Super Tycoon: I Beg You, Stop Pulling Stunts

Chapter 290: Chapter 217: You Really Have Nothing at All

Lin Chu really didn’t know much about this newfangled ”low-altitude flight vehicle.”

However, the combination of a new market sector and the allure of high technology was truly captivating.

It wasn’t just because every man dreams of the stars and the sea.

It was also because, let’s be honest, it sounded incredibly cool.

The pursuit of innovation was the pursuit of the future. While it carried high risks, it also promised high rewards.

And in the worst-case scenario...

’As long as this thing can be developed and mass-produced, the price per unit has to be higher than an annual golf club membership, right?’

’Even if I gave them away as gifts, I wouldn’t lose money.’

’Definitely not.’

’Hey, buddy, stuck in traffic? Let me give you a personal aircraft!’

Tsk.

Just imagining the scene brought a smug smile to Lin Chu’s face.

As his imagination ran wild, Lin Chu scrolled through his WeChat contacts, looking for someone who might know something about this field.

Having more friends always opened up more paths.

And he had quite a few friends now.

As for Chen Yuanxing, Lin Chu couldn’t fully trust him yet—neither his character nor his capabilities.

Since he was meeting him for lunch to discuss this very topic, he needed to at least understand the basics first.

He couldn’t let himself be bamboozled.

As he scrolled through the list, his eyes flickered. He spotted a name that was vaguely familiar.

Gu Tong.

A partner at MQ Investment.

He’d met her during his last game at Mission Hills Golf Club. She was a professional investor, a sophisticated and elegant older woman.

He had even invited her to the grand opening of the LC Club, but she’d been out of town on business and couldn’t make it, sending two large floral arrangements instead.

’She must be interested in networking too.’

”What have you been up to? President Gu, have you done any research into the low-altitude flight vehicle sector?”

Lin Chu casually sent her a message, skipping the pleasantries and getting straight to the point.

Time was precious.

’If I just sent a ’You there?’, the woman might think I was trying to hit on her.’

”Wow, President Lin, you’re surprisingly well-informed. What’s on your mind?”

Gu Tong replied quickly, her surprise evident between the lines.

Lin Chu: ”Well-informed? How so?”

He had a vague inkling, but this surely couldn’t be a coincidence.

’As a venture capital firm, they’d be paying the closest attention to new sectors. They’ve probably set their sights on this area already, haven’t they?’

’They’ve got a nose for it, just like a hound.’

”MQ just held a meeting two days ago. We’re predicting that low-altitude flight vehicles will be one of the hottest, fastest-growing sectors in the next five to ten years. We’re currently conducting an industry-wide survey. Headquarters has allocated a one billion US Dollar investment fund to focus on companies with growth potential, and we can add more if needed. What can I do for you, President Lin?”

Gu Tong was very direct.

This wasn’t exactly a trade secret.

After all, their business was ”investing money.” They had to advertise it with fanfare, casting a wide net in the hopes that relevant projects would come knocking. Then they could vet each one individually.

Lin Chu: ”Hahaha, what a coincidence. I’ve been looking into this sector recently myself. This might be a bit bold of me to ask, but could you let me see your internal analysis report?”

They had only met once, so Lin Chu wasn’t sure if he had enough clout to ask for such a favor.

Still, they’d had a good conversation last time. It was worth a shot.

”I can, but you can’t share it with anyone else. I’ll send you the file. You’ll have to request a password to read it, which I’ll approve on my end. It’s set to self-destruct after reading.”

Gu Tong seemed to consider it for about ten seconds before agreeing.

The previous exchange was business, but this was a personal favor.

Of course, the report wasn’t classified, but it also wasn’t something just anyone could get their hands on.

A complete and professional industry analysis report like this was worth at least six figures on the open market.

”Got it. No problem. My lips are sealed. Thanks.”

Lin Chu replied politely.

Soon enough, Lin Chu received the file from her. He requested the password and began to read it carefully.

”I’ll get back to you later. Going to read this first.”

Tsk.

’This feeling of being able to get things just by being me... it’s not bad at all.’

’Getting it for free is even better.’

’My name, Lin Chu, is getting more and more valuable these days.’

’Of course, it’s not because I’m handsome. It’s because I have the power to back it up.’

...

Lin Chu read with intense focus.

The MQ industry analysis report covered every conceivable angle: market prospects, technological pathways, implementation difficulties, regulatory standards, commercial costs... and more. It was all laid out on paper, looking exceptionally professional, and ran over a hundred pages long.

Naturally, Lin Chu couldn’t grasp many of the technical details, but he could understand the general principles.

The technology for low-altitude flight vehicles was already quite mature.

Building one was definitely feasible.

The main difficulty lay in its commercial application.

It was unrealistic to expect them to become as common as cars—one for every household, filling the skies. That was pure science fiction; technology hadn’t advanced that far.

For the next five to ten years, this type of aircraft would remain a luxury item for the wealthy few.

Moreover, it would most likely be introduced first in the public transportation sector, with fixed routes for easier management.

However, as a new product, the empty market meant vast potential. The report conservatively estimated that the market size would exceed a trillion within five years—that was a certainty.

Many giants in the transportation industry were already starting to pay attention, making moves to enter the field.

As he read this, suddenly...

Lin Chu noticed another detail.

The report mentioned a key piece of information: an organization at the Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School’s industry-academia-research base called the ”Low-altitude Flight Laboratory.”

This laboratory was run by a Peking University professor named Su Chaoyue, one of the leading authorities in the field. His technical expertise was ranked at least in the top three nationwide, and he held over twenty core patents.
