Super Tycoon: I Beg You, Stop Pulling Stunts

Chapter 300: Chapter 222: Jackie Chan’s Lunch, Wang Hao’s Task

Gao Haitao had left to take Professor Su home, so his car wasn’t available. However, there were other cars in the lot, and since Lin Chu hadn’t been drinking, he could go wherever he wanted.

Tonight, he actually felt a little urge to go to the hotel and see Gu Jiayan.

But he held back on instinct and managed to resist.

’It’s strange.’

’Some women make me want to crawl back into bed with them because they have amazing bodies, gorgeous faces, or are just genuinely slutty.’

’But she’s not like that. With her, there’s just this feeling of peace when I hold her as we sleep.’

This was a first for the ”post-Li Yaoyao” Lin Chu.

He sucked in a sharp breath.

’Is my concrete heart finally starting to show some cracks?’

But the more he felt this way, the more ”reserved” he became.

This reserve stemmed from two reasons.

’First, I want to take a closer look and see if I’m really falling for her.’

’Second, there’s an objective rule in relationships: get too close and they lose respect for you; stay too distant and they grow resentful.’

For a battle-hardened scumbag like him, this was practically an instinctive maneuver.

After all, Lin Chu was thoroughly sick of women who get arrogant the moment you spoil them.

’Fuck!’

’If I were a completely heartless bastard, things would be so much easier.’

’I miss the old me.’

’Back then, I’d exploit every opening, leave no stone unturned, pull up my pants and walk away, all with a heart of stone.’

’It’s true what they say: a beautiful woman’s arms are a hero’s tomb.’

’Fuck!’

’When I remembered she called me her ”hero” last night, I suddenly felt a twinge of panic.’

’She’s not going to be my ’tomb,’ is she?’

That thought instantly sobered him up.

...

Sitting alone behind his desk, Lin Chu picked up the celebrity list again. He scanned the names—all of them familiar, from A-listers to B- and C-listers.

Jay Chou, Liu Dehua, Zhou Runfa, Liu Yifei, Yang Mi... and so on. Their appearance fees were all several million, give or take.

Huh?

Suddenly, Lin Chu saw a name that made his heart pound.

A thrill.

A genuine thrill.

Jackie Chan!

He was considered top-tier as well, with an appearance fee of 6 million for a single day.

’Celebrities really rake it in,’ Lin Chu grumbled to himself as he quickly circled the name.

He wasn’t in the habit of idolizing celebrities, but when it came to how to be a true ”brother” to his friends, Jackie Chan was something of a spiritual guide and a role model.

When he went to the Middle East to film, a Prince personally mobilized resources to give him his full support. What kind of influence was that? What incredible charisma?

That wasn’t something you could achieve just by being rich and famous.

’I have to meet him.’

’I absolutely have to meet him.’

’I’ll just think of it as my own ”Lunch with Jackie Chan.” Much cheaper than lunch with Buffett.’

’Circle it.’

’The others are negotiable, but he *has* to be there!’

The golf club’s reputation must be pretty solid. To be able to invite a star of his caliber for a grand opening...

A sense of anticipation grew in Lin Chu’s heart.

’Also... rumor has it he’s... huge. I mean, they don’t call him ”Bedroom Dragon” for nothing. If I get a chance, I’ll have to sneak a peek. How does he measure up to me?’

A wicked thought suddenly crossed Lin Chu’s mind.

Just then, his phone rang, startling him.

It was a video call from his dad.

He answered.

He glanced at the screen. His dad flipped the camera around, and Lin Chu saw that he was drinking. His uncle was across from him, already passed out drunk on the table.

”What are you doing, trying to build up his tolerance? I swear, I don’t know what to do with you!”

Lin Chu grumbled, exasperated.

The difference in their alcohol tolerance was like a pro versus an amateur.

”Haha, it’s not my fault! He’s the one who came to me saying he wanted to raise chickens. I said yes, and then he insisted on drinking. Next thing you know, he’s passed out. And he was drinking my Maotai! Is that any way to ask for a favor? He didn’t even bring a bottle with him!”

His dad flipped the camera back to himself, grinning boastfully. His face was flushed, and he took a drag from his cigarette with a smug look, blowing out a cloud of smoke.

”How’s Wang Hao been lately?”

”Your uncle was just asking about him.”

”He’s at work, isn’t he?” Lin Chu said casually. ”Everything’s fine. He’ll message me if anything comes up.”

”Alright, well, you keep an eye on him!”

”About the chickens—the first batch, I did a count, and it’s a hundred birds, max. That’s from a few families combined. Just give me a firm date for when you need them, and I’ll butcher them all at once. I’ll give them to you at cost, one hundred a piece. Whatever profit you make is all yours.”

Lin Chu: ...

He was struck by a powerful sense of disconnect.

’Damn it. Hiring one celebrity costs six million, just like that.’

’One hundred chickens, even at the high price of a hundred per bird, is only ten thousand.’

”Send them over,” Lin Chu said. ”I’ll take as many as you’ve got. Send them whenever they’re ready. I’ll transfer you a million as a deposit first.”

”I’ll ask my cousin in a bit.”

Lin Chu suppressed his emotions, showing only his most patient, gentle, and understanding side to his father.

”Great, hahaha! It’s a deal, then. I’m hanging up. Get some sleep. Hey, you want some seal pizzle? I can get some for you.”

