Urban Martial Saint

The group was surrounded by a swarm of long-toothed rats, looking around, all they could see were these long-toothed rats, and there was no way to know exactly how many were encircling them. However, the group was very aware that if they dared to step outside the area of the fire, these long-toothed rats would definitely swarm in and leave them nothing but bones, just like what happened with Blackie.

In fact, within just a short time, the bones left by Blackie had been gnawed into tiny crumbs. Blackie, at this point, could truly be said to have died without even bone fragments remaining. The tattered clothes left behind added to the horror, making no one dare underestimate these long-toothed rats by the slightest.

”What now? What now?” Old Chen trembled and called out from within the crowd. This guy, who usually boasted about his bravery, was utterly terrified in the face of danger, leaving people puzzled about his true nature. Even in Shenchuan City, he dared to nag those peak masters, but faced with these beasts, he immediately got scared. What kind of character is this?

Fat Wang said in discontent, ”Stop yelling like that, can’t you see? These long-toothed rats fear fire. As long as we stay within this fire heap, they won’t dare to come over, and we should be fine for now!”

Before Old Chen could respond, a man anxiously said, ”How long will this fire last? The firewood is almost running out, it probably won’t last much longer until dawn. If these long-toothed rats swarm over, wouldn’t we all die here?”

This remark stirred up the others, who, despite their experiences, felt panic in this situation. In the face of so many long-toothed rats, there was absolutely no resistance, leading them to feel that death was inevitable.

Ye Qing frowned deeply. He had anticipated possibly encountering long-toothed rats. But according to Zhou Yue, these long-toothed rats were hidden deep within Xiliang Mountain, so he never expected to encounter them here. In fact, Ye Qing and the others were still about fifty miles from the center of Xiliang Mountain. Could it be that the long-toothed rats had migrated towards the edges of Xiliang Mountain?

If this truly was the case, then it was dire. The destination of these long-toothed rats was unknown, but no one could guarantee that they wouldn’t leave Xiliang Mountain. If they left Xiliang Mountain and entered human habitats, it would bring considerable trouble, affecting countless people. The strength shown by that long-toothed rat had already shocked Ye Qing; these rats were terrifying. How could they possibly deal with all these long-toothed rats?

The crowd started to create a commotion, and some even began blaming Fat Wang for bringing them here. Fat Wang wasn’t one to back down, yelling that they came for money, leading to an argument and loud dispute.

At this moment, the usually silent Big Beard suddenly stood up, grabbed a nearby Luoyang Shovel, and struck the shoulder of the loudest guy, making him scream. Big Beard didn’t stop; he pounded on him relentlessly, causing the man to continually shriek. No one else knew what was happening, and given Big Beard’s usual fierceness, no one dared to intervene.

Big Beard battered the man until his face was covered in blood before he finally stopped, spat at him, and said, ”******, did you not take the money to come here? We ventured out to earn our livelihood, and when descending into a tomb, our lives are at stake. Who forced you to come? Since you took the money, you should be prepared to fight for your life. Mr. Ye mentioned before entering the mountain that it’s dangerous; it wasn’t like you weren’t warned, so what’s the point of spouting nonsense now? We’ve reached this point, so we must find a way out together. Complaining here is useless!”

Big Beard supported Ye Qing, helping him maintain order. Being fierce by nature, making heavy hand, those few people kept quiet, exchanging looks but daring not to protest. After all, Big Beard was too formidable.

”So what do you think we should do now?” A man summoned his courage to ask, and the others also looked to Big Beard for guidance.

”How the hell should I know what to do?” Big Beard glared and said, ”But we still have some time, and if we brainstorm together, we might get out of this place alive.”

”What solutions are there?”

”We’re surrounded by so many long-toothed rats. This isn’t just a few hundred or a few thousand, this is at least hundreds of thousands. Do you think we can escape?”

”Once outside, we’ll be gnawed to bits without even bone fragments left. What kind of plan is there to escape?”

The crowd murmured in agreement, feeling hopeless about the situation. Looking around, all they could see were masses of long-toothed rats, enough to send chills down anyone’s spine. With so many long-toothed rats attacking at once, who among them could survive?

Even Ye Qing was anxious. Although he possessed the protection of Buddhist and Taoist demon powers, making him impervious to knife and bullet, who knew if he could withstand so many long-toothed rats pouncing at once?

