Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 703: Chapter 700 Who is the trick?

Liang Jinhong had little expertise in antiques and had planned to buy the Twining Plum Bottle to gift to Nohara Sa, but he hadn’t expected to encounter a nouveau riche causing trouble. A price of three million was already the limit for the Twining Plum Bottle, and any higher bid would be nothing but a giveaway.

Unexpectedly, Watanabe Yasu continued to bid and even opened at five million. Liang Jinhong was puzzled in his heart and had no choice but to bid for him.

But then, Watanabe Yasu cursed with those three words, and upon hearing them, Liang Jinhong knew trouble was coming.

Indeed, although Watanabe Yasu spoke in the Island Country’s language and quickly at that, the peach blossom guy heard it clearly and immediately flew into a rage:

”Who are you calling a dog, you son of a bitch? Do you really think I’m afraid to hit you, you fucking little Island Country ghost?!”

At first, the other onlookers didn’t understand what the Dongyang person said, but as soon as the peach blossom guy spoke up, everyone instantly caught on.

Anger surged among them, as they glared at Nohara Sa and Liang Jinhong with righteous indignation, barely restraining themselves from rushing forward to assault.

Hearing Watanabe Yasu cursing—himself included—Liang Jinhong also felt upset.

However, since he was the one who had brought the guy, he had to ensure his safety on the way back. Faced with the crowd’s furious glances, Liang Jinhong had to put on a brave face and deal with the situation:

”Sir, you’ve misunderstood; my friend here said ’just shout,’ meaning for me to keep bidding. He didn’t mean to insult you. Just now my friend bid five million; do you still plan to bid, sir?”

The peach blossom guy sneered disdainfully, ”If the Dongyang ghost can afford to bid, why can’t I? I’m in this game with you today, six million!”

The surrounding spectators were also seething with anger, finding Liang Jinhong’s excuse pathetic, but they also knew that causing trouble in the Ghost Market was not an option, so they were stewing with frustration.

Seeing the peach blossom guy place a bid, the crowd applauded and cheered, hoping to suppress the haughtiness of the Dongyang ghost!

Standing in the crowd, Huo Sining couldn’t help but smile wryly. With things at this point, it was really hard to say who was outsmarting whom.

Huo Sining watched Watanabe Yasu intently, afraid that in the next moment, the man might get too scared by the high price and turn around to leave, at which point the peach blossom guy would have nothing to do but cry.

”Eight million!”

Luckily, Watanabe Yasu was no pushover. Faced with the peach blossom guy’s suppression, he was unafraid, and without concern for the expression on Liang Jinhong’s face—or even without the need for Hattori Keiko’s translation—he simply stretched out his hand and gestured an ”eight.”

Eight million was enough to buy several pairs of Twining Plum Bottles. Yet, driven by the urge to win at all costs, the peach blossom guy jumped up, ready to call out a bid of one million.

Just then, his gaze landed on Huo Sining, and he saw Huo Sining frowning deeply, eyes locked tightly on him. Noting his glance, Huo Sining shook his head gently.

The peach blossom guy was momentarily stunned. Huo Sining smiled faintly at him, signaling with his eyes not to continue.

Although the man was impetuous, he wasn’t a fool. Nearly in an instant, he came back to his senses.

Carefully appraising antiques, especially when others are around, it’s essential to remember not to show too much emotion. Overly revealing one’s thoughts can influence others’ judgments, as any superfluous expression they show might significantly affect the onlookers’ decisions.

And that’s precisely why those who deal with antiques are usually very astute.

Although the handsome man had never met Huo Sining before, the fact that she could drop such a hint certainly wasn’t aimless.

Seeing Huo Sining shake her head, the first thought that flashed through the handsome man’s mind was that there must be something wrong with those vases!

Once he thought of this, the handsome man felt a chill. He subconsciously looked back at the display of the Twining Plum Bottle and struggled internally. Finally, he steeled himself and waved his hand at Watanabe Yasu and Liang Jinhong:

”Forget it, it’s already 8:40, I still have to rush to the fourth floor for the auction. I can’t be bothered with you anymore, I don’t want the vase! My loss, your gain!”

Although the handsome man’s expression remained unperturbed, the words he spoke shocked and disappointed the onlookers.

It was clear to everyone that this man was from a wealthy family, spending money like dirt. Earlier, while bidding, he appeared as if money meant nothing to him, like some nouveau riche. But now he was suddenly withdrawing, which puzzled the crowd.

Some veteran collectors were quite dissatisfied with the handsome man’s sudden withdrawal. Yuan Blue and White pieces were rare, and this Twining Plum Bottle was in such good condition that it was an exceedingly rare genuine piece. To let this Dongyang man win it and have it taken overseas was something they felt deeply uneasy about.

But what could their unease do? Everyone knew that buying the vase would cost them eight million or even more, which was far beyond the market value. No one wanted to be the fool.

Boss Wu, the owner of the Twining Plum Bottle, seemed reluctant as well, but since he had already said the highest bidder would take it, now that the handsome man had withdrawn from the bidding, it was evident that the Twining Plum Bottle would fall into the hands of Watanabe Yasu, the Dongyang devil.

Boss Wu seemed to want to go back on his word, but the handsome man glared at him fiercely. Boss Wu appeared to be quite wary of the handsome man and could only accept the check from Liang Jinhong with resignation and hand over the bottle to Watanabe Yasu.

The farce came to an end. Watching Watanabe Yasu treat the Twining Plum Bottle as a precious treasure, Huo Sining couldn’t help but find it amusing. She shook her head, ready to leave with Ji Kun, but before she could turn around, she was called by the handsome man.

”Excuse me, miss in front, please wait a moment.”

Knowing very well that the handsome man was calling for her, Huo Sining pretended to be unaware and pulled Ji Kun forward.

However, the handsome man was persistent. Seeing that Huo Sining clearly didn’t want to pay him any attention, he hastened his steps to catch up and blocked her way.

”Why did you shake your head just now?” the handsome man asked directly.

As if she didn’t understand his question, Huo Sining asked innocently, ”Shake my head? Sir, what are you talking about?”

But the handsome man was not easily pacified. ”Don’t play dumb. It was your shaking your head that prompted me to stop bidding!”

Seeing that he was relentless, Huo Sining knew she had to give him a satisfactory answer or he would keep pestering her. She reluctantly said:

”That Twining Plum Bottle is fake. Spending eight million on a pair of counterfeits is just playing the fool, isn’t it? Since that Dongyang man wants to collect trash, isn’t it good to let him have it?”

The handsome man was not someone who could be fobbed off easily. Seeing that Huo Sining was eager to leave, he simply followed behind her and Ji Kun, constantly probing:

”How do you know those vases are fake? So many experts have appraised them to be genuine!”
