Urban Martial Saint

Lin Tianyou was also from the Lin family of Shenchuan City, and, by all accounts, given the vast enterprise of the Lin family, he should have been much richer than he was now. However, he liked nothing except for medicine.

Having returned from studying medicine abroad, he was already called the Divine Doctor of Shenchuan City, yet he was not satisfied and studied various types of knowledge every day. Especially certain medical techniques, which were extremely attractive to him.

His relationship with Ye Qing was so strong because Ye Qing had taught him many techniques from the Acupoint Seeking Technique, and now their relationship was extraordinarily good. Otherwise, given Lin Tianyou’s status, even if Ye Qing were wealthy, it would be very difficult to schedule a consultation with him, let alone have him personally visit Jiuchuan County.

Hearing Lin Tianyou say this, Ye said, ”If there’s an opportunity, I’ll take you there. However, many of the older generation are no longer around, so don’t hold too much hope!”

Lin Tianyou smiled and said, ”No matter the size of hope, having hope is enough!”

Ye Qing nodded and said, ”Alright, it’s getting late, let’s head into the county town first. You must be nearly exhausted from the journey, go rest first, and once you’ve rested, we can start the treatment.”

”You’re right, I really can’t take it anymore.” Lin Tianyou handed the car keys to Ye Qing, saying, ”Let your friend drive my car, I’ll ride with you. My eyelids were battling each other while I was driving just now, I’m truly too tired.”

Ye Qing handed the car keys to Da Fei, who immediately went to drive Lin Tianyou’s car, while Ye Qing drove with Lin Tianyou.

Before even returning to the county town, Lin Tianyou had already fallen asleep in the car, which showed how truly exhausted he was. When Ye Qing returned, it had been Ye Qing and Da Fei taking turns driving. But this time, Lin Tianyou came alone, and the journey had indeed been exhausting.

Ye Qing brought Lin Tianyou to Old Fifth Yang’s villa and had him stay there to rest.

Old Fifth Yang didn’t know Lin Tianyou’s true status, but seeing how Ye Qing was even warmer to him than to Xu Changzhi, he naturally treated Lin Tianyou very well.

At the hospital, Gu Xianping found out that the doctor Ye Qing had arranged had already arrived in Jiuchuan County and was waiting in the hospital early in the morning. He was more anxious than anyone else. However, despite the urgency, they had to let Lin Tianyou rest first. After all, such a surgery could not afford any negligence and demanded the doctor’s complete attention.

Lin Tianyou slept for more than five hours straight and only woke up at about two in the afternoon. Old Fifth Yang had arranged lunch, and after eating with Ye Qing, Lin Tianyou jogged in Old Fifth Yang’s yard for about half an hour. Warming up aside, he also fully regained his energy, and then followed Ye Qing to the hospital.

Gu Xianping watched eagerly in the hospital, having barely eaten a few bites of lunch. It was with much relief that he saw Ye Qing bring a young man into the hospital, and he hurried over, asking urgently, ”Ye Qing, is... is this Divine Doctor Lin?”

”Yes.” Ye Qing introduced Lin Tianyou to everyone, and Gu Xianping hurriedly went to shake Lin Tianyou’s hand, as though clutching a lifeline.

”Divine Doctor Lin, please, I beg you, you must save my daughter...” Gu Xianping nearly prayed as he pleaded.

”Old sir, don’t worry. Ye Zi’s matter is my matter, I will do my best.” Lin Tianyou replied with a light smile, then followed everyone towards the ward, but suddenly, Huang Feiming’s voice sounded from behind: ”Wait a moment!”

Everyone turned to look, only to see Xu Changzhi and Huang Feiming walking over, with two middle-aged men in white coats beside Huang Feiming. These two middle-aged men had an arrogant look on their faces; apart from some respect towards Xu Changzhi and Huang Feiming, they regarded everyone else with sheer disdain, clearly not taking others here seriously.

”Ye!” Xu Changzhi came over and said, ”These two are neurology specialists from the hospitals of Pingnan Province, with outstanding achievements in neurology. For Yaqing’s condition, I asked a friend in the province to invite them here overnight. Ye, they have rich clinical experience in treating neurological diseases.”

Though Xu Changzhi didn’t state it outright, his implication was quite clear, my doctors should be somewhat better than the one you’ve found. Of course, Xu Changzhi meant no harm; he simply wanted to help Ye Qing and ensure the best chances for saving Gu Yaqing.

Lin Guoqiang was standing nearby and upon seeing the two middle-aged men, startled, then suddenly exclaimed, ”Hey, isn’t that Director Chen? Director Chen Weimin?”

The recognized man, more arrogant, said, ”I am Chen Weimin!”

”It really is Director Chen!” Lin Guoqiang was overjoyed, hurriedly going up to shake hands with Chen Weimin, saying, ”I’ve long heard the great reputation of Director Chen but never had the chance to meet you. I never expected my luck today to meet Director Chen here. Director Chen, I have read your article on tumor diagnosis, truly, after reading it, I was amazed. Director Chen, you really are a giant in our medical field!”

