Urban Martial Saint

Ye Qing’s explanation did not evoke much curiosity in Broom Star; on the contrary, he nodded calmly and said, ”I know.”

”You know?” Ye Qing widened his eyes, looking at Broom Star in surprise, and said, ”How do you know?”

You have to understand, ever since Broom Star had all the Purple Lotus Karma Fire transferred to him by the Corpse Ghost Dragon last time, he had been sitting in this inner room, in a state of meditation. Ye Qing had come in several times to speak to him, but he never answered. Ye Qing even doubted whether he could hear what he was saying. As for Ye Qing’s confrontation with the Corpse Ghost Dragon, Ye Qing hadn’t told Broom Star, and others certainly hadn’t either. But he just said he knew; what’s going on? How did he know?

Broom Star calmly said, ”I not only know about you using the Buddha’s Relic’s power to deal with the Corpse Ghost Dragon, but I also know that the Corpse Ghost Dragon is not dead!”

”What?” Ye Qing was shocked, his eyes widened, and he said, ”He... he is not dead yet? Impossible, I had already broken him into dozens of pieces, his body was shattered completely, how could he not be dead?”

Broom Star did not answer Ye Qing’s question; he merely slowly released Ye Qing’s hand and said, ”You have the power of the Demonic Sect within you, conflicting with the power of the Buddhist Sect. Before this Buddha’s Relic is completely out of your body, it’s best not to approach the Purple Lotus Karma Fire. Otherwise, the power of the Buddha’s Relic will attract the Purple Lotus Karma Fire to burn away the power of the Demonic Sect inside you. If the power of the Demonic Sect is exhausted, the power of the Buddha’s Relic will shatter your body!”

”How... how do you know?” Ye Qing couldn’t help but ask, looking at Broom Star. For some reason, he suddenly felt that this child before him was more mysterious than ever. Previously, Broom Star was already mysterious enough, but after all, he was just a child, and Ye Qing didn’t feel much. But at this moment, Ye Qing suddenly thought this child was so mysterious it was unfathomable.

Moreover, what Broom Star said, others didn’t know these things. Besides, it’s fine if he can discern the Buddha’s Relic, as it is in the palm of his hand and can be detected if looked at closely. Also, he has the Buddha Heart and is certainly more sensitive to things of the Buddhist Sect. But how did he know about the power of the Demonic Sect? Ever since entering this room, the power of the Devouring Demon Flower inside Ye Qing had not appeared, even when the power of the Buddha’s Relic was surging just now; the power of the Devouring Demon Flower hadn’t moved a bit. How did Broom Star see that there was Demonic Sect power in him?

Of course, what Broom Star said also finally made Ye Qing understand why, when the power of the Buddha’s Relic was agitated earlier, the power of the Devouring Demon Flower didn’t move an inch. It seems that the power of the Devouring Demon Flower can feel this Purple Lotus Karma Fire and has hence remained hidden within the body without coming out to protect his body due to the power of the Buddha’s Relic.

Thinking of this, Ye Qing’s heart suddenly skipped a beat. For some reason, at this moment, he suddenly had an unprecedented sense of fear. These two forces within him, facing off each other, appeared almost as if they had a mind of their own—that they were merely opposing each other was an understatement. When Ye Qing approached the Purple Lotus Karma Fire, these two forces seemed to be plotting against each other. The power of the Buddha’s Relic even knew to use the Purple Lotus Karma Fire to counter the power of the Devouring Demon Flower. And the power of the Devouring Demon Flower, upon sensing the Purple Lotus Karma Fire, also hid away, completely unmoved—a mind thinking like a human indeed. But these are merely two forces, two pure forces; why would they think like humans?

Broom Star did not answer Ye Qing’s question; he merely calmly said, ”If a similar situation happens again in the future, just recite the Prajnaparamita Heart Sutra I chanted earlier, and it will suppress the power of the Buddha’s Relic. Reciting the Prajnaparamita Heart Sutra more often can also cultivate oneself, bringing clarity of mind!”

Ye Qing looked at Broom Star; for some reason, at this moment, Broom Star appeared just like an enlightened monk, inspiring a sense of reverence.

”You know so many things, so do you know how this Buddha’s Relic entered my body?” Ye Qing asked.

Broom Star shook his head and said, ”I do not know.”

”Then do you know how to take out this Buddha’s Relic?” Ye Qing asked again.

”I do not know.” Broom Star still shook his head.

”Then what do you know?” Ye Qing was exasperated, having this Buddha’s Relic inside him felt like a constant danger.

”It’s not that I do not know about the Buddha’s Relic; it’s that I do not know about you!” Broom Star again glanced at Ye Qing and said, ”I can see through worldly matters, but I cannot see through you.”

”What do you mean?” Ye Qing widened his eyes; Broom Star’s words sounded odd. And besides, saying he could see through worldly matters seemed an exaggeration; even the Buddhist Shakya couldn’t see through worldly matters, so how could he?

”Everything has a cause; since it chose you, there must be a reason. When the time is right, it will come out; you need not worry,” said Broom Star.

