Urban Martial Saint

Two police cars sped towards the waste disposal plant, and the police officers on board had loaded their guns, ready to take this opportunity to eliminate a group of ruthless bandits and earn merit. That was a great chance for promotion.

The deputy captain, however, didn’t hurry to pack up his gear. He kept staring at the helicopter in mid-air. As the distance closed, his complexion visibly changed, as if he had seen something terrifying.

Seeing the waste disposal plant ahead, Third Brother turned to the crowd and said in a deep voice, ”Is everyone ready? Let me repeat, once we go over there, if these bandits resist, we have to eliminate them without hesitation. Understood?”

”Yes!” the officers replied in unison, but only the deputy captain’s face changed drastically. Just as everyone finished speaking, he suddenly stood up, grabbed the driver ahead, and said urgently, ”Turn around, quickly turn around!”

”Huh?” the driver was stunned for a moment, unsure what the deputy captain was up to.

Everyone else was equally perplexed, and Third Brother was even furious, ”Jian Bin, are you crazy? Why turn around now?”

The deputy captain said solemnly, ”I’m not crazy. Captain, if you want to die, I won’t stop you. But don’t drag the brothers to their deaths. If you don’t turn around now, it will be too late!”

”What the hell are you talking about?” Third Brother raged, ”Do you mean that we can’t deal with those bandits with so many people? I refuse to believe it. How many bandits can there be on the other side? This is a chance for the brothers to get promoted, and you still want to keep the brothers from promotion?”

”Captain, whether it’s for promotion or avenging your family, you know best in your heart!” the deputy captain said solemnly, ”Revenge is revenge, but don’t drag us down. I’m telling you, these aren’t bandits!”

”Not bandits?” The nearby police were surprised, one of them asked curiously, ”Deputy Captain, if these aren’t bandits, then what are they?”

The deputy captain looked at the helicopter in the air and said solemnly, ”You can tell from the helicopter. It’s equipped for military use, with unit numbers on it, should be from the garrison in Shenchuan City. Moreover, this kind of helicopter is dual-purpose for combat and transport, equipped with heavy machine guns, basically a flying fortress.”

The deputy captain continued, looking at Third Brother again, and said solemnly, ”I was a soldier before joining the police force, I’m very clear about these things. Captain, this type of military helicopter isn’t something ordinary people can mobilize. To mobilize it, a top-level figure in the military district must decide. And if it’s not for a mission, it’s not just the high-level in the Shenchuan City military district that can decide, probably only the provincial military region’s high-level can mobilize it. Captain, I don’t know what’s happening in there, and I’m not interested in knowing. I only know that the military district isn’t something we can offend. So, if you want revenge, go in yourself, but don’t drag us down!”

The deputy captain’s words left everyone, including Third Brother, stunned and speechless for a while.

The driver had already stopped the car, or rather quietly turned it around. He wasn’t an idiot and understood the consequences of going further. Besides, the deputy captain had indeed been a soldier for many years, and his words could not be false.

”Captain, what… what’s really happening here?” A police officer couldn’t help but ask in a low voice, ”How did it involve the military?”

”I… how would I know?” Third Brother replied, looking frustrated, ”I only know my nephew had a conflict with someone here and got a bit injured. But this place is just a garbage dump with some beggars picking through trash. How the hell does this involve the military?”

”Don’t ask why now, Captain, I advise you to act like you know nothing.” The deputy captain said solemnly, ”The less we know about this matter, the better.”

”But my big brother got shot inside!” Third Brother cried out.

”If you want to go in, go in yourself, I’m not going!” The deputy captain replied straightforwardly.

”I’m not going either!”

”I’m not going in!”

The other police officers all refused to move forward. It was obvious, with the military helicopter involved, who would go looking for death at this point?

Third Brother scratched his head vigorously, finally swallowed his saliva reluctantly, turned around and said, ”Turn around, go back to the division. No one talks about tonight’s matter, we pretend we know nothing!”

The driver had already turned the car around, and with Third Brother’s order, he drove back without a word, not daring to get any closer to the garbage dump. It didn’t take long before they returned to the division. At this moment, the division was also busy, even the division chief was personally leading the efforts.