Lin Guoqiang’s flattery was indeed loud, but it was also appropriate, as Chen Weimin was indeed the Director of the provincial hospital, far superior to him, the director of a county hospital.

Chen Weimin smiled smugly, finding Lin Guoqiang’s flattery very pleasing.

”Hmph.” The man beside Chen Weimin snorted with dissatisfaction clearly displayed on his face.

Seeing his reaction, Huang Feiming hurried over and said, ”Let me introduce you. This is a visiting professor at Pingnan Medical University and a top-level expert at the Pingnan Province Brain Hospital, Director Zhou Bufan!”

Hearing this, Lin Guoqiang’s expression changed again. He had, of course, heard of Zhou Bufan. Although he was just a director, he was no less esteemed than Chen Weimin, especially since he had consulted for a veteran-level figure in the Capital. In Pingnan Province, he truly was an authority!

”So, it’s Director Zhou, what a pleasure indeed!” Lin Guoqiang hurriedly went over to shake hands with Zhou Bufan, saying with a smile, ”Director Zhou is a master of medicine. That consultation in the Capital years ago is still talked about as a wonderful story. I never imagined I’d have the honor to meet Director Zhou today. I really need to go home and see if my family’s ancestral tombs are exhaling green smoke!”

Zhou Bufan looked a bit more pleased, but Chen Weimin furrowed his brows, interrupting Lin Guoqiang impatiently, ”Enough, no need for idle chatter. My time is very limited, it’s not easy coming to Jiuchuan County. Which patient needs surgery? I’ll take a look right away; let’s not waste time. There’s a patient waiting for me in Wuling City with Mayor Cui!”

The man’s mention of a mayor was clearly a way to boast about his status. However, this indeed shocked everyone around, especially those in the hospital. They rarely even saw a county mayor, yet Chen Weimin’s patients casually included a city mayor—what a significant status! And such a person had come to Jiuchuan County to consult for a poor old teacher’s daughter, which was truly astonishing.

People unaware of the inside story couldn’t understand how Gu Xianping had the capability to invite the two most competent figures from Pingnan’s medical field. Those who knew the inside story understood that it was all because of Ye Qing. If not for Ye Qing’s relationship with Xu Changzhi, how could these two have been invited?

Ye Qing stood by somewhat awkwardly, knowing Xu Changzhi did it for Gu Yaqing’s well-being. However, having already invited Lin Tianyou, and now with these two doctors arriving, what should he do?

Ye Qing looked at the two doctors and then at Lin Tianyou, about to speak, but Lin Tianyou had already spoken first, ”No problem, I can take this opportunity to learn something from the two seniors.”

Lin Guoqiang clapped his hands and laughed, ”The thoughts of this colleague are excellent. People who are as eager to learn as you will definitely make a mark in the medical field someday!”

Truth be told, Lin Tianyou was quite young, and compared to Chen Weimin and Zhou Bufan, people tended to trust the latter two more. After all, when it comes to being a doctor, sometimes experience matters. Being young, where could he have gotten much experience?

”Doctor Lin, this...” Ye Qing looked somewhat uneasy, absolutely trusting Lin Tianyou. However, he could see that Gu Xianping trusted those two doctors even more, given their highly esteemed reputations.

”It’s okay,” Lin Tianyou smiled faintly, saying, ”I came here firstly to save someone, and secondly to meet some renowned doctors. Since the patient can be saved and I also have the chance to meet these two seniors and learn something, it truly makes my trip worthwhile!”

Ye Qing earnestly said, ”Doctor Lin, thank you so much!”

”What are you being formal for?” Lin Tianyou smiled lightly, approaching the two and asked, ”Seniors, when can we start the surgery?”

”What’s the rush?” Chen Weimin glanced at him and said, ”You act as if you’re very busy. Are you busier than me?”

”Haha...” Faced with Chen Weimin’s attitude, Lin Tianyou just responded with a humble smile, saying nothing in return.

Chen Weimin snorted and turned to Zhou Bufan, ”Old Zhou, you do it or should I?”

Zhou Bufan responded, ”It’s a minor ailment; either of us can handle it. It’s just over an hour’s work.”

Chen Weimin proudly said, ”Indeed, these small matters are hardly troubling. But, since we’re both here, let’s get the patient treated first!”

”Excuse me, seniors, may I interject a moment?” Lin Tianyou said, ”I have seen the scans of the patient’s head, and some of the congestion has already compressed the nerves. Ordinary methods of clearing congestion may not work, so this surgery might be a bit tricky.”

”What?” Hearing this, Gu Xianping suddenly looked stunned, his facial muscles twitching.

Chen Weimin and Zhou Bufan exchanged a glance, then both turned to look at Lin Tianyou.

”Do you think we didn’t review the scans before coming?” Chen Weimin was the first to retort angrily, ”How come I didn’t see any part with congestion pressing on it?”