His dad roared with laughter. He noticed Lin Chu was still in the office and felt a pang of sympathy for him, but only for a moment.

Lin Chu: ...

”You can keep that for yourself. Thanks, I’m good.”

The call disconnected.

After a moment’s thought, Lin Chu sent a message to his younger cousin, Wang Hao.

”What are you up to?”

It was past ten o’clock at night. Wang Hao was in his dorm, happily starting up a match of PUBG, when he saw the message from Lin Chu and immediately alt-tabbed out of the game.

”In my dorm. Was about to play a game, the match just started.”

He replied honestly.

”Screw the game,” Lin Chu replied quickly. ”Let’s go out. I’ll wait for you in the parking lot. We’ll take your car.”

Wang Hao was completely baffled.

’He had absolutely no idea what his cousin was up to.’

’What’s wrong? Did the Rolls-Royce break down?’

’Or the Lamborghini?’

’Or does he have a mission for me?’

With these thoughts running through his mind, he quickly threw on some clothes and jogged to the parking lot. When he arrived, he found Lin Chu already waiting, the cherry of his cigarette glowing in the darkness.

He unlocked his car with a click of his key fob, its lights flashing. Wang Hao looked at Lin Chu, a mix of nerves and excitement on his face.

After getting in the car, he asked haltingly, ”Cousin, where are we going?”

”I don’t know either.”

”I’m bored.”

”You make the plans. My treat.”

Lin Chu decided to test him a little.

’Let’s see how he’s been doing in the sales department. Has he improved at all?’

It was a small test, but one that could reveal a great deal.

”Uh... how about we go see a movie? There’s a pretty good one out right now, a Mahua FunAge comedy. I just saw a clip on TikTok. I’ll buy the tickets!”

Wang Hao said enthusiastically after a moment of thought.

Lin Chu: ...

He facepalmed wearily.

He heaved a long sigh.

He knew that offering to buy the tickets wasn’t a sign of high EQ; it was just a sign of respect, because Lin Chu was both his cousin and his boss.

’And... two guys going to see a movie at this time of night? Seriously? How did he even come up with that?’

’He really hasn’t improved one bit.’

’I give up.’

”A movie? What the hell,” Lin Chu said. ”Forget it. It’s nothing. You can go back. Have you called your dad recently?”

Lin Chu adopted the stern air of an older cousin and asked authoritatively.

”N-no.”

”Work’s been too busy lately.”

Wang Hao said cautiously, watching Lin Chu’s expression.

”Call him once a day. That’s an order, you hear me? I don’t care what you think about it, you have to do it. Talk for at least twenty-five minutes. That’s your number one priority. Send me a screenshot every day after you’re done.”

Wang Hao was completely stunned.

’What kind of mission is this?’

But he didn’t dare to argue. He said softly, ”Oh, okay.”

”And read more.”

”Read one book a month. You’ll report to me how many pages you read each day, and you’ll also keep a journal. That’s your second task. I’ll give you the book tomorrow.”

Looking at his wimpy, listless posture, Lin Chu started to get angry. He thought for a moment, then spoke again, his tone sharp with irritation.

”Huh?”

”Oh.”

’Wang Hao wanted to object. ’Read books? I’m already working, what’s the point of reading? If I’d been able to focus on my studies back then, I wouldn’t have failed to get into college in the first place.’’

However, seeing that Lin Chu was genuinely angry now, he kept his mouth shut.

Lin Chu: ”From now on, cut ’oh’ out of your vocabulary. Say ’okay,’ ’roger,’ or ’got it’!”

’I have to teach him even these basic communication habits from square one.’

Sigh...

Wang Hao’s first instinct was to say ”oh” again, but he caught himself. ”O-okay.”

Lin Chu stared at him for a moment. Scrawny, short, and completely lacking in energy. ”Third task,” Lin Chu added. ”Running and working out. One hour every day. Half an hour of cardio, half an hour of weights. I’ll have someone set you up with gym access tomorrow.”

’His lack of spirit and timidity are also related to his poor physical condition.’

’A sound mind in a sound body.’

However dense Wang Hao might be, he now realized his cousin was serious about mentoring him.

’It’s just that I’m such a disappointment.’

’These are just the basics, aren’t they?’

He took a deep breath, his eyes slightly red. ”I understand, Cousin. I won’t let you down. I promise to complete my tasks. Every single day.”

A smile finally broke across Lin Chu’s face. ”Good. That’s all, then. Go on, head back. And remember, you report to me every day on all three tasks. Don’t miss a single one. Complete them for a month straight, and you get a ten-thousand-yuan bonus. A whole year, and it’s a hundred-thousand bonus. But if you miss a single task, even for one day, you can get the hell out. You can forget about this job and go find work in some electronics factory.”

Wang Hao mumbled his agreement, but his eyes suddenly lit up with a terrifying intensity.

’What kind of incredible deal was this?’

He was thoroughly fired up now.

’The bonus my cousin was offering was even more than my salary!’

He thanked him, his face flushed, and scrambled out of the car.

Watching his retreating figure, Lin Chu sighed, then couldn’t help but shake his head with a small smile.

—’Now *that’s* what you call being a real mentor, isn’t it?’

’More than that, even.’

’I’m more invested in him than his own father is!’

Lin Chu was curious to see just how much his young cousin could grow in a few months, or a year.
