Sister Nan's Combat Strength is Unknown, But It's Probably Only a Tiny Bit Stronger

154: I will wield my knife and mercilessly cut open your stomach.Si Nan knew this too and immediately told Bai Zichuan, ”Give the Child to me, you go boil some hot water quickly.”

”Right away.” Bai Zichuan handed his daughter directly to Si Nan, who quickly followed behind Mei Xue.

At this moment, Mei Xue’s face was deathly pale. Having been held in for too long and because of the labor pains, she had suddenly become very weak. She reached out emptily to grab Si Nan’s hand, ”Nan—Sister Nan, no matter what, you must let this Child be born safely. This is my and Song Yuan’s first Child, even if you have to use a knife to cut open my belly to take it out.

If anything happens to the baby, I don’t want to live either. I beg you, Sister Nan!”

Si Nan didn’t know what to say. Her premature birth was partly her own fault. If she or The little fellow had any mishaps, it would be hard to explain to Song Yuan when he returned.

She gritted her teeth and said, ”What nonsense are you talking about? Both you and The little fellow will be safe. Don’t push yet, save your strength. Let Xiao Wen check you in a bit, and then push once your cervix is fully dilated.”

”Sister Nan, promise me first?” Mei Xue was very persistent.

As if using up all her strength, Mei Xue suddenly grabbed Si Nan’s hand, her eyes looking at Si Nan imploringly.

Bai Rong, who was carrying Mei Xue, also urged Si Nan, saying, ”Sister Nan, just promise her. I’m a mother too, and I can completely understand how she feels. To ensure the Child is born safely, we mothers can die.

If you don’t promise her, she won’t be able to give birth in peace. Promise her, okay?”

Xiao Wen also said, ”Yes, Sister Nan, just promise her. If it really comes to that, no one can watch both mother and Child perish; we’d have to choose one.

Now, Sister Mei has simply made the decision ahead of time and chosen the Child.”

”Fine, I promise you. If you really have a difficult labor and can’t give birth to this Child, I will wield the knife and cut open your belly without mercy to take the Child out.” Si Nan agreed without another word.

”Thank—thank you, Sister Nan.” Only then did Mei Xue happily let go of Si Nan’s hand.

After reaching the room, Mei Xue was moved onto the bed and covered with a quilt. Xiao Wen went to get things; fortunately, she knew this day would come and had prepared in advance.

Bai Rong closed all the windows in the room, turned on the air conditioner, adjusted the temperature to the optimal level, and then rummaged through the cabinet for the things Mei Xue had prepared for the Child.

Bai Zhuangzhuang, who had followed along, was also sensible. He took his younger sister from Si Nan’s arms. ”Sister, give my little sister to me. I’m very good at taking care of her.”

”Okay, I’ll be right back.” Si Nan placed the few-months-old Bai Duoduo on the sofa, surrounded her with throw pillows, and let Bai Zhuangzhuang play with his sister while she ran back to her room to find her phone.

After getting her phone, she quickly called Luo Sen, but it wouldn’t go through at all. Song Yuan, Ma Bufan, and Guan Xiaoning’s phones all wouldn’t go through either.

”What is everyone doing?” In desperation, she left messages for Song Yuan and Luo Sen and immediately rushed back to Mei Xue’s room.

At this moment, Xiao Wen was helping Mei Xue with an examination, her expression grave. ”Sister Mei is still bleeding, and the intervals between contractions are getting shorter and shorter.”

She quickly asked Mei Xue, who was in agonizing pain, ”Sister Mei, how long has your stomach been hurting?”

”After Sister Nan told me to hide in the cabinet, she—she had just left when my stomach started hurting. It’s not Sister Nan’s fault, it’s my own reason. It also hurt for a few minutes when I got up this morning, but it stopped quickly.

I thought it was just a cramp in my abdomen, so I didn’t tell you or pay it any mind. It must have been a sign of premature labor.”

Xiao Wen asked again, ”Was the fetal position correct during the last prenatal checkup?”

