Urban Martial Saint

A swarm of small mice burst out from all directions, encircling the group and terrifying everyone to the extreme. They had seen fierce beasts many times before, but they had never encountered mice with eyes more menacing than those of wild beasts. Moreover, these mice were not very large, appearing much less intimidating than household mice, which further diminished any sense of threat.

Among the group, only Ye Qing looked the most serious. This was because he had already guessed that these mice were the Long-toothed Rats Zhou Yue had mentioned. According to Zhou Yue, Long-toothed Rats were the most dangerous species in the entire Xiliang Mountain Range. Though not large in size, they were extremely fierce. Even within the Xiliang Mountain, where there were many wild beasts, those large animals could not withstand the Long-toothed Rats, simply because the Long-toothed Rats were too numerous. Wherever the Long-toothed Rats passed, it wasn’t just wolves that were at risk—even tigers and leopards would be gnawed down to nothing but bones, which demonstrated just how ferocious these Long-toothed Rats were. As for humans encountering these rats, the outcome was even less hopeful; there wasn’t even a chance of survival.

Ye Qing was the only one whom Zhou Yue had told about this, so nobody else was aware of it, leaving the others unworried as Ye Qing was.

”What the hell are these? Mice?” Fat Wang said while picking up a small stone from the side and hurling it at one of the Long-toothed Rats.

This Long-toothed Rat, whether sluggish or just foolish, faced Fat Wang’s little rock without any intention to dodge it, and it got hit directly. This seemingly enraged the Long-toothed Rat, which let out a low growl and stared intently at Fat Wang, with the rest of the Long-toothed Rats behind it also fixating on Fat Wang as if they were ready to tear him to pieces.

”Hey, you dare to throw a tantrum at me?” Fat Wang scoffed and raised his foot, ready to deal with the Long-toothed Rat.

Seeing this, Ye Qing quickly pulled Fat Wang back, saying urgently, ”Are you looking to die?”

”What is it?” Fat Wang asked in surprise, while others also looked puzzled.

”What’s the big deal? It’s just a bunch of mice. Mr. Ye, you don’t need to be so agitated!” a man comforted Ye Qing, ”Mice are easy to deal with; just scare them away, and they will all retreat. I can stomp a dozen of them to death with one step!”

Seeing their attitude, Ye Qing frowned and said solemnly, ”Don’t underestimate these mice. They’re the most dangerous species in the Xiliang Mountain area, called Long-toothed Rats, extremely fierce. They move in packs, and en masse, they can gnaw tigers or leopards down to the bones!”

Ye Qing’s words made everyone glance at each other, and then several of them laughed at the same time, clearly not believing him.

”Ye Zi, you sure tell a good story!” Fat Wang laughed, patting Ye Qing’s shoulder, ”They are just a bunch of mice, could they really kill tigers and leopards? Okay, stop teasing. Let’s deal with these small mice first, then take a rest. Going up the mountain tomorrow is the real task!”

Speaking, Fat Wang waved at two people, indicating for them to take care of the Long-toothed Rats.

The two men were bold too, they didn’t even take any weapons and directly walked towards the Long-toothed Rats.

”Don’t go!” Ye Qing shouted urgently, but the two did not listen, laughing as they walked over.

One of the men moved a bit faster, reaching the front of the rat swarm first, and stomped his foot down, saying loudly, ”Little things, get out quickly, or I’ll stomp you all to death!”

Just as the man spoke, his foot landed on the ground. However, the rats moved extremely fast; by the time he stomped down, several rats had already scurried away, avoiding his step. Before he could even stabilize his stance, several rats leaped onto his foot and bit down.

The long teeth of these rats weren’t for nothing; with a single bite, blood immediately gushed from the man’s foot.

”Ah!” he screamed miserably, quickly lifting his foot to shake off the rats. But as soon as he lifted this foot, several more rats jumped onto his other foot, and with a few bites, that foot was bleeding profusely as well.

With injuries on both feet, the man could no longer stand, collapsing heavily onto the ground. At this moment, the surrounding Long-toothed Rats surged forward, crawling all over him. The group heard only a series of gnawing noises, and after several screams, the man fell silent, as blood pooled out.

The other man who had initially intended to stomp the rats was frightened by the scene in front of him and dared not proceed. However, as he was in shock, a few of the Long-toothed Rats boldly approached the campfire, eventually leaping onto him and starting to bite his feet.

When the man was bitten, he only reacted then, looking at the few long-toothed rats clinging to his foot, and screamed shrilly in fright, hurriedly lifting his foot to shake them off. However, these long-toothed rats clutched his foot tightly, biting desperately, and he couldn’t shake them off. And after shaking a bit, he not only failed to shake off these long-toothed rats, but instead, lost his balance and fell to the ground.