Seeing Third Brother and his team return, the division chief waved them over, ”Ah, Third Brother, you all finally came back. Hurry, take your team over to help!”

”Chief, what big case is this? Why is everyone so busy?” Third Brother asked in surprise.

”No case!” The division chief sighed, helplessly said, ”We just got news, over five hundred cars crossed the river into our jurisdiction from Shenchuan City. Moreover, among those who crossed, many have criminal records. I called the city bureau, they didn’t respond at all, how can I not be anxious?”

”Over five hundred cars?” Third Brother’s eyes widened, ”How… how many people went over?”

”Over five hundred cars, at least two thousand people!” The division chief’s face turned as red as a pig liver, ”I’ve been a cop my whole life, never seen such a huge formation. If anything goes wrong tonight, we’re all in trouble. Quick, take your captain to organize and maintain stability, nothing should happen. Now these people are like gods, we can’t provoke them, it’d be best if they pass peacefully and quietly, we’ll be thanking the heavens if nothing happens!”

Seeing the division chief’s expression, it was obvious this matter was giving him a migraine. Third Brother too was frowning, for some reason, he had a strong feeling that the crossing of these five hundred cars was inextricably linked to the waste disposal plant.

The military’s helicopter was here, and almost all of Shenchuan City’s underground forces had mobilized, could it really all be about the waste disposal plant? But, inside the waste disposal plant, what exactly was going on that demanded such a great formation?

Third Brother didn’t dare think too much, at this moment he was completely aware that listening to the deputy captain and retreating from the waste disposal plant was definitely a wise choice. One more step forward, and they might have died without knowing why. Sitting safely in the division now was indeed something to be thankful for!

While no one was noticing, Third Brother discreetly went to the backyard and called an old friend in Shenchuan City. This old friend was also in the police system and was well-informed over there. He made the call to find out what was really happening.

”Third Brother, we’re brothers, that’s why I’m telling you this, don’t you dare spread it out!” The old friend was clearly very cautious about this matter.

”Rest assured, don’t you know what kind of person I am?” Third Brother immediately replied.

”That’s good!” The old friend paused and then said in a low voice, ”The over five hundred cars were under Li Lianshan from Shenchuan City.”

”Li Lianshan?” Third Brother gasped, although he was in a suburban county of Shenchuan City, the name Li Lianshan was not unfamiliar to him at all. He surely knew that this was someone he absolutely couldn’t mess with!

The old friend spoke in a low voice, ”I also got the news, tonight Li Lianshan is taking action. Despite the grand scale of over five hundred cars, Shenchuan City has given them the green light, I still don’t know what’s going on. But you’d better be careful. Li Lianshan’s influence in Shenchuan City, you should have heard about it. Once he’s over, no matter what happens, you’d better stay out of it. This is my friendly advice!”

”What action are they taking?” Third Brother asked quietly.

”The details I don’t know either, it’s just my guess.” The old friend said, ”These days, Li Lianshan’s brother, that Ye Qing, disappeared in the Mid-Mountain Canyon of Shenchuan City, they’ve been busy searching for Ye Qing. Logically, they shouldn’t have time for anything else. But suddenly there’s such a big move tonight, I suspect this also has something to do with Ye Qing!”

”Ye Qing?” Third Brother’s frown deepened, he had naturally heard of this name too.

”That’s all I know, anyhow remember my words, don’t get involved.” The old friend whispered, ”This must remain confidential.”

”Okay.” Third Brother responded, slowly setting down the phone, yet his brows furrowed more tightly. According to the old friend’s words, could it really be related to Ye Qing? But if it’s related to Ye Qing, how is it connected to the waste disposal plant?

After thinking for a long time, Third Brother still couldn’t figure out the reason, he shook his head hard, simply deciding not to think about it. After all, he had remembered his friend’s advice, definitely not involving himself in it, and that was enough. As for his big brother Tiger Master’s matters, he no longer had the energy to care for, nor the courage, so he simply decided not to think about it.

In this situation, let alone if Tiger Master were killed, even if their whole family were wiped out, he couldn’t change anything. Not just considering the military’s power, merely those over five hundred cars from Li Lianshan were enough to crush their entire family. The gap in strength was simply too vast, their family compared to Li Lianshan was like ants to an elephant, completely incomparable!
