The Rebirth of the Fierce Little Cute Girl

Chapter 242: Chapter 241: Attending the Banquet

On the way back, Gu Tingyu held Yiyi’s little hand and comforted her, ”Yiyi, don’t be upset. Uncle Song and Aunt Song still like you a lot. As for Old Mrs. Song, she’s always been like that. After all, she raised Song Weili from a young age, so it’s normal for her to have some opinions about you. But we don’t need to mind her. Why don’t we go to Grandma’s place for a while? She really misses you and said it’s been a long time since she saw you.”

Hearing this, Yiyi couldn’t help but smile and said, ”Alright, let’s go to Grandma’s later. Since that grandma doesn’t like me, I still have our own grandma.”

Gu Tingyu burst out laughing at her words.

”Yes, our grandma likes you.”

The two of them chatted and laughed as they headed towards the Gu family’s grandparents.

Meanwhile, after Old Mrs. Song rested, Song Weili hurried over to the Shu family.

”Yunfang, I have to tell you, something amazing has happened. Guess what I found out today.”

Seeing Song Weili in such a fluster, Shu Yunfang couldn’t help but say, ”What’s wrong, Wei Li? You look so anxious.”

”Yunfang, I’m anxious for you. Today, I saw Mo Yiyi and Gu Tingyu having dinner at the Song house together, and... and they are now boyfriend and girlfriend.”

At the end, Song Weili couldn’t help but watch her friend’s reaction. Seeing that she wasn’t very surprised but a bit angry and reluctant, she couldn’t help but ask, ”Yunfang, did you know already?”

”Yes, I knew long ago.”

Shu Yunfang took a deep breath to suppress the anger in her heart.

Hearing this, Song Weili looked worriedly at her friend’s distressed face and said, ”What are you going to do? You’ve liked Gu Tingyu for so many years, and now that Mo Yiyi has beaten you to it.”

Shu Yunfang, upon hearing this, simply let out a cold laugh and said, ”Don’t worry, Mo Yiyi can never be with Brother Tingyu. Brother Tingyu can only be mine.”

Song Weili didn’t hold much hope and thought her friend was just unwilling to let go, so she advised, ”Yunfang, with your status, you can find anyone, and there’s no need to focus solely on Gu Tingyu.”

”Hmph... what do you know, Brother Tingyu is the best. Besides, even my grandmother supports me, Mo Yiyi is not a threat.” Thinking of Chen Meilian’s support, Shu Yunfang felt much more confident.

Song Weili was genuinely surprised to hear this.

”Does your grandmother also approve of you and Gu Tingyu? Then you really don’t have to worry.”

Having lived in Shangjing for many years, she naturally knew the power of the Ding family, a family with a history spanning over a thousand years. It had its deep foundation and strength. If Shu Yunfang’s grandmother was involved, the Gu family would have to seriously consider it.

Thinking of this, Song Weili suddenly felt she had worried for nothing.

With Shu Yunfang’s position, it wasn’t her turn to worry—she should instead worry about her own situation. After all, she couldn’t stay at the Song family forever; even the Song Chi couple already had a goddaughter. Her own situation was becoming more embarrassing. If not for Old Mrs. Song always standing by her side, she would feel awkward continuing to stay at the Song family.

Meanwhile, when Yiyi and Gu Tingyu arrived, Old Mrs. Gu was full of joy, ”Oh dear, Yiyi, have you two eaten? If not, come and have some food.”

Yiyi quickly responded with a smile, ”Grandma, we’ve already eaten.”

Gu Tingyu added, ”Yes, Grandma, don’t trouble yourself. We’ll just sit and chat for a bit. I have to work tomorrow, and Yiyi has school, so it’s rare for us to have time to visit and talk with you.”

Old Mrs. Gu, hearing this, finally sat down but still insisted, ”Since you’ve had lunch, you must stay for dinner before leaving.”

”Okay.”

Yiyi and Gu Tingyu smiled and nodded in agreement.

The afternoon passed with the three of them chatting and laughing. After dinner, Gu Tingyu saw Yiyi home, reluctantly waving goodbye.

The next day, Yiyi got up early for school. This week, the dorm was missing An Xueqing and Feng Yudan; the two had taken leave to join a film crew.

Tao Cuizhu looked at the two empty beds and couldn’t help but shake her head, eventually heading to the classroom with the others.

Yiyi didn’t think much of it; everyone has the right to choose. Since An Xueqing and Feng Yudan chose a different path, that’s their choice, and they must bear the consequences.

The first-year courses were still very demanding, with much to learn every day. After a week of classes, Yiyi felt a bit tired.

However, thinking of Old Mrs. Gu alone at home the previous weekend, Yiyi decided to visit her that Saturday.

Old Mrs. Gu didn’t expect Yiyi to visit, so she was very happy and sat her down, ”Yiyi, you came just in time. I was just thinking of looking for you.”

”Grandma, what did you want to see me for?”

Curious, Yiyi couldn’t help but ask.

”It’s like this, Old Mrs. Ding is having her birthday soon. I’ll take you to attend.”

Hearing this, Yiyi hesitated, ”Is it appropriate for me to go uninvited?”

”There’s nothing inappropriate, and others already know I have a granddaughter-in-law. They want to meet you. It’s a good opportunity for introductions, so next time you meet, you’ll know each other.”

Hearing this, Yiyi understood that Old Mrs. Gu wanted to introduce her officially, so she didn’t refuse and nodded, ”Okay, but when is it?”

”Don’t worry, it’s next Saturday. I’ll have Xiao Wang pick you up then.”

Xiao Wang is the Gu family grandparents’ driver, indicating the formality of this banquet.

Old Mrs. Gu, feeling pressed for time, suggested, ”Why don’t we go to the department store tomorrow to see if there’s a dress you can wear? There’s not enough time to get one made.”

Yiyi quickly waved her hand, ”Grandma, there’s no need to buy a dress. My mother made me two before, and I can surely wear them.”

These were dresses Ding Yuejun had made during her free time. She always thought they were too formal and never wore them, but this occasion seemed fitting.

Hearing this, Old Mrs. Gu didn’t mention buying a dress again, and they continued their happy chat.

Yiyi stayed until after dinner before heading home.

On the day of the birthday banquet, Yiyi started her preparations early. After putting on a bright yellow modified cheongsam, she felt like she was glowing.

Her skin was already fair, and wearing the bright yellow made her look even fairer.

Old Mrs. Gu, seeing her attire, nodded and praised, ”This dress looks amazing. You’ll definitely be the prettiest one today.” Saying this, she took Yiyi directly to the Ding family.
