The Rebirth of the Fierce Little Cute Girl

Chapter 247: Chapter 246: Suspicion

Song Chi looked at the doctor in disbelief and asked, ”Doctor, what... what did you say? You said my wife is pregnant?”

”Yes, she is indeed pregnant. The fatigue and vomiting during this period are typical early pregnancy symptoms, there’s no need for you to worry.” The doctor, well aware of Song Chi’s identity, spoke respectfully.

It was only then that Song Chi reacted. Even someone as composed as he couldn’t hide his joy, and he said excitedly, ”I’m going to be a dad, I’m actually going to be a dad.”

Yiyi smiled and congratulated him, ”Congratulations, godfather, really congratulations to you both.”

She hadn’t expected Song Xiaoqing to be pregnant, given that her godmother was not young anymore and they hadn’t considered this possibility.

When Old Mrs. Song heard the news, she and Wei Li rushed to the hospital. However, there was not a trace of joy on the old lady’s face; her expression was somber as she looked at her son and said, ”Your wife is actually pregnant, and you, fool, are still happy here.”

Hearing the old lady’s words, the smile on Song Chi’s face gradually disappeared.

”Mom, what do you mean by that?”

”What do I mean? Don’t you know your own physical condition? You can’t possibly have your own child, yet your wife is pregnant now. You’re celebrating while there’s a whole meadow on your head.” Old Mrs. Song looked at her son with displeasure and, unable to contain her anger, got up to head to the ward.

Yiyi, upon hearing this, realized that Song Chi had health problems, which was why the couple hadn’t had children.

However, she knew something of Song Xiaoqing’s character and felt it impossible for her to have cuckolded Song Chi. Remembering she had given medicine pills to the Song couple before, she spoke up, ”Godfather, I think you should get your health checked. Perhaps you’re cured now. Surely you know your godmother’s character—if she were to cuckold you, it wouldn’t have taken until now.”

Song Chi’s originally anxious heart suddenly felt at ease upon hearing this.

Earlier, his mother’s words had stunned him, but fortunately Yiyi’s reminder brought him back to his senses. He then immediately called Doctor Kong, then looked at Old Mrs. Song and said, ”Xiaoqing is now pregnant with a Song Family child. I hope mother will be more lenient in the future and not say such heart-wounding words.”

”You... you’re truly stubborn, even now sheltering Song Xiaoqing.”

Song Chi, however, said firmly, ”I trust Xiaoqing, especially since Doctor Kong will be here soon. I’ll have him check me thoroughly, and you’ll be assured then.”

”Fine, then I’ll wait.”

Seeing her son’s stubbornness, Old Mrs. Song said no more. She decided to wait for Doctor Kong’s visit, yet she couldn’t help but glare at Yiyi who had spoken earlier.

Yiyi raised an eyebrow and ignored the old lady, instead, she went into the ward to visit Song Xiaoqing.

”Godmother, how are you feeling now?”

Song Xiaoqing still seemed stunned as Song Chi and Yiyi entered together. When Song Chi sat beside her, she couldn’t help but burst into tears, ”A Chi, I... I’m actually pregnant, is this real?”

Seeing his wife in tears, Song Chi hurried to dry her eyes and then chuckled, ”It’s true, isn’t this a good thing? Why are you crying?”

With tears in her eyes, Song Xiaoqing laughed, nodding vigorously, ”Yes, we should be happy. We had lost hope, and now we finally have a child—a child truly belonging to both of us.”

Song Chi’s eyes reddened, and he squeezed his wife’s hand, speaking emotionally, ”You’re right, this is an incredibly joyous occasion.”

But towards the end, he expressed some concern.

”However... given your age now, pregnancy must take a toll on your body, so who knows if you...”

But Song Chi’s words weren’t finished before Song Xiaoqing covered his mouth, her gaze resolute, ”I will definitely give birth to this child safely.”

Seeing the couple’s excitement, Yiyi joked, ”Congratulations, godfather and godmother.”

Upon hearing Yiyi, Song Xiaoqing turned to her and said with a full smile, ”Yiyi, you truly are our family’s lucky star. Look, since recognizing you, both your godfather and I actually have our own child now, it’s truly unbelievable.”

During their conversation, Doctor Kong arrived.

Song Xiaoqing was puzzled at seeing Doctor Kong.

However, Old Mrs. Song spoke harshly as she entered, ”Of course I summoned Doctor Kong, to properly examine Song Chi and see if what’s in your belly is indeed...”

”Mom...”

Song Chi didn’t expect the old lady to say such words in front of his wife, yet it was too late to stop her. The words had been said, and surely his wife had guessed it all.

Doctor Kong, upon learning of Song Xiaoqing’s pregnancy, was equally shocked and full of doubt. Confident in his previous diagnosis, which concluded Song Chi couldn’t conceive anymore, even he now had doubts.

After hearing Old Mrs. Song’s unfinished words, Song Xiaoqing turned a pallid face toward the lady before shifting an accusative gaze to Song Chi.

”Do even you suspect me?”

Song Chi hastily replied, ”Xiaoqing, don’t misunderstand, I have no doubts at all.”

”No doubts? Why call Doctor Kong then?”

Seeing her emotionally agitated, Yiyi quickly intervened to soothe her, ”Godmother, you cannot be too emotional now, watch out for the baby in your belly.” She gently patted her back to calm her.

Only upon Yiyi’s reminder did Song Xiaoqing realize it and control her overwhelming anger, but her eyes remained full of disappointment. She lowered her head, refusing to look at Song Chi and the others.

Witnessing his wife’s demeanor, Song Chi felt increasingly flustered.

Doctor Kong, eager to examine Song Chi, said urgently, ”Mr. Song, let’s have a thorough check-up first, otherwise things will become more unclear.”

Old Mrs. Song shared this sentiment and urged, ”Hurry, Song Chi, follow Doctor Kong quickly.”

Yiyi gave Song Chi a reassuring glance, signaling him to proceed for now.

Seeing this, Song Chi felt a slight sense of relief.

Once everyone else left the room, Yiyi comforted, ”Godmother, you misunderstood godfather. He didn’t doubt you just now; it’s the old lady who believes none of his words, so he had no choice but to bring Doctor Kong in.”

”Really?”

”Of course it’s true, would I lie to you?”

Song Xiaoqing, gazing into Yiyi’s clear eyes, finally felt a bit better.
