Zenless Zone Zero: The Almighty Incubus of Sixth Street

The sudden turn of events startled the fangirl standing before them, while Miyabi, still in her ’machine-like’ state, made no move to draw her sword upon sensing a familiar aura.

Evidently, whether conscious or unconscious, Miyabi would never resist Wise’s actions.

After all, deep within her subconscious, she had already accepted him as the man she loved. As his future wife, she naturally allowed him to hug or kiss her as he pleased.

The fangirl, however, knew nothing about that. After witnessing Wise’s audacious display, she immediately pointed at him and demanded, ”Who are you? Why are you suddenly hugging her? Wait... Miyabi didn’t resist?! Why?!”

As the realization slowly sank in, countless impossible possibilities flashed through her mind.

Wise’s next words confirmed the one she feared most.

”Because I’m her fiancé.”

”Fiancé.”

Miyabi softly repeated the final word of his sentence, completely confirming it in the fangirl’s eyes.

”H-How could this be?!”

”It is.”

Wise delivered the final blow, leaving the girl’s eyes glistening with tears.

”Woo... my heart shattered so suddenly... Miyabi... if you already had someone, why did you say those things to me back then? Why did you smile at me? Well... I guess you weren’t actually smiling at me, but... why?”

”What a cold and heartless woman... But that’s also your charm. Only such a cold blade can cut through the Hollow... just as it cut through my heart...”

”Cut through.”

Miyabi quietly echoed the phrase.

The heartbroken fangirl eventually walked away in sorrow. Seeing this, Wise quickly led Miyabi away, as their conversation had already begun attracting the attention of nearby pedestrians.

That was a little troublesome. Their exchange had likely been overheard, and it probably wouldn’t be long before word spread, though, in this case, it wouldn’t exactly be a rumor.

Fortunately, no one dared stop them, and they soon arrived at a deserted alley.

Miyabi still wore the same absent expression, showing no signs of regaining full awareness.

Wise wondered whether he should try waking her up. Even as the thought crossed his mind, his hand had already drifted toward Miyabi’s most sensitive spot—her ear.

The moment his fingers brushed against the soft, fluffy fox ear, Miyabi’s body visibly trembled.

But that was all.

Since it seemed to have some effect, Wise decided to try another approach. Wrapping an arm around her shoulders, he leaned closer and gently blew warm air against her ear.

As his breath brushed against it, Miyabi’s body stiffened slightly, and her knees, wrapped in black stockings, instinctively pressed together.

Even so, that was the extent of her reaction. She remained in her ’machine-like’ state, her eyes still vacant.

”Hello? Is Miss Miyabi home?” Wise asked, gently tapping her forehead with his finger.

”Is home.”

’Looks like she’s still not fully awake. No choice. I’ll take her back to the video store first... or should I try another kind of stimulation?’

As the thought crossed his mind, his free hand unconsciously settled on Miyabi’s waist, almost beginning to slide lower. However, he ultimately stopped himself.

How could he be so indecent in broad daylight?

Instead, Wise leaned close to her ear once more and whispered, ”If you wake up now, I’ll go with you to see your father.”

”If possible, please accompany me to the Public Security first.”

”Huh? Miyabi, you’re awake? Since when?” Wise asked in surprise.

”Awake? What do you mean? I was attempting a new training method. During it, I temporarily lost consciousness. When I came to, I found you caressing my body.”

’Wasn’t that just now?’

Wise thought to himself, but Miyabi simply looked back at him with a perfectly serious expression.

”Wise, you just promised you’d go see my father...”

”I know. Don’t look at me like that... I’ll keep my promise.”

The anxious look in Miyabi’s eyes, laced with a quiet plea, made it impossible for Wise to refuse.

Satisfied with his answer, Miyabi continued, ”Good. Wise, do you have your citizen ID card?”

”I do...”

”Then let’s go to the Public Security now.”

Taking Wise’s hand, Miyabi immediately started walking toward the nearest Public Security branch.

’Wait a second... absolutely not! If the others find out what she’s planning, they’ll tear me to shreds!’ Wise thought, forcing an awkward smile.

”Um... Miyabi, shouldn’t we discuss this with your family first?” he suggested hesitantly.

”Are you referring to my father? Please rest assured. I understand his personality. He will agree.”

Wise’s uncertain tone contrasted sharply with Miyabi’s unwavering confidence.

Under normal circumstances, even if he accompanied Miyabi to the Public Security to register their marriage, the worst that could happen would be quietly altering the records afterward.

The problem was that, if he remembered correctly, Zhu Yuan should be on duty there today.

And even if she wasn’t...

Qingyi certainly was.

Don’t let Qingyi’s calm and composed appearance fool you. Beneath that mature exterior hid an incredibly mischievous young woman.

”Wait... speaking of which, Miyabi, do you remember anything after you lost consciousness?”

Wise quickly changed the subject, and the tactic worked.

Miyabi shook her head.

”I don’t. This has happened before. First it was Zhu Yuan, then Yanagi. They both said similar things with worried expressions, and now you’re doing the same. Please don’t worry. I am confident in my ability to protect both myself and those I wish to protect under any circumstances. That is enough.”

As soon as she finished speaking, she returned to the subject at hand.

”So, when are we going to the Public Security?”

”Uh...”

”Do you not want to go with me?”

A trace of disappointment appeared on Miyabi’s face. She lowered her head slightly, and her fox ears, usually standing proudly upright, slowly drooped.

The sight of the usually dignified Void Hunter looking so dejected tugged at Wise’s heart.

Without another word, Wise stepped forward.

In the quiet alley, Wise placed one hand against the wall behind Miyabi, gently trapping her between himself and the brick wall.

Perhaps only Wise could kabedon the renowned Void Hunter.

”Wise...? Mmm...”

Before Miyabi could finish speaking, Wise captured her lips with his own.

Her fox ears shot straight up in surprise.

When the kiss finally ended, she remained close to him, looking just a little reluctant for it to be over.

”Kissing outside... this is my first time.”

Strictly speaking, they weren’t exactly in public, as almost no one ever passed through this alley.

Still, Miyabi’s mood had improved considerably, and for Wise, that alone made it worthwhile.
