Super Tycoon: I Beg You, Stop Pulling Stunts

Chapter 296: Chapter 220: I’ve Already Lined Up a Construction Team for You

Lin Chu grinned. ”My family’s been poor farmers for three generations—as red and expert as they come. My girlfriend, though, has a relative who’s a police officer. Of course, that has nothing to do with my business.”

Su Chaoyue nodded again.

The ”political background check” was more or less passed.

”Will you take responsibility for what you’ve said?”

he finally asked.

”Of course. I absolutely stand by it. I’ve even found a construction team for you. I’m actually meeting with someone for dinner tonight. If you’d like to join, Professor Su, you’re more than welcome.”

”The land is ready to go, too. It was originally zoned for construction, but I’ve just been sitting on it, undeveloped. It’s a little far out, in Guan City. You definitely won’t find anything like that here in Peng City.”

”Of course, if you’re not opposed, I also have a golf course—over a hundred acres. We usually close at 10 p.m., so you can experiment however you like.”

Lin Chu put on an air of utmost sincerity, cranking his enthusiasm to the maximum.

Su Chaoyue was left a little speechless by how thoroughly Lin Chu had thought everything through.

He gave Lin Chu a thoughtful look and rubbed his nose.

”Not bad, not bad at all. Much more generous than those CEOs from publicly traded companies.”

”Let’s go. I’ll join you for dinner tonight.”

”First, we’ll eat and discuss the land. Then we’ll go check out your golf course to see if it meets the experimental requirements.”

After a moment’s consideration, he spoke with decisive energy.

The issue of a test site was currently the biggest constraint on the low-altitude aircraft project.

The higher-ups hadn’t approved a budget for a dedicated site, so he had to fend for himself.

He could go around calling in favors and borrowing sites, but it was an unstable solution fraught with complications.

The last experiment had been conducted in secret, yet it was covertly filmed by a DJI drone. They never found out who was responsible, but it was undoubtedly one of their rivals.

Not wanting to stir up trouble and waste time, Su Chaoyue chose not to involve the police.

”Great! Let’s head out now. This way, please. We’ll go to the parking lot first.”

Lin Chu immediately gestured toward his arm as if to support him, a smile on his face.

Su Chaoyue nodded.

The two made their way to the parking lot and got into the Rolls-Royce.

Seeing the car, Su Chaoyue suddenly had an idea. After settling into the back seat, he glanced at Lin Chu and asked, ”Nice car. Could I borrow it for a couple of days?”

Lin Chu was a little surprised.

’What’s this Professor Su up to?’

’Why is he asking for the car right off the bat?’

’Offering the land was my own initiative. Even if I get a rebate for it all, me offering something is completely different from him asking for it, right?’

Nevertheless, Lin Chu’s smile grew even brighter. ”Sure. Drive it as much as you want. Or how about I just give it to you?”

”Give it to me? Why? I can’t even afford the gas.”

”I just want to take the engine apart and have a look. Don’t worry, I won’t break it. I used to repair aircraft engines when I was younger.”

It wasn’t that Su Chaoyue didn’t understand social etiquette; he simply didn’t care for it, viewing it as trash that should have been swept into the dustbin of history long ago. This time, however, he offered a brief explanation.

Only then did Lin Chu understand. He nodded with a laugh and waved his hand magnanimously. ”Take it apart. Take it apart however you want.”

Gao Haitao was at the wheel.

He sighed mournfully to himself.

’What kind of big shot is this?’

’Such a beautiful Rolls-Royce!’

’I can’t bear to see it go!’

’But of course, he knew to prioritize the bigger picture. If it really got broken, it was just a matter of buying another one.’

...

Beating the evening rush hour, they headed straight for a development nestled between the mountain and the sea.

On the way, Su Chaoyue asked for details about Lin Chu’s plot of land and was once again startled to learn it was zoned for construction.

The whole thing felt rather surreal to him.

But Lin Chu just laughed and went on about how the houses wouldn’t sell even if he built them, how real estate was a vulgar business, and how scientific research was a noble pursuit.

Although the old professor knew it was just flattery, he still found it quite pleasing.

’Revitalizing the nation really depends on the younger generation!’

’His awareness is on another level!’

’He’s not like those merchants who reek of money, only knowing how to rake in cash. They take investments from foreign capital, plunder the domestic market, and in the end, who knows which bastard’s pocket all the money goes into.’

Along the way, Lin Chu sent a message to Zhou Ming, telling him he was bringing a guest—an old professor involved in scientific research.

Although Zhou Ming didn’t know the reason, he quickly realized Lin Chu had his own plans and readily agreed.

As they reached the road leading into the residential complex, Su Chaoyue couldn’t help but laugh as he took in the surroundings. ”This place would actually be perfect for experiments. But, sigh... the cost, ha.”

This complex had a mountain above, a forest in the middle, and the sea below. Such complex terrain would be perfect for testing parameters in various environments.

’Of course, it was just a passing thought.’

’A complex like this is far too expensive. How could they possibly let me conduct experiments here?’

Lin Chu knew he was just thinking aloud and not actually asking for anything, but he still smiled and said, ”I could just buy a house here. Then I’ll have a word with the property management. If that doesn’t work, we’ll just buy the entire complex.”

Su Chaoyue’s lips parted, and his sharp Adam’s apple bobbed.

’That’s... truly absurd.’

”Xiaochu, where on earth do you get all this money?”

Unconsciously, his form of address for Lin Chu had changed to the more familiar ”Xiaochu.”

Lin Chu waved his hand and laughed heartily. ”It’s the only skill I’ve got left. But I’m pretty philosophical about it. Money... you can’t take it with you, right? It just passes through my hands on its way to where it’s truly needed.”

Su Chaoyue gave him a deep, long look, then nodded twice with forceful approval.

”Buying the whole thing isn’t necessary. That would just be lining the pockets of those bastards. If we could borrow it for a week, that would be enough to get all the experimental data we need.”

”You see, getting from South Mountain to Salt Field takes almost an hour, even by subway. But with this aircraft, taking a route over the sea, it would be five minutes at most, even flying in an arc. An aerial super bus!”
