The Rebirth of the Fierce Little Cute Girl

Chapter 241: Chapter 240: Unpleasantness

Song Xiaoqing saw Yiyi and Gu Tingyu coming over and quickly greeted them with a smile.

”Come on in.” As she spoke, she glanced at the two of them with an ambiguous look and said, ”I really didn’t expect you two to get together quietly. If I hadn’t happened to hear about it, I wouldn’t have known you were already dating.”

Upon hearing this, Yiyi quickly said, ”Godmother, actually, we haven’t been together for long.”

Seeing the young girl was embarrassed, Song Xiaoqing laughed and said, ”Alright, alright, I won’t tease you. I haven’t seen you for a long time, so we must have a good chat today.”

Then she looked at Gu Tingyu and said, ”Tingyu, why don’t you sit for a while? Your Uncle Song will be back soon, and you two can have a chat then.”

Sure enough, not long after the three of them talked, Song Chi came back.

Song Chi was quite happy to see Yiyi and Gu Tingyu. Since his goddaughter was acknowledged, they hadn’t visited often. It’s a rare occasion to see her, so naturally, he wanted to spend some quality time, especially now that his goddaughter and Gu Tingyu were together, which he was pleased to see happen.

”Xiaoqing, did you instruct the kitchen to make more of the dishes Yiyi and Tingyu like? Let’s invite Mother and the others over for lunch. It’s been a while since our family gathered.”

Hearing this, Song Xiaoqing smiled and said, ”Don’t worry. I’ve already arranged for it. I’ll go over to Mother’s side and let her know in a bit.”

”Good.”

Song Chi said with a smile, but then he asked, ”Did the kitchen make pickled cucumbers today? You really wanted some yesterday.”

”Rest assured, I already told the kitchen this morning.”

Song Xiaoqing didn’t know why these days she kept craving these things. Yesterday she wanted pickled cucumbers, the day before that, winter melon porridge; basically, she kept wanting odd foods during this period.

Upon hearing his wife’s words, Song Chi couldn’t help but laugh, ”As long as it’s arranged, if you want to eat, have the kitchen make it.”

After chatting with Yiyi for a while, Song Xiaoqing went to Old Mrs. Song to invite her for lunch.

Old Mrs. Song’s expression was indifferent upon hearing that Gu Tingyu and Mo Yiyi came together, but in the end, she nodded and said, ”Alright, since Song Chi is back, I’ll come over to eat, but Wei Li is resting today, so I’ll bring her along.”

Upon hearing this, Song Xiaoqing naturally didn’t say anything and nodded with a smile.

When it came time for lunch, Old Mrs. Song brought Song Weili over.

After the few of them sat down, they started eating slowly.

Song Chi remembered that his mother probably didn’t know about Yiyi and Tingyu’s relationship and introduced, ”Mom, Yiyi brought her boyfriend here for lunch today. They’ll come often in the future. If you have time, you can have a good chat with these young ones.”

Upon hearing this, Old Mrs. Song was initially stunned. Once she realized, she showed a surprised expression and said, ”Are these two together?”

Song Chi nodded with a smile and said, ”Yes, both young people are excellent. It’s only natural they would like each other. However, Yiyi is still in school, so everything should wait until she graduates.”

Song Weili, sitting beside, was in disbelief and blurted out, ”What... Gu Tingyu, you’re actually with Mo Yiyi? How could you do this?”

However, after saying this, she realized the situation was not right and immediately shut her mouth, yet her expression remained unsure and astonished.

She had always known that her good friend Shu Yunfang liked Gu Tingyu since childhood. But now that Gu Tingyu had a girlfriend, and it was Mo Yiyi, she couldn’t accept it.

Although Song Weili quickly stopped talking, everyone still heard her words. Song Xiaoqing gave her an unhappy look, but seeing her quietly bowing her head, she couldn’t say much.

Old Mrs. Song was also dissatisfied with Song Weili’s manner, but upon seeing Song Xiaoqing’s glance towards her, all her displeasure was directed towards her daughter-in-law.

She slapped her chopsticks down and said coldly, ”Xiaoqing, what’s with that look you gave? Weili was just startled and said those things. You’re her aunt, yet you fuss over a kid? Are you even acting like an elder?”

Seeing her mother-in-law scold her because of Song Weili again, Song Xiaoqing’s face turned unpleasant.

”Mom, I didn’t mean anything by it. I just glanced at Weili, that’s all, with no further intention. You’re overthinking it.”

But Old Mrs. Song didn’t believe a word of it.

”Overthinking, am I? I think you’re prejudiced against Weili; otherwise, you wouldn’t have acknowledged an outsider as a goddaughter and ignored Weili.”

Seeing the issue of the goddaughter being brought up again, Song Chi’s face immediately darkened.

”Mom, everyone is finally having a nice meal together. Why bring this up again? Besides, acknowledging her as a goddaughter was my idea. Why take it out on Xiaoqing?”

Seeing her son still siding with the daughter-in-law, Old Mrs. Song was trembling with rage.

”Fine, Song Chi, now you take her side in everything. You might as well not even want me as your mother.”

”Mom...”

Song Chi was at his wits’ end.

At this moment, Song Xiaoqing couldn’t hold back any longer and began to vomit. Since they started eating, the smell of fish and meat had made her stomach churn. She’d been holding it in until she finally couldn’t anymore.

Seeing his wife vomiting uncontrollably, Song Chi’s face filled with concern.

”Xiaoqing, what’s wrong with you?”

Yiyi also looked tense, walking to Song Xiaoqing’s side, gently rubbing her back. Unfortunately, she had only just begun learning traditional Chinese medicine and couldn’t take a pulse, so she couldn’t do much.

After vomiting for a while, Song Xiaoqing felt much better. She waved her hand and said, ”I’m fine. It must be because I ate too quickly just now, so my stomach is a bit upset.”

Old Mrs. Song, however, snorted coldly from the side, ”I think you just don’t want to eat with me.” Saying so, she stood up and looked at Song Weili, ”Weili, let’s go.”

Song Weili naturally followed closely behind Old Mrs. Song.

After the two left, Song Xiaoqing had a face full of a bitter smile.

”I really have no such intention. It seems that no matter what, Mother doesn’t believe me.”

Song Chi, at this point, didn’t want to consider his mother’s feelings anymore. He quickly looked at his wife and said, ”Should we go to the hospital and have it checked out?”

Song Weili quickly shook her head and said, ”Don’t worry, I’m really okay. I feel much better after throwing up. It must have been from eating too fast. Don’t let me spoil your meal; go ahead and eat.”

At this moment, none of them were in the mood to continue eating, so after a few bites, they got up and returned to the living room.

Though Song Chi was initially worried, seeing his wife now looking rosy-cheeked, he finally relaxed.

After sitting for a while longer, Yiyi and Gu Tingyu left.
