Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 731: Chapter 728: Exes Strategy

As expected, as soon as Liu, Guan, Zhang was brought out, Song Hui’s eyes immediately lit up.

”Liu, Guan, Zhang!? This is great! Get me one!” Song Hui exclaimed eagerly.

Huo Sining didn’t refuse, he simply said he’d arrange for someone to carve the seal and bring it over later.

While Huo Sining was having an animated conversation with Gu Xu and Song Hui, Gu Xu’s secretary suddenly knocked and came in, saying:

”Mr. Gu, Elisa from Samra has come to inquire about the progress of the contract negotiations; she’s waiting in the side room, wanting to meet with you.”

Gu Xu nodded expressionlessly, but Song Hui involuntarily glanced at Huo Sining with a somewhat strange expression on his face.

Since it was a work-related issue, Huo Sining didn’t think much of it. Seeing that Gu Xu was busy, he didn’t stay any longer and stood up to leave first.

Just as he pushed open the door and stepped out, he saw a graceful figure standing outside Gu Xu’s office. When the woman saw Huo Sining coming out from Gu Xu’s office, a flash of surprise crossed her eyes, and her gaze flickered slightly.

Huo Sining gave the woman a few glances, then headed straight for the elevator, but just as he reached the elevator and was waiting, the woman directly pushed open the door to Gu Xu’s office and laughed, ”A Xu, are you going to the school anniversary in a couple of days?”

A Xu? Huo Sining paused, instinctively turned his head back, and looked at the woman with confusion, feeling a vague discomfort in his heart.

Why was this woman calling Gu Xu so intimately, and what was their relationship? Why had he never heard Gu Xu mention her before?

The elevator doors opened, and Huo Sining didn’t dwell on it. The woman was here to discuss business with Gu Xu, so presumably their relationship was only professional. Huo Sining didn’t doubt Gu Xu’s character, so he simply shook his head slightly and stepped into the elevator.

The elevator doors were about to close when suddenly a foot stepped in, preventing the doors from closing.

”What’s the matter?”

Huo Sining looked puzzled at Gu Xu, who had suddenly appeared in front of him, feeling both bewildered and curious.

Gu Xu calmly pushed the doors open and stepped in from the outside: ”I’ll take you.”

Huo Sining looked up to see the woman standing at the door of Gu Xu’s office, her face ashen and her fists clenched, full of barely suppressed fury. Huo Sining immediately showed a look of confusion, not understanding what was going on.

”Okay,” Huo Sining, feeling that something was off, didn’t ask further; she just nodded and agreed.

They went all the way down to the lobby without Gu Xu saying a word. Just as Huo Sining was about to turn and leave, Gu Xu suddenly caught up again.

”Her name is Yao Xinzhu.” Gu Xu looked a bit awkward but did not avoid Huo Sining’s gaze, looking at her seriously.

Huo Sining raised her head: ”Ah?”

”That woman just now, named Yao Xinzhu, was my girlfriend during high school. Later, when I enlisted in the army, I made it clear to her that I wanted to work in the military in the future. She despised me for having no money and left to study abroad alone. At that time, I was on a mission and nearly lost my life, and it was only half a year later that I found out she had gone abroad. After that, she never contacted me again.”

Huo Sining listened, dumbstruck, and it took her a long while to look at Gu Xu in shock, ”She looked down on you for having no money?”

Wasn’t this a joke? The Gu family was a hereditary family of three generations of illustrious service, in control of such a huge empire like Shengtang Group, and they were supposed to be short of money? Was that woman blind?

Gu Xu was speechless for a moment and he was worried that Huo Sining would be angry about it, but from her reaction, it seemed the girl had missed the point entirely.

”During high school and college, I hung out with Jun Zi and the others in a carefree manner. My family was afraid we would learn bad habits, so they limited our financial sources, which made us no different from children from ordinary families. I never told her about my family background, so she misunderstood.”

Huo Sining felt sympathy for Yao Xinzhu. Was the girl foolish? To not hold on to such a ’thick thigh’ and instead turn and run away at the first opportunity—look, now she had missed out on such a treasure. Wasn’t this causing trouble for herself?

”So what does she mean now? She’s discovered your identity isn’t what she’d imagined, so she’s regretting it and planning to ’return to her old love’?”

It was only then that Huo Sining realized what the woman had come for. Bloody hell, she’d realized she’d made a stupid decision before and now wanted to make amends, hoping to rekindle the old relationship with Gu Xu, and then she was aiming to steal her man?

Seeing Huo Sining’s half-smiling look, Gu Xu found it amusing, ”No matter what she means, my company only has a business relationship with theirs, and any feelings I had for her have long since dissipated. I don’t know what she thinks, but I do know what I want.”

”If you know what you want, then why tell me about this?” Huo Sining raised an eyebrow.

Gu Xu knew that Huo Sining was questioning him and decided to confess frankly, ”I have no intentions, but I can’t control what others think. I was afraid she would harass you, so I wanted to take the initiative and be frank about my past to reduce misunderstandings. If that woman comes to you and says something, don’t believe her and don’t take it to heart. I think you’re smart enough to guess what her motives are.”

”That’s more like it. Don’t worry, I’m not that dumb. I wouldn’t jump into a pit just because she dug one.”

Seeing that Gu Xu was being honest with her, Huo Sining nodded in satisfaction. She glanced around and saw no one else was close by, then suddenly, with a mischievous smile, she tiptoed up when Gu Xu was unprepared and bit him right on the shoulder near his collarbone.

Gu Xu only felt a numbness at his collarbone, as if he had been scratched by a small cat, and when he looked down, he saw Huo Sining with a sly, triumphant smile.

”Just leaving a stamp to prove you’re mine!” Huo Sining smiled cheerfully at Gu Xu, ”Alright, I’ve got it. If someone wants to snatch my man, let’s see if she’s got the skill!”

Hearing Huo Sining assertively emphasize that he was her man, Gu Xu felt a warmth in his heart and instinctively pulled Huo Sining into his arms, sighing, ”Wife, you’re really great.”

Truth be told, Huo Sining wasn’t so magnanimous; it was not true that she didn’t mind. But then she thought it over and let it go.

Who doesn’t have a past? Even she had been with Zhao Mingcheng in her previous life. Although Zhao Mingcheng was using her, she had indeed given him her heart. If she really counted, she wasn’t experiencing her first love either. Since it was all in the past, why should she care or bother about it?

For someone as outstanding as Gu Xu, she must have saved the Milky Way Galaxy in her last life for heaven to give her the chance to be with him this time.

”Let’s go back. Even if you don’t like them, the business still needs to be discussed. You can’t let your personal feelings affect the company’s interests.”

Huo Sining laughed and pushed Gu Xu, but he playfully refused to let go of Huo Sining, acting spoiled before finally, with reluctance, they parted.