Finding a way to escape these long-toothed rats posed a significant challenge.

Ye Qing frowned deeply in thought, while the long-toothed rats began to exhibit impatience, seemingly eager to break into the area within the fire. This horrified everyone further. Generally, wild beasts feared fire, but if these long-toothed rats were fearless even of fire, what could be done?

As the long-toothed rats approached, the crowd became more frightened, clustering together with no idea of what to do. Meanwhile, the fire heap was gradually dwindling, and it was only a matter of time before the rats all pounced.

”Damn it, even Fat Lord is a hero. Do I really have to end up in the belly of these rats?” Handsome Fatty Wang exclaimed while patting his belly.

None of the others had time to argue at this moment, everyone was fearfully watching the long-toothed rats around them, it was truly terrifying.

”What do we do? What do we do?” Old Chen was clutching Ye Qing’s clothes, yelling incessantly.

Ye Qing turned his head and looked around, his gaze fixated for a while on the boulders behind them. For safety’s sake, when choosing a place to rest, they had deliberately selected a spot near a pile of stones. Behind them was a heap of large rocks, so even if it rained, there was nothing to worry about; these large rocks protrude a bit and could be used to block the rain.

After pondering for a moment, Ye Qing suddenly said, ”Take out all the tents!”

”What are you doing?” The group was surprised, not understanding why Ye Qing suddenly suggested taking out the tents at this moment.

Ye Qing: ”Cut the tents into fragments and wrap part of them, soaked in water, around our bodies.”

”What the hell, with this weather, soaking the tents in water to wrap yourself, are you trying to commit suicide?” A man immediately said anxiously, being near the snow belt, the temperature was very low.

”Stop talking nonsense, hurry up and do it!” Ye Qing shouted loudly, and he first took out a tent, cut a piece from it, soaked it in water, and wrapped himself inside with the tent.

The others were looking at Ye Qing in astonishment, unsure of what Ye Qing was trying to do, so no one followed suit.

However, Fat Wang and Big Beard, who were closer to Ye Qing, also followed his instructions, soaking the tent in water and wrapping themselves up.

”What do we do now?” Big Beard asked.

Ye Qing said in a deep voice, ”Wrap the remaining tents in gasoline, set them alight, and then run up the mountain!”

The group around widened their eyes, finally understanding Ye Qing’s intention at this moment. It turns out he planned to turn themselves into fire people and run out from among the long-toothed rats.

These long-toothed rats feared fire; as long as there was fire burning on the group, they certainly wouldn’t dare approach. And Ye Qing had earlier ripped some tents, soaked them wet to wrap around their bodies, to insulate the heat. Although wrapped in burning tents, they should be able to withstand for a period of time. As long as they reached the snow belt, these long-toothed rats wouldn’t follow. The question was whether this time would last long enough for them to reach the snow belt.

”Great idea!” Big Beard’s eyes lit up, and he immediately tore down the other tents, starting to soak them in gasoline.

The others looked at each other in dismay, but Old Chen was the most decisive, quickly grabbing a tent and mimicking Ye Qing’s actions.

”Can... can we actually make it up the mountain?” One man questioned, ”With this temperature, I’m afraid we won’t reach the snow belt before getting roasted ourselves.”

”If you don’t make it, you’re either roasted, or these long-toothed rats eat you.” Ye Qing glanced at the man and said in a deep voice, ”But, if you don’t run, you’re certain to be eaten by these long-toothed rats. It’s up to you to decide what to do!”

Ye Qing’s words made everyone’s hearts stir; it was indeed true. If they didn’t run, they would surely die; might as well take the risk. The long-toothed rats around were getting closer, and soon, when they really came over, the group wouldn’t be able to run.

Everyone started tearing down the tents, soaking them in water to wrap themselves tightly, and then sprinkled gasoline on other tents, wrapping another layer.

Once everyone was ready, Big Beard looked at Ye Qing and said, ”Mr. Ye, shall we start?”

”Not in such a hurry!” Ye Qing didn’t rush to run but asked everyone to step aside. He took out the Scabbard of the Ancestor of Miao Dao and began to use it to chop the boulders behind.

Some of these boulders protruded, and Ye Qing chopped from the protruding position. The power of the Scabbard of the Ancestor of Miao Dao was strong enough that with a few chops, the boulders were cut into a massive gap. And the protruding front part, because it was too heavy, had started to shake, on the verge of dropping.
