Pi Junchao invited Ye Qing and Black Bear to sit down and warmly said, ”Mr. Ye, I heard you went home for a visit. How was it? Did you manage to handle everything at home? If you need any help, just let me know. We are brothers; don’t be a stranger!”

”Hehe...” Ye Qing smiled faintly, nonchalantly picked up the teacup beside him, and gently sipped, saying, ”You’re right, I actually came here because I need your help with something. But it’s not about my family affairs, but something else.”

”Oh? What is it?” Pi Junchao raised his eyebrows and said, ”Mr. Ye, just tell me, and if I can help, I will definitely do so!”

Ye Qing looked at Pi Junchao and said, ”Boss Pi must have heard about what happened to Li, right?”

”Are you talking about Li Lianshan?” Pi Junchao pretended to be casual and said, ”What happened? What happened to Boss Li?”

Ye Qing chuckled inwardly. Pi Junchao was too clever for his own good, and his cleverness led him astray. The incident where Li Lianshan was attacked wasn’t a big deal nor a minor one, yet just before the Southern Suburbs Dogfight Arena was about to open, he was attacked; news of this must have spread quickly. Pi Junchao was so concerned about the Dog Field that it would be strange if he hadn’t heard about it. The fact that Pi Junchao now acted as though he knew nothing only meant that he had something to hide!

Ye Qing didn’t specify but merely sighed and said, ”Tonight, while I was dining with Li, someone came out of nowhere and attacked Li.”

Pi Junchao exclaimed, ”What? That happened? How is Boss Li? Was he hurt? Is it severe? Where is he now?”

”The injury isn’t serious; the person didn’t aim to kill Li but seemed to only want to warn him.” Ye Qing paused and then said, ”However, the circumstances of the incident are quite peculiar!”

A flicker of panic crossed Pi Junchao’s eyes as he said, ”Peculiar? How so?”

”I asked Li, and he doesn’t know the person who attacked him at all. That means, the attacker certainly wasn’t acting out of personal reasons. So, it is very likely that someone hired a hit to target Li.” Ye Qing continued, ”Li has his fair share of enemies in Shenchuan City; those who might hire someone to warn him aren’t many. Moreover, Boss Pi, think about the timing—just when the Southern Suburbs Dogfight Arena is about to open. Don’t you find the timing of this attack too peculiar?”

Pi Junchao’s heart skipped a beat. He picked up the teacup from the table to hide his embarrassment and said, ”Are you suggesting someone does not want the Southern Suburbs Dogfight Arena to open?”

”It’s just my guess!” Ye Qing replied. ”Of course, other possibilities aren’t ruled out. But I feel this is the most likely!”

”What you say makes sense!” Pi Junchao nodded and said, ”But in this case, what do you want me to help you with?”

Ye Qing looked at Pi Junchao, gave a faint smile, and said, ”I’ve analyzed it a bit—if indeed someone is using this incident to prevent the opening of the Southern Suburbs Dogfight Arena, who might the culprit be?”

Pi Junchao’s heart began to pound uncontrollably, he wiped off some cold sweat and asked, ”Well... who do you think it is?”

”I believe it’s one of two groups.” Ye Qing looked at Pi Junchao, paused for a long while until Pi Junchao’s gaze turned somewhat panicky, and then he continued, ”Either Tianqing Gang or Fu Bang!”

Pi Junchao was so nervous under Ye Qing’s intense gaze, his heart almost leapt out; he thought Ye Qing had seen through that it was his Fierce Tiger Gang. But then, Ye Qing excluded the Fierce Tiger Gang and pointed directly at Tianqing Gang and Fu Bang, allowing Pi Junchao to sigh with relief. His wildly beating heart gradually calmed down, and the tension in his mind loosened significantly.

”That’s a possibility!” Pi Junchao nodded and said, ”Recently, both Tianqing Gang and Fu Bang have been vying for the management rights of the Southern Suburbs Dogfight Arena. Now that Li Lianshan has seized it, their wanting to prevent the Dog Field from opening makes sense. However, their means are quite despicable; it’s infuriating!”

”Yes, it’s maddening just thinking about someone hiring a hit to attack Li!” Ye Qing slammed his fist on the table and angrily said, ”Tianqing Gang and Fu Bang have gone too far. I originally did not want to be their enemy. But now that they’ve resorted to such despicable means to attack Li, I must demand an explanation from them!”

Pi Junchao internally laughed at how naive Ye Qing was, but he nodded solemnly and said, ”Right, we absolutely cannot condone such actions!”

Ye Qing looked at Pi Junchao and said, ”So, Boss Pi also thinks I should demand an explanation from them?”

Pi Junchao spoke earnestly, ”This matter must be resolved, or else there might be a second, third, even a fourth time. It must be dealt with once and for all to make them realize that you are not to be trifled with—that’s the only way to eliminate future problems!”

