Zenless Zone Zero: The Almighty Incubus of Sixth Street

”Oh? Has Miyabi finally brought that boy named Wise back?”

”Yes, Master. She’s currently in her room with him. Shall I call them?”

”Hmm, I’ll leave it to you,” Souichirou said as he made his way to the reception room.

After receiving permission, the female housekeeper headed toward Miyabi’s room.

A short while later, however, she returned alone, her expression somewhat complicated.

”Hm? Where are they?”

Souichirou looked at her in confusion. After composing herself, the housekeeper tactfully explained the unusual situation.

Upon hearing her report, Souichirou immediately fell silent.

After a long pause, he finally seemed to accept it.

”Alright, don’t disturb them. Let’s leave it at that for today. I happen to be free tomorrow morning, so we can talk then.”

With those words, Souichirou left.

In truth, the housekeeper hadn’t even knocked on Miyabi’s door. Her exceptionally keen hearing had already picked up enough to understand what was happening.

Sometimes, having excellent hearing wasn’t a blessing. It could also be incredibly embarrassing.

The next morning, Wise sat on the sofa in the reception room with Miyabi quietly by his side. Opposite them sat Souichirou.

Looking at his future father-in-law’s stern expression, Wise felt an immense sense of pressure unlike anything he’d experienced since facing Lycaon.

Yet even compared to Lycaon, the pressure Souichirou exuded was far greater.

It had nothing to do with strength. It was simply because he was Miyabi’s biological father.

”I remember your name is Wise, right? May I call you that?”

”You can call me whatever you want, Mr. Souichirou,” Wise replied politely.

”Hmm. Miyabi told me that, besides her, you have good relationships with many other beautiful girls. Is that true?”

As expected... that’s the first thing he asked.

Although Wise had prepared himself, admitting it face-to-face was still no easy task.

”Yes... But it’s not just ’good relationships.’ To be more precise... they’re all just as important to me as Miyabi is.”

”Haha, you’re very honest. But don’t worry, there’s no need to be nervous. Since Miyabi has already made her decision and accepted you, then as her father, I can’t really object.”

After all, aside from her strength, Miyabi’s personality was just as unwavering. Once she decided on something, she would never change her mind easily.

Souichirou continued speaking, gradually becoming lost in his own thoughts.

Sitting beside Wise, Miyabi frowned slightly, then gently interrupted him.

”Father...”

”Oh, my apologies, my apologies. When it comes to my daughter, I sometimes get a little carried away.”

Souichirou cleared his throat a few times before returning to a more serious expression.

”Back to the main topic. What I want to say is simple. Since Miyabi has accepted everything about you, I naturally won’t interfere. However, I do want the two of you to formally confirm your relationship.”

”What do you mean?”

A bad premonition immediately surfaced in Wise’s mind, and Souichirou’s next words confirmed it.

”The laws of New Eridu only recognize monogamous marriages for its residents. I won’t interfere with Miyabi’s choice, but as her father, I have to fight for something on my daughter’s behalf.”

His tone remained calm yet carried an unquestionable authority.

”Wise, if you agree, then from this day forward, the Hoshimi Family will become your strongest backing. You’ll be free to use the Hoshimi Family’s influence and strength whenever necessary.”

It was certainly a tempting offer.

An ordinary person might have accepted immediately under such pressure and temptation. But Wise wasn’t just anyone.

”I’m very sorry, Mr. Souichirou, but I can’t agree.”

”Good. Then you two will go to Public Security... Wait. What did you say?”

Souichirou looked at Wise with undisguised surprise.

Wise then calmly reached over and took Miyabi’s hand. He could clearly feel the turmoil in her emotions. She hadn’t expected him to refuse either.

”May I ask why?”

Souichirou first glanced at Miyabi. Seeing no sign that she intended to object, he returned his gaze to Wise.

”I’ve already said it. Miyabi and the others are all equally important to me.”

As he spoke, Wise gently tightened his grip on Miyabi’s hand before turning to look at her.

She met his gaze, the surprise in her eyes gradually fading as she regained her composure.

”Do you know what that choice means?”

”Will it cause trouble for Miyabi or the Hoshimi Family?” Wise instinctively asked in return.

Souichirou smiled and shook his head.

”If you’re talking about gossip, we don’t care about something like that.”

”Then what do you mean?” Wise asked with a serious expression.

”Wise, you’re a good person. If it weren’t for my daughter, we might’ve become good friends... or even... uh... never mind. The important thing is that I approve of you.”

Noticing Miyabi’s gaze, Souichirou awkwardly corrected himself before he could finish.

Wise couldn’t help suspecting that he had originally intended to say ”sworn brothers.”

’I’ve gained his approval just like that? Isn’t this a little too easy?’

In reality, it wasn’t, and Souichirou quickly explained why.

”Miyabi told me about your strength. She said you’ve already reached the level of a Void Hunter. I have to admit that it truly surprised me.”

Ordinary people adapted to the rules. But once someone’s strength reached a certain level, it was the rules that adapted to them.

If someone with Wise’s strength truly wanted to marry multiple wives in the future, would Public Security really dare oppose him?

”Thank you for your approval, Mr. Souichirou... no, Father-in-law!”

It was the first time Wise had sincerely addressed someone by that title. Previously, he had only called Zhu Yuan’s parents ”Mr.” and ”Mrs.”

Souichirou was clearly delighted.

Now that the serious discussion was over, the warm, easygoing smile returned to his face.

”Oh, by the way, I heard you’re also a famous Proxy. Is your work very busy? If you have the time, try to spend more of it with my daughter. This child is actually very afraid of being alone. She’s happiest whenever you’re by her side.”

”Yes, I will, Father-in-law.”

Wise nodded in agreement.

”That’s good. Oh, and would you like to see what Miyabi looked like when she was little? I’ve kept plenty of photos. Want to take a look?”

”Father...!”

Realizing where the conversation was heading, Miyabi immediately grabbed Wise’s hand and began pulling him away.

Souichirou tried to stop them, but Miyabi refused to listen.

Left with no choice, he could only give up. Still, just before they disappeared from sight, he couldn’t resist calling out one final reminder.

”Remember to take good care of Miyabi! And when you have children, make sure she gets plenty of rest. If the two of you are ever too busy after they’re born, you can always leave them with me!”

”Father!!!”

Finally, under Miyabi’s flustered yet slightly angry glare, Souichirou wisely shut his mouth.

Even so, he kept winking at Wise with a knowing grin, making his intentions perfectly clear.