”How can I not worry? If it weren’t for the fact I have the power of the Demonic Sect in me, this Buddha’s Relic would’ve burst my body by now!” Ye Qing exclaimed anxiously.

”Have you ever considered that if you didn’t have the Buddha’s Relic in your body, your body would have already been overtaken by the Demonic Sect’s power?” Broom Star retorted, ”And you would have long become a true member of the Demon Sect!”

Ye Qing widened his eyes, and his heart suddenly skipped a beat. He hadn’t considered this before. However, upon hearing Broom Star’s suggestion, he was startled. Indeed, that was the case. Originally, the power that Third Master Li had injected into him had disappeared, and now his body only contained these two forces. If there were no Buddha’s Relic power, then his body would only have the power of the Devouring Demon Flower. Calculating this way, he would essentially become a part of the Demon Sect!

Ye Qing scratched his head, looked at Broom Star, and asked in a low voice, ”Is this Demonic Sect power harmful to me?”

”That’s not how you should say it.” Broom Star shook his head and said, ”It’s just a force; it won’t harm you. On the contrary, it can be used by you. The biggest difference this power makes for you is whether you become a Buddha or a demon. However, if you turn into a member of the Demon Sect, you will be influenced by the sect’s cultivation technique, gradually becoming a part of the Demon Sect, potentially becoming a great demon.”

”Then how can I eliminate this Demonic Sect power?” Ye Qing hurriedly asked.

Broom Star shook his head and said, ”I don’t know.”

”This…” Ye Qing was helpless. The most critical question, Broom Star claimed not to know. Asking all these questions was essentially in vain.

”Do you know how you yourself became like this?” Ye Qing couldn’t help but ask, astonished at Broom Star’s transformation, which was too great for him to fully grasp.

Broom Star smiled, clasped his hands, and softly said, ”Bodhi gives no fruit of enlightenment; only today I realize I am myself.”

Ye Qing widened his eyes again. When Broom Star said this, he appeared even more like an enlightened monk. Is this still the same child? Although he frequently spoke philosophical sayings in the past, Ye Qing could still see him as a child then. However, now, despite his appearance and voice being immature, his words and demeanor were exactly like those of high-level monks who have practiced Zen cultivation for decades!

Ye Qing wanted to ask more, but Broom Star had already closed his eyes, as if entering a meditative trance again. Moreover, just then, the chamber door was suddenly pushed open, and Ye Qing, far away, heard Bai Li Xi’s voice calling out: ”Oh, oh, oh! Can’t you slow down? Do my old arms and legs run faster than you young folks? I just examined him yesterday, there’s no major illness, what’s the rush? Even if you’re in a hurry, at least let me clean my behind first, okay? I hadn’t even finished my bowel movement before you pulled me out; is it this humiliating being a doctor?”

Ye Qing turned his head to look, only to see Huangfu Ziyu dragging Bai Li Xi into the chamber, her face filled with anxiety. Seeing Ye Qing standing inside, she was immediately stunned, her face full of disbelief. She had just gone out to find Bai Li Xi because Ye Qing looked extremely weak, unable to even speak. But now, not long after, Ye Qing had returned to normal and had walked into the inner chamber himself. The illness came quickly and went even faster!

Bai Li Xi also saw Ye Qing and was taken aback upon seeing him.

”This... this is what you meant by too sick to stand?” Bai Li Xi said, widening his eyes at Huangfu Ziyu and pointed at Ye Qing, ”Explain to me how this guy is standing now!”

Huangfu Ziyu was also baffled. She hurriedly walked into the inner chamber, looking at Ye Qing with surprise, and said, ”Ye Qing, how are you feeling now?”

”I’m much better.” Ye Qing didn’t know how to explain the matters of the Buddha’s Relic and Devouring Demon Flower to them and simply said, ”I indeed felt unwell earlier, but now I feel fine.”

”Damn it!” Bai Li Xi stomped his foot and said, ”Your slight discomfort pit me terribly. I was dragged out of the toilet by your wife, without a chance to clean my behind, and she took me away. You damned kid, you owe me a pair of shorts!”

Ye Qing was immediately speechless, but Huangfu Ziyu ignored Bai Li Xi. She walked over, grabbed Ye Qing, and said quietly, ”Why don’t you let him examine you again? Since you suddenly felt unwell, there might be something going on with your body.”

Ye Qing couldn’t refuse. If he didn’t let Bai Li Xi examine him, Huangfu Ziyu would certainly continue to worry. So, he walked over to get examined by Bai Li Xi.

Inside the chamber, Broom Star had already sunk back into a meditative state, and external concerns seemed unable to affect him. Ye Qing’s mind was full of questions. Still, it wasn’t appropriate to ask in front of Huangfu Ziyu and Bai Li Xi, and given Broom Star closed his eyes as they arrived, it suggested he preferred not to converse with them. Therefore, Ye Qing simply decided not to ask anymore, intending to wait until he was alone and could talk with Broom Star later.
