Urban Martial Saint

Xu Changzhi looked at the two, his voice trembling as he said, ”Really... really was the hematoma compressing the nerve?”

Chen Weimin and Zhou Bufan exchanged glances and said in a low voice, ”The films we... we reviewed didn’t show this. But after we’d begun the surgery, we found that there indeed was a hematoma compressing the nerve. The methods we used before couldn’t clear these hematomas at all. And now that the surgery has started, the situation... the situation has become even more dangerous...”

On the verge of collapse, Xu Changzhi couldn’t hold back his anger anymore and shouted, ”What the hell are you two good for? You’ve been brain experts for so many years and you can’t even detect this condition? Doctor Lin already said it was a hematoma compressing the nerve, why didn’t you listen to him? Now it has come to this, what do you expect me to do?”

Chen Weimin and Zhou Bufan hung their heads, both holding high positions. But facing Xu Changzhi, they didn’t dare let out a peep. The most critical issue was that this operation indeed involved a mistake. If only they had listened to Lin Tianyou earlier and reviewed the films more thoroughly, it wouldn’t have come to this!

”So... what can we do now?” Lin Guoqiang was pacing frantically, turning to Ye Qing and saying, ”Mr. Ye, your... your friend, can he help us?”

Ye Qing angrily said, ”How can he help? What a mess you’ve made, how can it be cleaned up?”

Lin Guoqiang was also filled with regret, recalling what he had said to Lin Tianyou earlier, his face flushed with nowhere to hide his embarrassment.

At that moment, Gu Xianping gradually came to, and the first words out of his mouth as he opened his eyes were a loud cry, ”My child...”

After he spoke, he struggled to get up and started moving towards the operating room. It was a moment when no one could stop him; this might be their last goodbye.

Just as Gu Xianping was about to enter the operating room, a voice suddenly called out from a distance, ”Don’t let him in!”

Everyone turned to look, only to see Lin Tianyou in a white coat, rushing over.

Ye Qing hurriedly held Gu Xianping back, and everyone turned to Lin Tianyou. Seeing him like this, they were all stunned. What was he about to do? Could he still be thinking of entering the operation room? But now Gu Yaqing was hanging onto life by a thread, what miracle could occur from his intervention? The key issue was, Gu Yaqing might die on the operating table, and if she were to die while he was operating, wouldn’t he bear the brunt of the blame?

Everyone was puzzled by Lin Tianyou’s intentions, but he still changed his clothes and entered the operating room resolutely.

Ye Qing quickly closed the door to the operation room and said, ”Teacher Gu, don’t worry, don’t worry. Doctor Lin is still in there, Doctor Lin is still in there, he must have a way!”

Gu Xianping was already crying without making a sound, and everyone around had grim expressions. Although Ye Qing was attempting to comfort Gu Xianping, everyone knew very well that even with Lin Tianyou going in, it was impossible for Gu Yaqing to survive.

”Let Teacher Gu go in and see...” Chen Weimin said softly from the side, ”Any later, and there will be no time left!”

”Yeah, if there’s anything that needs to be said, better say it quickly,” Zhou Bufan added, both of them had completely given up, convinced that Gu Yaqing could not be saved.

”The two of you shut the hell up!” Ye Qing shouted angrily, ”Bastards, if it wasn’t for your negligence, how could Yaqing have ended up like this? Now, Doctor Lin is risking his own reputation to make one last attempt. Instead of assisting him, you’re here spouting defeatist rubbish. Are you even human? Damn it, what worthless trash, get out of my sight. I’m telling you, if Yaqing really doesn’t make it this time, I goddamn won’t let you two off the hook either!”

Chen Weimin and Zhou Bufan were scolded to a stunned silence until a while later when Chen Weimin pointed at Ye Qing and angrily said, ”You... you dare speak to me like that?”

”You’d better shut up and stay quiet, or else it won’t just be talking!” Ye Qing raised his fist and shouted, ”I dare to punch you!”

”You... you hooligan!” Chen Weimin turned to Xu Changzhi and Huang Feiming, and demanded, ”What... what is this? Director Huang, explain this to me, what the hell is going on?”

”Enough, just keep it down,” Huang Feiming replied impatiently.

Chen Weimin was utterly dumbfounded, and then looked at Xu Changzhi who blatantly refused to even glance at them.

”Changzhi, what do you mean by this?” Zhou Bufan said gravely, ”We came here at your invitation to treat her. Although we haven’t been able to save her, we have made an effort. Your current attitude towards us is way too ungrateful!”

Xu Changzhi glared and said, ”Director Zhou, you’re here, and I thank you for that. If you can’t save her, I won’t blame you. But you need to be clear that the failure of this surgery was caused by the both of you being arrogant and self-conceited. If you had truly tried your best and she couldn’t be saved, I would still be grateful to you. But it is your blind arrogance that led to this outcome, why should I treat you with a good attitude?”

