many as possible!

After finishing speaking, Cheng Haoyue added, ”Remember, report immediately if anything unusual is found.”

”Yes.”

The communication ended.

Upon hearing the report from the outpost personnel, Li Shanshui couldn’t help but feel a bit envious, and said, ”If I had known, I would have applied to guard the outpost.”

Currently, the entire 5th battalion, except for the personnel tracking the front, everyone is idle with nothing to do.

The outpost is arranged with elite soldiers, strong and sturdy, powerful, well-fed and energetic, once there’s a need for battle, they can immediately charge with their weapons.

Cheng Haoyue said, ”I also want to go guard the outpost.”

Currently, only the outpost has the possibility of earning points. Although already turning losses into profits from negative points, Cheng Haoyue still does not find his points too many.

After muttering a bit, Cheng Haoyue added, ”I actually want to go to the enemy camp to kill the enemy.” Although it might face greater danger, crisis often comes with opportunity!

Li Shanshui responded, ”Let’s earnestly focus on what we are responsible for. Although we can’t enter the enemy camp, our current task is also very important.”

Li Shanshui’s mindset was very stable. Ever since he stepped into the arena, besides his own territory, he had never been to the enemy camp, faithfully designing and setting traps according to instructions. At this moment, Li Shanshui was also convinced that since Commander Ji You didn’t send them out, it meant it was more necessary for them here.

Having heard this, Cheng Haoyue simply grunted and didn’t continue to complain or express discontent.

...

On the other side.

Lou was a bit at his wits’ end with his side.

The frontline personnel from their side had a conflict with Charles’ frontline personnel, and Charles’ side lost 2 people, blaming everything on them.

They even accused them of stealing several hundred pounds of food.

Lou was completely dumbfounded.

Cough cough...

Although he indeed stole some food, it was only 100 pounds, not nearly as much.

Moreover—

Charles lost 2 teammates, but they lost 5! All 5 were killed by Charles’ people. When Lou heard this news at that time, he could feel something was wrong!

Charles was preparing to use a diversion tactic!

The development of the situation fully validated Lou’s suspicion. Charles kept throwing accusations, leaving Lou unable to defend himself.

They even suspected Lou of secretly hoarding around 500 pounds of food. Under such circumstances, Lou gritted his teeth and said, ”Open the warehouse, distribute the food!”

Wei Yun worriedly asked, ”Isn’t it too early to distribute the food now?” Wei Yun had become Lou’s confidante; she knew more than anyone about the food warehouse’s actual situation. It was not even 500 pounds, only 100 pounds in total. There were over 400 members, distributing it would leave each person with barely two taels of grain.

If they add more water to cook in a big pot, it could be filling for a meal, but what about the future?

What about tomorrow’s grain?

There are still 24 hours to go, how to continue fighting without eating or drinking?

So, this 100 pounds absolutely can’t be consumed all at once.

Wei Yun said this, looking worriedly at Lou.

Lou furrowed his brows. He initially wanted to distribute it all to make sure everyone was well-fed, but stopped his words halfway through, finally saying, ”Distribute half first.”

That amounts to 50 pounds.

This food might be enough to get everyone half-full.

Seeing Wei Yun’s slightly pained expression, Lou said, ”Everyone has been starving until now, if we don’t eat, if the enemy suddenly attacks, our situation will be dangerous.”

He couldn’t control Charles’ troops, but the ones following him must eat.

Wei Yun thought for a moment, and had to nod: ”Okay, I will give the order immediately.”

Lou said, ”Quickly.”

With Wei Yun giving the order, the food at the 5th battalion military base where Lou currently was, was soon being cooked, sending smoke spiraling in the camp.

Lou walked around the base but always felt a bit uneasy. The group demanding an explanation on Charles’ side had already fallen silent, and it seemed they hadn’t shouted for more than ten minutes.

Something’s wrong.

Lou suddenly asked, ”Where are our reconnaissance personnel? Why are those on Charles’ side silent?”

A person quickly stepped forward and said, ”Squad Leader, their people have already left.”

Lou was shocked: ”When did this happen?”

The girl who answered said, ”10 minutes ago.”

Lou said, ”Quickly send a few people to the Commander Camp, quickly!”

The girl looked a bit surprised and asked, ”Squad Leader, is something wrong?”

Lou frowned tightly and said, ”This isn’t like Charles’ style. Since he wanted to shift the conflict onto us, he would cling to us tenaciously. Now that his people suddenly left, something else must have happened. Right, what’s the situation in the enemy camp?”

Without communication equipment, they could only rely on foot to deliver messages, causing significant delays in message transmission. The last time Lou got news from the enemy camp was 10 minutes ago.

The reconnaissance personnel promptly collected information.

Soon.

The girl continued to report, ”Squad Leader, Charles’ troops have all left, none are in the camp.”

Boom—

Lou suddenly felt like he was struck by lightning.

Not in the camp, where could they go? There are only two possibilities, and Charles’ target could only be one of these two:

One is the enemy camp, where Charles unreasonably continues to raid the enemy.

The second is Lou himself.

In this extreme environment, either possibility is absolutely not a good thing for Lou, and if Charles crossed over to the enemy camp to launch a raid, it’s even more dangerous than if he came to raid Lou!

Thinking about it, Lou felt that the chances of Charles’ people entering the enemy camp were higher. For a moment, Lou couldn’t help but pull at his hair and said, ”Prepare for battle!”

Wei Yun and others were shocked: ”Now?”

Lou took a deep breath and said, ”If we don’t prepare now, we won’t have a chance to pick up our knives. Hurry! The enemy’s target is us!!!”