”It wasn’t. The doctor said it was still early and not to worry, telling me to sleep more on my left side and walk more often, and the fetal position would correct itself. I didn’t slack off; I walked every day.”

Xiao Wen’s expression was grim. ”It’s hard to say in this situation. We don’t have an Ultrasound machine, we’re not in a hospital, and I’m not an obstetrician. Sister Mei, Sister Nan, I’m scared.”

Si Nan placed her hand on Xiao Wen’s shoulder, giving her support and strength. ”Don’t be afraid. Right now, only you can help her. Calm down and check the fetal position as best as you know how. Just do your best.”

”Little sister, don’t be afraid. The Child will be fine.” Mei Xue also grabbed Xiao Wen’s hand and said, having prepared for the worst.

Witnessing Mei Xue’s screams and pain firsthand, both Si Nan and Xiao Wen, these two single dogs, didn’t dare to have children anymore, but Xiao Wen still nodded firmly:

”Okay, we will get through this. Sister Mei, don’t think too much either. Think about the baby who is about to be born. You’re about to meet. You can guess if it’s a boy or a girl, how heavy they’ll be... have you picked out a name yet?”

It had to be said that although Xiao Wen was only a high school student, she was quite good at comforting people. Mei Xue’s emotions indeed stabilized, and she stopped screaming heart-wrenchingly.

Si Nan curled her lips; it seemed she was the only one with nothing to do.

However, just as it quieted down here, The little fellow outside started crying again. Even Bai Zhuangzhuang couldn’t soothe her. ”Little sister is hungry.”

”Sigh, go call your mother quickly. I’ll watch her.” As soon as Si Nan walked out, she got a headache from The little fellow’s crying. Crying like this would also affect Mei Xue giving birth inside.

Helpless, she had to pick up The little fellow and took out several small toys from her space for The little fellow to play with. Seeing the toys, The little fellow’s tears stopped for a moment, but then she started wailing again. No matter how Si Nan tried to coax her, it didn’t work.

In her frustration, she had to take out a Teething biscuit for The little fellow to gnaw on. Sure enough, she stopped crying and even gnawed on it with great relish. She tapped The little fellow’s nose, ”You little foodie.”

A short while later, Bai Rong came running with a bottle of formula she had prepared. The little fellow was very good at drinking from the bottle. She was quite clever; perhaps the Teething biscuit was tastier, as she licked the biscuit in Bai Rong’s hand while drinking her milk.

”Hahaha~” Si Nan and Bai Rong were both amused.

Si Nan smiled. Looking at the cute Child, the suffering seemed worth it. She wasn’t so afraid anymore.

Just as her mood relaxed, Xiao Wen suddenly rushed out of the room, sounding urgent. ”Sister Nan, it’s bad. Sister Mei’s fetal position is very wrong. The baby is lying sideways. My hand strength isn’t enough and I’m afraid of hurting the baby inside. I’ve been pushing for a long time but haven’t been able to turn the baby’s head downward.”

”I’ll do it!” Si Nan suddenly stood up and walked inside.

Looking at Mei Xue in pain, she gritted her teeth and said, ”No matter how much it hurts, you have to endure it. If it goes well, both you and the Child will live. If not, you die!”

”Do it!” Mei Xue was also a tough one, giving Si Nan those two words decisively as she bit down on the quilt.

”Very well, then let’s begin.” She circulated her power, using her limited Supernatural Ability to control her strength and slowly shift the baby inside the belly according to what Xiao Wen had said.

”Ah!” Mei Xue almost fainted from the pain. The double agony from the contractions and the manual manipulation was truly more than she could bear. It hurt too much, far too much.

Bai Rong watched from the side, holding the Child, her heart trembling with fear. It was so difficult to give birth to a Child in the Apocalypse. It was a complete gamble—gambling with heaven, gambling with oneself. This world... when would it all end?

”Ah—” Mei Xue let out scream after scream, each one more painful than the last, looking as if she were about to pass out.