Caught off guard, Zhou Bufan was at a loss for words—after all, the blame did indeed lie with them and nobody else.

Chen Weimin and Zhou Bufan glanced around at the people present, none of whom offered them any friendly faces. The two felt extremely awkward and were unable to say anything more, standing silently outside the operating room, their earlier arrogance completely gone.

The light in the operating room was still on, and everyone anxiously awaited the outcome, although nearly everyone had given up hope. Chen Weimin and Zhou Bufan were experts in this field, and they had already declared Gu Yaqing’s death sentence—could there be any miracle after that?

As time ticked by, another half hour passed, and finally, the light in the operating room went out.

Everyone was stunned, unsure of what this meant, all looking toward Lin Guoqiang for answers. Lin Guoqiang himself did not know what was happening and anxiously stared at the doors of the operating room.

After a short while, the door to the operating room finally opened, and Lin Tianyou emerged, removing the mask from his face as he walked out.

”How did it go? What happened?” Ye Qing was the first to rush forward and ask.

Gu Xianping was right beside him; he was too weak to stand, just staring blankly at Lin Tianyou, praying in his heart for a miracle.

”Her life has been saved,” Lin Tianyou said, prompting everyone in the room to cheer in unison, even Chen Weimin and Zhou Bufan shared the same expression.

Everyone had thought that Gu Yaqing was as good as dead, and now that her life had been saved, it was nothing short of a resurrection.

Gu Xianping was first stunned, then he let out a long sigh of relief. He tried to stand up and just as he did, he stumbled and fell back to the ground.

Chen Jun hurried to help him up, but Gu Xianping was fine; joy was written across his face, as he said, ”It’s all right, it’s all right, Yaqing is all right.”

Lin Guoqiang approached Lin Tianyou and sincerely said, ”Divine Doctor Lin, you truly possess unparalleled skill!”

Lin Tianyou shook his head and replied, ”Wait until I finish speaking. Her life has been saved, but because her brain was exposed for too long and the surgery was delayed, I didn’t dare to completely remove the hematoma. Now, there is still some residual hematoma in her brain, but it’s no longer compressing the nerves. Under these circumstances, she can read and study without any problem, but it’s best to avoid intense physical activities. Given her current condition, she’ll probably need a year to recover from the wound. Once she has recovered, take her to Shenchuan City. Our hospital will be importing new equipment from the United States later this year that can remove the hematoma without needing to open the skull. For her case, she will likely need two courses of treatment!”

Ye Qing took a deep breath of relief—with the situation as it had been, simply being able to save Gu Yaqing’s life was already a stroke of incredible luck. And now Lin Tianyou had not only managed to do that but also restored her ability to read and study, which was a pleasant surprise. Most crucially, listening to Lin Tianyou, it didn’t seem difficult to completely cure Gu Yaqing in the future, which was the most exhilarating news.

”Doctor Lin, truly, thank you!” Ye Qing grasped Lin Tianyou’s hand, thanking him sincerely.

”Don’t mention it. I’ve said before that you must remember to take me to visit your elder when the time comes,” Lin Tianyou replied with a smile.

”No problem!” Ye Qing answered promptly. In fact, he was even considering entrusting the entire Acupoint Seeking Technique to Lin Tianyou. However, since meeting people like Old Wang Ba, Huangfu Ziyu, and Fire Butterfly, he realized that the Acupoint Seeking Technique was far from as simple as he had thought. Giving it to Lin Tianyou might lead to unforeseen consequences, and so he had to let go of that idea.

As for Lin Tianyou’s desire to visit renowned doctors in the mountains, there were indeed several old doctors in the hills who knew some folk remedies. When the time came, Ye Qing would take him to the mountains, and he guessed that Lin Tianyou would appreciate the folk remedies as well.

On this side, Gu Xianping also grabbed Lin Tianyou’s hand, nearly kneeling on the ground, but it was Lin Tianyou who pulled him back up. At this point, Lin Guoqiang and the others from the hospital completely looked up to Lin Tianyou like a Heavenly God, with no hint of the previous underestimation. As for Chen Weimin and Zhou Bufan, they wore expressions of utter embarrassment; they had been respected by everyone when they first arrived, but now they had thoroughly lost face here.

However, both men truly admired Lin Tianyou. They had been keenly aware of Gu Yaqing’s condition in the operating room and, despite dedicating several decades to neurology, found themselves helpless in her case. Yet Lin Tianyou had entered the operating room and brought Gu Yaqing back to life in just half an hour—such medical expertise demanded respect indeed!

Xu Changzhi and Huang Feiming were also greatly impressed, both exchanging phone numbers with Lin Tianyou. After all, in these times, when patients are many and doctors few, a true Divine Doctor is a rare find. To know someone like him was like having an extra life, and even powerful figures showed great respect for doctors!