At this moment, some more rats from behind also rushed over, about to pounce and bite the man. Just then, a torch suddenly swept across, burning the few long-toothed rats at the front, making them squeak. The rats behind were startled and retreated quickly, not daring to come closer.

The person wielding the torch was Ye Qing. Seeing that the man’s situation was critical, he immediately came to his rescue. After driving those long-toothed rats away, Ye Qing quickly dragged the man back into the campfire area, not daring to hesitate for a moment. Because those long-toothed rats had already started surrounding the campfire, staring at them intently.

This situation dumbfounded everyone, no one expected these long-toothed rats to be so fierce. Although the man was dragged back by Ye Qing, several patches of flesh had already been bitten off his foot, and he was seriously injured.

”Damn it, why are these rats so vicious!” Fat Wang gasped, looking at the man outside who could no longer make a sound, and exclaimed, ”Everyone follow me, let’s save Blackie as well!”

A few people immediately grabbed torches to help, but were stopped by Ye Qing: ”Don’t go there, Blackie can’t be saved anymore, we can’t have any more casualties!”

As Ye Qing spoke, he also took out a small piece of Devouring Demon Flower fragment and fed it to the man he had rescued earlier. After the man ate the Devouring Demon Flower fragment, the bleeding finally stopped. However, with such an injury, recovery wouldn’t be easy.

”Who says he can’t be saved!” Fat Wang, unwilling to accept the harsh truth, perhaps out of too much loyalty, charged forward with a torch.

Seeing this, Ye Qing quickly grabbed a torch as well and rushed over to cover Fat Wang. Fat Wang drove back a group of long-toothed rats, rushed to Blackie’s side, grabbed Blackie’s hand, and shouted, ”Blackie, I’ll pull you back!”

With that, Fat Wang turned around to run, intending to pull Blackie back into the campfire area. But with a strong pull, his grip suddenly went empty, and he fell forward. When he got up, he realized he was only holding an arm stripped to the bone, and Blackie hadn’t been pulled out. In other words, Blackie’s arm had already been severed, and he had pulled it out!

This situation left everyone dumbfounded. Blackie had been taken down by those rats less than a minute ago, and now his arm was severed? Moreover, only bones were left on the arm, how could this happen? The speed at which these long-toothed rats devour people was unbelievably fast!

”Run!” As Fat Wang was in shock, Ye Qing shouted loudly, snapping Fat Wang back to reality. Without thinking further, he quickly retreated back into the campfire.

Over here, Ye Qing used the torch to ward off a few long-toothed rats, but in the end, he couldn’t avoid being pounced on by several more. Luckily, Ye Qing’s body was invulnerable to swords and guns, not to mention these long-toothed rats couldn’t harm him at all as they clung to him. Ye Qing directly carried them into the campfire.

Seeing Ye Qing’s return, Fat Wang was further startled and shouted: ”Young Ye, there are rats on you!”

Ye Qing didn’t respond, casually pulling a long-toothed rat off him. This long-toothed rat was really savage, even when grabbed by Ye Qing, it still growled and attempted to bite him, looking more like a tiger than a rat.

Fat Wang and the others each also pulled a few long-toothed rats off Ye Qing. Fat Wang, gritting his teeth, threw the rat into the fire, cursing: ”Damn it, dare to eat my friend, I’ll burn you to death!”

The long-toothed rat, thrown into the fire by Fat Wang, squeaked miserably a few times, trying to crawl out of the fire. However, the fire was blazing fiercely, and after struggling a few times, it went silent, with only the smell of burning flesh emanating.

The others followed Fat Wang’s example and threw the long-tooted rats into the fire, burning them all to death. However, while this vented their anger, it didn’t solve the most crucial issue. With so many long-toothed rats outside watching them closely, it was quite a challenge for everyone to figure out how to escape the encirclement.

At this time, the long-toothed rats covering Blackie also retreated, revealing Blackie beneath. However, Blackie was no longer intact, only left with a pile of shattered bones and torn clothing. From being taken down by those long-toothed rats to now, it hadn’t even been five minutes, and Blackie had been gnawed to nothing, even his bones were shattered, demonstrating just how terrifying these long-toothed rats were.

”Damn it, can these things still be called rats?” A man exclaimed angrily. They had been in the tomb for so long, and they’d seen all kinds of things. Yet, they had never encountered anything like these long-toothed rats. There were simply too many of them, and they were far too dangerous.