”Boss Pi is right!” Ye Qing nodded repeatedly, ”Since that’s the case, I really do need to confront them for clarification. But, I’m afraid they might not admit it!”

”Just because they don’t admit it doesn’t mean they didn’t do it,” Pi Junchao said. ”Even if they deny it, they still need to clarify things!”

”I think it’s best to find evidence first!” Ye Qing fell silent for a moment, then looked at Pi Junchao, ”Boss Pi, I need help with something!”

Pi Junchao said, ”Ye, just say the word. If there’s anything I can help with, I definitely won’t refuse!”

”I need to demand answers from the Tianqing Gang and the Fu Bang, and I need solid evidence to do so. In fact, finding the person who ambushed Li isn’t difficult—there were witnesses last night who saw the car he was in and got the license plate number. Just by following this license plate number, we can definitely find this person!” Ye Qing looked at Pi Junchao, ”Boss Pi, I’m short-handed right now. Could you arrange for a few people to help me track this person down first?”

Upon hearing this, Pi Junchao felt like his scalp was about to explode. He hadn’t expected Ye Qing to have found the license plate number of the car, and now he was being asked to help track the person down—wasn’t this like throwing himself into the net? If that person was really found, Pi Junchao would be the first to suffer!

”So, where… where exactly did he go?” Pi Junchao asked somewhat awkwardly. ”If it’s too far, I might not be able to help much.”

Ye Qing said, ”I’m still investigating. If it’s really too far, then I’ll go find him myself. However, I would need Boss Pi to look after my place for a few days!”

”This...” Pi Junchao scratched his head, ”That’s not impossible. After all, between brothers, helping you is only right. But, Ye, there’s something I’m not sure if I should say!”

Ye Qing said, ”Boss Pi, just speak freely!”

Pi Junchao said, ”Have you considered that, even if you do find this guy and bring him back, you might not be able to do much to the Tianqing Gang and the Fu Bang? Their strength is just too overwhelming here in Shenchuan City. Dealing with them isn’t easy. If you press them too hard and make them desperate, the situation might become even more difficult to manage!”

”That’s also true,” Ye Qing frowned and thought for a while, ”So what do we do now? We can’t just let the matter with Li go unaddressed. You just said it yourself, if we don’t address this thoroughly, they will only escalate their actions, and next time Li might even lose his life!”

”This… Such matters should be carefully planned, we shouldn’t rush...” Pi Junchao thought for a moment, ”How about this, let’s pretend this incident never happened for now. For the time being, assign more people to protect Boss Li, denying them the opportunity to make a move. Once the Southern Suburbs Dogfight Arena opens, they won’t have any reason to go after Boss Li anymore, and all will be well!”

Pi Junchao said this because he didn’t want Ye Qing to actually go and find that person. If that person were really found, he would definitely be in trouble. Once the evidence was irrefutable, and if Ye Qing decided to take action against him, he would have no defense.

”That... ” Ye Qing pondered, and said, ”I’ve also considered your suggestion, but we are indeed short-staffed right now. You know my situation, we have too few people to begin with, barely managing several venues, how could we protect someone else? Even Li’s men have been busy recently, we really can’t handle anything more.”

Pi Junchao urgently said, ”Even if it’s hard to spare people, we need to find a way to ensure his safety—that’s the key!”

Ye Qing looked distressed, thought for a long time, and finally shook his head, ”No, I really can’t spare anyone. Regardless, I’ll go confront them to clarify things first, to get their side of the story. Otherwise, I, Ye, am ready to risk my life to fight it out with them!”

Ye Qing was beginning to sound ruthless, but Pi Junchao was absolutely terrified. If Ye Qing really confronted the Tianqing Gang and the Fu Bang, they were sure to be enraged. Knowing they weren’t behind it, they would certainly deny any involvement and would likely investigate who was framing them. Given the strength of the Tianqing Gang and the Fu Bang, exposing the Fierce Tiger Gang would be easy for them. If that happened, Ye Qing wouldn’t even need to take action himself, as the Tianqing Gang and the Fu Bang would handle him!

”Ye, you can’t be impulsive!” Pi Junchao hurriedly stopped Ye Qing, urgently saying, ”If we can’t find the person, we can think of other solutions. If all else fails, borrowing some people is also an option. There’s no need to completely fall out with the Tianqing Gang and the Fu Bang at this time!”

”Borrow people?” Ye Qing looked up at Pi Junchao, ”Where can I borrow people now? Boss Pi, you know I don’t have many friends in Shenchuan City. Apart from you and Li, I have no one to turn to but you for help. But you’re also busy, and I don’t want to interfere with your affairs. Frankly, I feel it’s better to just talk to them. If they agree not to attack Li anymore, we can live in peace. If they don’t agree, damn it, I’ll take them down first!”
