Zenless Zone Zero: The Almighty Incubus of Sixth Street

”This countdown... could it be a bomb?!”

Belle’s expression turned pale.

”Sigh... Classic move... Let me take a look.”

Seeing this, Wise immediately rushed over to the computer, his fingers flying across the keyboard.

At the same time, Evelyn sounded anxious.

”Can you get in touch with Astra?”

”...No, it looks like the normal communication link has been cut off.”

Wise shook his head. Meanwhile, on the screen displaying the stage footage, Fugue’s thugs were making their way toward the stage.

”We couldn’t stop them... Damn it! How many people did they send to sabotage this show...?”

Evelyn gritted her teeth, while Wise quickly made a decision.

”Belle, I’ll leave this suspicious countdown to you and Fairy. Evelyn and I will head over to Astra first.”

”Yes, no problem!”

After Belle agreed, Wise and Evelyn hurried toward the stage. He had complete confidence in his younger sister’s abilities.

Besides, Fairy would be there to assist remotely. She had experience defusing bombs before, so there shouldn’t be any problems this time.

Meanwhile, on stage...

During the intermission, all the lights went out, leaving Astra Yao alone in the darkness as she anxiously tried to contact everyone.

”Huff... huff... Director? Backstage? Control room?... Eve? Can you hear me? A malfunction? This is bad. The next song is about to start. Ahhh, wearing a 40-meter-long gown doesn’t exactly make it easy to dance...”

Astra frowned slightly as she considered her options, but after a brief moment, she made up her mind.

”I’ve got no other option!”

The faint rustle of clothes echoed through the darkness, and just a second before the lights came back on, her quick outfit change was complete.

”Luckily, I hid my outfit on the stage ahead of time. Otherwise, the next song would’ve been a disaster. The style just doesn’t match that gown at all.”

Astra had barely finished speaking when the sharp whistle of several bullets reached her ears.

”Hm? What’s that sound? Bullets? This song wasn’t supposed to have bullet sound effects. But wow, that’s so cool! Why didn’t I think of this before?”

Then she noticed a group of unfamiliar men rushing onto the stage.

”Huh? Why are these weird old guys rushing onto the stage? Ugh, my comms got cut off too. This is bad.”

Even the most innocent and adorable young lady could tell something was wrong after seeing what was happening, but Astra wasn’t too worried.

”Eve! She must be on her way right now. I just need to hold out until she gets here. A few troublemaking old guys aren’t enough to cancel my show. Hm? Wait a minute... the tempo of this song is fast... What if I incorporate the fighting into the choreography...?”

Astra felt like she’d just come up with a brilliant idea, and a relaxed, delighted smile spread across her face.

”Hehe, perfect timing! This song’s choreography is all yours now!”

That being said, even though Astra wasn’t a weak woman, dealing with so many thugs at once was still difficult.

On top of that, they constantly hurled hurtful insults at her, trying to shake her resolve. After dodging several waves of attacks, Astra’s breathing grew heavier.

’This is just too much... I don’t know how much longer I can keep this up... Do they really hate me that much? So many people actually hate me? Those words... They really hurt. It’s impossible to stay completely unfazed.’

”Miss Yao!”

”Astra!”

”We’re too late!” ×2

As the two shouted, Wise carried Evelyn onto the stage. She quickly slipped out of his arms, and together they rushed to Astra’s side.

As for how that happened, it goes back to a few minutes earlier.

>

”No, we’re going to miss it! We have to hurry!”

Evelyn sounded anxious, but they were still some distance from the stage, and it would take time to get there.

”In that case, Evelyn, please don’t resist.”

”What...?”

Before Evelyn could finish asking, she felt a strong arm scoop her up.

The sudden feeling of weightlessness made her instinctively grab Wise’s shoulder as the scenery around them blurred, rushing past at an astonishing speed.

Although she felt a little embarrassed at being carried like this for the first time, it was nothing compared to Astra’s safety.

Back in the present, seeing the two arrive just in time, Astra instantly felt relieved, and her determination to keep pursuing her dreams grew even stronger.

Little by little, with the purest voice, she would captivate the entire world.

The stage slowly rose, and the performance reached its climax. Since the stage effects were already prepared and the extras had been hired by someone else, there was no reason to let them go to waste.

To make the performance even more spectacular while keeping things fair, considering the large number of thugs the enemy had brought, Wise decided to have the Twin Sisters perform again after a long absence.

They weren’t worried about exposing anything. To everyone else, it would simply look like part of the show.

”By the way, Odile and Odette, remember to hold back. Focus on the performance, and don’t scare the audience.”

”Yes, Master!”

”We understand.”

The twin sisters wore gorgeous ballet outfits, one black and one white, both featuring a distinctive ether-inspired style that immediately caught Astra’s attention.

She was already thinking that once the performance was over, she’d definitely order a set in the same style.

With the help of Wise and the twin sisters, the battle quickly became one-sided, while Evelyn explained the situation to Astra.

Fugue’s men had breached their security measures. It didn’t seem like they were simply there to cause trouble. There had to be another plan behind all of this.

Just to be safe, Evelyn wanted to end the performance and take Astra away, but Astra was still worried about the audience’s safety.

At that moment, Wise’s expression suddenly changed. He looked at the two beside him and spoke in a serious tone.

”Evelyn, Astra! Belle just told me some bad news. That countdown timer really is connected to an explosive device!”

”An explosive device...”

Hearing that, Astra gasped in shock, while Evelyn was equally stunned.

”Has Fugue gone mad? Starloop is currently cruising. If it explodes, their own people will die too.”

Besides, an incident on this scale would definitely trigger a full investigation by Public Security, and even Fugue would suffer serious consequences.

”Could it be... Hmm! Fugue is just cannon fodder... The real culprit is someone else!”
