Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 733: Chapter 730 Class Reunion

Just as Qin Shui had said, not long after leaving the town and returning to the fishing village, Luo Jinzhi received a call from a high school classmate.

The caller was Li Jie, the class monitor of Luo Jinzhi’s high school graduating class.

Luo Jinzhi did not have a good impression of this class monitor. He was a typical opportunist, disregarding her in university after seeing that Luo Jinzhi came from a poor family. Even when Luo Jinzhi got into a university and went to S City, Li Jie never paid her any attention and didn’t even notify her of the annual class meetings.

Luo Jinzhi was no fool, and she guessed that Li Jie was calling her probably because Qin Shui had spoken to him. Li Jie always cared about his reputation, and since Qin Shui had told him that she had returned, if Li Jie didn’t invite Luo Jinzhi this time, it would be hard to justify.

Feeling somewhat stifled, Luo Jinzhi did not make things difficult for Li Jie. After he mentioned the gathering, she agreed without hesitation.

Luo Jinzhi’s high school was located in Mindong County, and after graduation, most of her classmates had stayed in the county, so the reunion was set at a hotel there.

Early that day, Luo Jinzhi went with Qin Shui to the venue for the gathering.

Huo Sining had nothing particular to do and had planned to go to the seaside when she unexpectedly received a call from Zhong Zifan. Learning that Huo Sining was in Mindong, Zhong Zifan was quite surprised and pleased, mentioning that he was also in Mindong and wanted to invite Huo Sining to eat. Naturally, Huo Sining had no objections and followed Luo Jinzhi to Mindong County.

Since she was unfamiliar with Mindong, Huo Sining gave the hotel address for Luo Jinzhi’s class gathering to Zhong Zifan, then went along with Luo Jinzhi to the place of the class reunion.

Huo Sining hadn’t expected that when they arrived at the gathering’s location, she would be somewhat stunned by the hotel.

”Jin Zhi, is this really a class reunion? The classmate who’s taking the lead must be quite wealthy, right?”

Huo Sining looked up and recognized at a glance that the establishment called Mei Yuan was actually a private entertainment venue; according to the signage at the entrance, Mei Yuan offered a full range of dining, drinking, and recreational activities.

In such a small county, an entertainment venue like this was obviously not cheap—just an ordinary meal here would cost at least a thousand yuan per person.

Luo Jinzhi and Qin Shui, both having just entered university or the workforce, naturally couldn’t afford such expenses. Therefore, upon seeing Mei Yuan, they were bewildered and instinctively called their class monitor, Li Jie, to inquire if there had been a mistake with the location.

Unexpectedly, right after the call connected, a young man came out from inside the venue. Spotting Qin Shui and Luo Jinzhi, he hurried over: ”Ah Shui, Jin Zhi, this way!”

Luo Jinzhi and Qin Shui exchanged glances, hesitantly responding, ”Class monitor, why is our reunion here...”

Li Jie, of course, knew what Luo Jinzhi and Qin Shui were implying and immediately laughed, ”That’s right, it’s here. Just enjoy yourselves today. This was all set up by Yan Yurou; she’s picking up the tab, so don’t worry.”

After saying this, Li Jie noticed Huo Sining beside Luo Jinzhi: ”Jin Zhi, who is this beside you...?”

Luo Jinzhi was about to say Huo Sining wouldn’t be coming with them, when Huo Sining herself smiled, extended her hand to shake Li Jie’s, and said, ”Huo Sining, I’m Jin Zhi’s university classmate.”

Li Jie paused for a moment and then smiled as he shook Huo Sining’s hand, ”Ah, so you’re Jin Zhi’s classmate. Then you must be from S University. Miss Huo, both you and Jin Zhi are talented individuals. Getting into S University is no easy feat. You’re both brand-name university students who will work in big cities after graduation. The future is bound to hail your successes, unlike us who just scrape by day after day...”

Li Jie’s face was smiling, but Huo Sining could clearly feel that the smile carried a layer of hypocrisy, and despite maintaining a calm exterior, she couldn’t help but sneer inwardly.

Although Li Jie spoke words of envy, he looked down on them in his heart; it was clear that in his eyes, she and Luo Jinzhi were no better than bookworms who could study, not much stronger than himself.

Huo Sining wore a smile on her face and, led by Li Jie, the three of them entered Mei Yuan.

They had hardly pushed the door open and stepped in when they were met by several people approaching from the other side.

”Hey, look who’s here, our university student has arrived! What a rare guest, I even thought that we wouldn’t catch Jin Zhi’s eye any longer. She’s now been to prosperous metropolitan areas like S City and seen the Mingzhu Tower. I doubted such gatherings would interest her, but to my surprise, I guessed wrong. This is quite unexpected.”

As soon as Huo Sining and her two companions entered the garden, a woman’s exaggerated and affected voice rang out, circling around Luo Jinzhi, and scanning her up and down with eyes that could not conceal the mockery and disdain they held.

”Shen Shanshan, what are you on about? Jin Zhi never said she wouldn’t come. It’s just that you didn’t invite her. She’s only just returned to Mindong, so stop being so sarcastic here!”

Upon hearing Shen Shanshan’s sarcastic tone, not only did Luo Jinzhi feel uncomfortable, but even Qin Shui couldn’t stand it, and couldn’t help but scowl and reprimand Shen Shanshan in a low voice.

”I didn’t receive any notice about the gathering before the New Year; it’s not that I didn’t want to attend.”

Luo Jinzhi’s inherently kind nature made her feel awkward and aggrieved when Shen Shanshan started picking on her as soon as she walked in. Especially under the scrutiny of so many eyes, she felt quite embarrassed and couldn’t resist defending herself,

”If you don’t welcome me, then I won’t disturb you.”

Although Luo Jinzhi was naive, she wasn’t completely without temper. Seeing that Shen Shanshan’s group looked at her with hostility and exclusion, she immediately felt uncomfortable and simply turned around, ready to leave.

”Jin Zhi!” Just then, a soft and delicate voice came from behind, ”Shanshan has always been blunt and straightforward, without much tact. She didn’t mean to target you intentionally, don’t take it to heart.”

Huo Sining looked up and saw a girl as delicate as a willow in the breeze standing quietly, who took Luo Jinzhi’s arm with a light laugh:

”You know, Jin Zhi, you really haven’t been fair to us. We lost touch with you right after high school graduation, and we couldn’t find you at all. If Qin Shui hadn’t mentioned it this time, we wouldn’t have known you were back in Mindong. You didn’t even let us know when you came back; if you had, we would have taken the time to pick you up from the train station.”

Yan Yurou’s soft words completely calmed down Luo Jinzhi’s anger and annoyance. She looked at Yan Yurou, nodded, and let go of the unpleasantness she had just experienced with Shen Shanshan.
