Super Tycoon: I Beg You, Stop Pulling Stunts

Chapter 298: Chapter 221: I Want Both the Scientist and the Star

The meal was somewhere between a business meeting and a friendly get-together, and since there was no alcohol, Lin Chu had Gao Haitao join them.

After all, the residential complex was quiet and remote, with nowhere to eat nearby.

Once the meal was over.

The core needs of all parties had been met.

Su Chaoyue needed an experimental site, and Li Daqing’s construction team met the requirements and was fully capable of building it.

Li Daqing had landed a job and could start working, which meant he’d have the money to support his workers and prevent his team from disbanding.

Zhou Ming had found a new path forward for his former partner, demonstrating Famous Group’s sense of responsibility and fulfilling his obligation to an old friend.

As for Lin Chu himself...

Gifting the land, of course, also came with a rebate.

The land in Guan City was valued at 380 million. Although it was only a double rebate, it was still a tidy little profit.

And that was just the immediate benefit.

The long-term benefit was that Lin Chu didn’t believe Su Chaoyue was the type of person to take what he was given and simply walk away.

The core technology for the low-altitude flying vehicle was basically in the bag.

...

「That evening.」

Lin Chu took Su Chaoyue to the golf course.

After seeing the grounds, he was very satisfied with the course as well.

After all, it was large enough to serve as a temporary site before the dedicated experimental facility was completed.

At least he wouldn’t have to go around begging everyone for help anymore.

The available time slots might be inconvenient, but for research grunts, beggars can’t be choosers.

Just having a place to use was a blessing.

In a place like Peng City, where every inch of land is worth its weight in gold, finding a site that was both large and private was next to impossible.

After they had finished discussing business, the two were having tea in Lin Chu’s office. When Su Chaoyue saw the calligraphy hanging on the wall behind Lin Chu, he stared, slightly taken aback.

’A Kind Father, A Filial Son?’

The literal meaning of the phrase was, of course, very easy to understand.

’But who would hang a phrase like that in their office?’

A bit dumbfounded, he looked at Lin Chu and gestured toward the piece.

Lin Chu laughed. He had encountered this kind of puzzled reaction many times recently, so he explained casually, ”I know it’s a bit unusual, Professor Su. It’s my family motto, and I figured, why not hang it up? In any case, I’d never hang up clichés like ’Great Virtue Carries All,’ ’The Highest Good is Like Water,’ or ’Instant Success.’ They’re just too tacky.”

Su Chaoyue couldn’t help but laugh out loud too.

”Well, it’s a good motto.”

Throughout their interactions, Lin Chu had given him the impression of being wealthy, humble, and respectful of science and technology. He handled things reliably and with a sense of propriety, and he didn’t reek of money.

’Oh, right, and one more thing,’ he thought, ’he’s bold.’

Although Su Chaoyue knew that Lin Chu was definitely after the core technology of the low-altitude flying vehicle, nothing was set in stone yet, and Lin Chu had already invested hundreds of millions. That level of boldness was genuinely moving.

”Xiaochu, frankly, I’ve been researching this technology my whole life. The principle isn’t difficult, but the major breakthroughs have only come in recent years, once materials science, dynamics, and socioeconomic development reached this level.”

He spoke with a sudden note of wistfulness.

Lin Chu refilled his tea. ”Please, go on. I’m listening intently.”

”I don’t know what your thoughts are, but in my mind, the low-altitude flying vehicle is absolutely not a toy for the rich. Of course, in the beginning, it won’t be accessible to everyone, but that has to be the ultimate goal.”

Lin Chu lit a cigarette, sensing the profound emotion in the professor’s words.

’Why does this feel like he’s marrying off his daughter?’

’Like a father-in-law speaking to his future son-in-law.’

’But then again, a lifetime of hard work certainly deserves to be so treasured.’

”From a business perspective, we’ll have to start with wealthy clients to meet the needs of mass production. Of course, we could also work with government platforms to establish public transport routes. But I understand your point. ’Technology makes life better,’ and that shouldn’t just apply to the rich.”

”How about this: once our product reaches mass production, I’ll allocate... let’s say 2% of the sale price of every vehicle. One percent will be invested in a research and development fund, and the other one percent will go into a charitable fund.”

”My own charitable foundation is already going through the approval process. I also have another plot of land in Zeng City, where I’m planning to build an orphanage and a nursing home.”

Lin Chu said with a smile, realizing this was a crucial moment. He couldn’t afford to drop the ball, so he decided to add more fuel to the fire.

’Su Chaoyue clearly places great importance on ”social responsibility.”’

’He’s a noble scientist in the traditional sense of the word.’

A look of appreciation shone in Su Chaoyue’s eyes, and his demeanor softened considerably. He nodded with a smile. ”That you have this in mind puts me even more at ease. Why would someone your age be thinking about charity? Tax avoidance?”

He was clearly joking.

”Not entirely. I was actually inspired by my girlfriend.”

Lin Chu replied with a smile.

’Yes.’

’The other girlfriend.’

Of course, Su Chaoyue would never have guessed that the girlfriend Lin Chu had mentioned earlier—the one with a police officer in the family—was not the same person as this current, ”charity-loving” girlfriend. He sighed softly, feeling once again that this young man was a genuinely good person—family-oriented and willing to spend a fortune to establish a charitable foundation just for his girlfriend.

The more he considered him, the more satisfied he became.

”How did you find out about the low-altitude flying vehicle project?”

Having completely made up his mind, he began to ask for details, considering the process of commercializing the technology from Lin Chu’s perspective.

”I’m studying for my MBA. A classmate of mine approached me for an investment; he had his eye on this project. It involves your student, Chen Sheng. The person behind my classmate is his family elder, who was also a businessman.”

Lin Chu thought for a moment. ’I’m not sure if saying it like this will cause any problems,’ he mused. ’After all, I have no idea what the relationship is between Professor Su and Chen Sheng. But, on second thought, it should be fine.’
