Sister Nan's Combat Strength is Unknown, But It's Probably Only a Tiny Bit Stronger

162: Someone tried to take over their house at night. The last two men standing behind Si Nan thought she was an easy target; they lunged forward to grab her, intending to use her as leverage against Luo Sen.

Unfortunately for them, Si Nan sliced off their reaching hands with a single stroke of her blade.

“Ahhh—” The two men clutched their stumps and screamed in agony as blood sprayed out, splattering across Ding Hong’s face. The woman finally lost her composure.

“Ahhh! Devils! Luo Sen, you’re a devil! Both of you are devils! Don’t kill me, don’t kill me! I was forced into this!” Ding Hong collapsed onto the floor, pleading for mercy from Si Nan.

In that interval, Luo Sen had finished off all the perverts and approached Ding Hong alongside Si Nan.

Si Nan’s expression was icy. “Did you ever consider what would have happened to Luo Sen and me if we didn’t have martial arts and fell into the hands of those beasts?”

“Forgive you? The moment you opened your mouth to lure us up here, you became unworthy of forgiveness. Go to hell!”

Si Nan kicked the woman directly; she couldn’t quell the hatred in her heart without doing so. As a woman herself, Ding Hong had helped those beasts by any means necessary—such a woman deserved death most of all.

“Ah, don’t kill me, don’t kill me!” Ding Hong scrambled up, opened the door, and bolted. She didn’t want to die. Now that those beasts were dead, there was so much stolen food in the room; as long as she stayed alive, she could survive for a long time.

If all else failed, there were plenty of other men in this building; she could just trick a few more and that would be enough—

Suddenly: *Squelch—Thud!*

The Military Knife thrown by Luo Sen pierced through Ding Hong’s heart, pinning her to the door of the opposite apartment. Even so, Ding Hong continued to struggle, her hand reaching out desperately toward Luo Sen.

Inside the room, Si Nan looked at the two traumatized, numb women and draped blankets over them. She took nothing but the weapons.

When they headed down, Luo Sen found a way to block the shattered storefront door, though how long it would hold was anyone’s guess.

The moment their car pulled away, the surrounding zombies swarmed toward them like mad.

The night was thick, and the air was filled with the howling of corpses. Everywhere the headlights shone was packed with zombies. With free supplies for the taking, Si Nan was no longer sleepy.

The car drove to a food street, and the two began a frantic ’zero-dollar shopping’ spree. They spent an hour going back and forth along the street, then walked hand-in-hand to pick out items, especially ordinary renovation materials that had just been used up.

Half of the top-tier materials had been used to renovate Cloud Villa. Luo Sen had just mentioned that the small villa in the Residential Area also needed further modification to prevent snow from falling into the courtyard; otherwise, she couldn’t play on the swing he specifically made for her, which affected his mood.

Si Nan was happy to hear this. With such a capable Boyfriend, she naturally didn’t need to worry and let him tinker as he pleased. Thus, they didn’t plan to search for supplies for the next three days, choosing instead to get their home in order first.

Furthermore, the perimeter wall of the Residential Area hadn’t been reinforced yet. She feared that one day, starving, evolving Zombie Beast tides or zombie hordes would launch a sudden attack. Moreover, the survivors who had come to attack and loot while they were away a week ago had annoyed her.

Without fixing these issues, she could never search for supplies with peace of mind. On the other hand, it also showed that the people in Unit 3 were not proactive at all; now that they had her providing ’food and clothing without worry,’ they thought everything was fine.

Therefore, during these seven days of the week, she hadn’t returned or distributed any supplies, treating it as a punishment for them.

“Whoosh!”

The distracted Si Nan was sprayed with snow by several helicopters flying low overhead. Luo Sen felt like destroying those helicopters as he quickly helped her wipe her face; fortunately, they wore safety helmets every time they went out.

As for those helicopters, they surely belonged to powerful forces from before the Apocalypse. For instance, that lecherous Young Master Pangda they had just killed was also a rich second-generation heir with an extraordinary status.

Never underestimate these wealthy people and the heritage of their great clans. Even in the Apocalypse, they still possessed formidable power beyond the imagination of ordinary people.

On the way to drop off Ji Yan, Ji Yan had mentioned that when The Authorities first began rapidly establishing Safety Zones, those wealthy individuals took the initiative to contribute funds and materials. The Authorities, naturally welcoming this and thinking it was like the old days where one side in trouble received help from all directions, didn’t pay it much mind.

However, as the Safety Zones were gradually completed, the tone changed. Those wealthy people slowly used their own personnel to infiltrate the Safety Zones until they had complete control. This process took less than half a month—a terrifying speed.

The Authorities were forced to withdraw from the Safety Zones. There were too many people needing rescue, and they had no time to fight internal wars with these wealthy people, so they simply gave up. As long as it was for the sake of the people in the Safety Zone, it didn’t matter who was in control.

But as soon as they retreated to build other Safety Zones, irreversible and serious consequences occurred. Poor management by the wealthy led to the rapid fall of the Safety Zones; all the work was in vain, and all the people rescued were for nothing.

Only then did The Authorities realize their mistake. In the Safety Zones built afterward, they no longer let the wealthy run wild. However, The Authorities’ supplies were limited, and they still couldn’t do without the support of the wealthy, so they were forced to divide the Safety Zones into different social tiers.

Every person entering a Safety Zone had to be useful; no one was there to just eat and drink for free. This was why Ji Yan hadn’t tried his hardest to persuade Si Nan and Luo Sen to go to a Safety Zone.

Compared to being inside a safety fortress, having a sturdy house and resources outside was much more pleasant than being in a Safety Zone, where one would be subject to numerous regulations.

The world was already pragmatic to begin with, and it became even more so after the Apocalypse; there was nothing anyone could do about it.

The night was thick and snowflakes drifted down, yet the city sky was full of clamor. The roaring of zombies was terrifying, as if the heavens were collapsing and the earth was rending; starving, they only wanted to eat flesh.

Luo Sen killed an ordinary zombie in passing and cut open its head to check. The crystal core hadn’t even condensed to the size of a grain of rice. It seemed only the fast-evolving, powerful zombies were useful.

The two were stepping up their search of the street they had just arrived at when their phones’ alarms went off simultaneously. Thinking it was just passersby triggering it, they were surprised to see that someone was trying to take over her little house under the cover of night.

And they had partially succeeded; two people were hanging from her backyard wall. Before leaving, she had activated the wall’s traps, which triggered on contact. Those two were impaled on steel spikes over a meter long, looking like freshly skewered lamb kebabs, dripping blood and struggling desperately to break free.

Their accomplices below saw their miserable state and were so terrified they turned and ran. Luo Sen followed the fleeing people through the surveillance footage and, unexpectedly, those few people actually entered Unit S.

Ge Yue was nursing his injuries and no one was keeping them in line, so they had rebelled after only a few days.

“Maybe the traitor is in this unit as well. Are we going back now?” Luo Sen pointed at the surveillance screen for Si Nan to see.

Si Nan’s expression was grim. “No rush. Let those two hang for a while. We’ll deal with everyone once we get back. It seems I’ve been giving them food too frequently.”

She downloaded the video to serve as evidence for rooting out the traitor upon their return.

It wasn’t until dawn that the two of them headed back, another night of bountiful harvests behind them. However, just as the Armored Vehicle entered the gates of the Residential Area, they heard the sound of a firefight.
