Super Rich by Doing as You Please

She represented Xu Yun, cut the ribbon, and participated in the launch ceremony.

Not far from the venue.

Xu Yun leaned against a tree, quietly watching the event on stage.

He had come after all, to witness the scholarship fund named after him officially take root at his alma mater, Jiang University.

It wasn’t because Xu Yun was some great man hoping for the thanks and gratitude of the students he sponsored.

He just wanted to leave a small mark of his own on his alma mater.

”You punk, didn’t you say you were busy and couldn’t make it?”

Wu Jinyan spotted him by chance and walked over, chiding him with a smile, ”You came yourself but still made Jingya go on stage for you.”

”Professor, I just finished up my business and rushed over.”

Xu Yun grinned and teased, ”But you have to admit, my junior looked really good on stage in that outfit today.”

”Of course she looked good.”

Wu Jinyan chuckled. ”Ever since you asked her to fill in for you yesterday, she’s been trying to figure out what to wear. She was up until midnight fussing over it.

Then she got up bright and early this morning to do her makeup. She was so particular about everything.”

”Hahaha...”

Xu Yun couldn’t help but laugh. ”She really went through a lot of trouble. I’ll have to treat her to dinner when I have the time.”

”By the way, Xiaoxu.”

Wu Jinyan suddenly asked with a serious expression, ”Jingya said you plan on donating 1.5 billion to the university this time?”

”Yeah.”

”Why are you donating so much?”

Xu Yun said casually, ”I made money, so I can be reckless!”

”...”

Wu Jinyan shot him a glare. ”I’m being serious with you. Behave.”

”Honestly? I just want to show off in front of everyone!”

Xu Yun replied, ”Returning home rich without showing it is like wearing silk brocade in the dark. I just want everyone to know that Wuda University didn’t just produce a Leibus; there’s also a guy named Xu Yun.”

”That’s how young people think...”

Wu Jinyan advised, ”It’s not a good mindset to have.”

”But Professor, you forgot~”

Xu Yun reminded him with a smile, ”I *am* a young person!”

”...” Wu Jinyan was speechless for a moment.

’That’s right, how could I have forgotten?’

’He’s not even thirty yet. This is supposed to be the time for him to be unrestrained and youthful. Why should he be so rational?’

’Perhaps his success made me subconsciously think he should be a mature and steady social entrepreneur!’

As the event progressed, it soon came time for the donation segment.

Following the host’s introductions, a stream of distinguished alumni went on stage, gave speeches, and then announced their donations.

The smallest donation was 50 million, and the largest was 500 million. Most were between 100 and 200 million.

Finally, when it was Xu Yun’s turn, the host looked at the script in her hand and froze for a second.

Because this person named Xu Yun had no title, only a name.

’How was she supposed to introduce him?’

She assumed it was a minor mistake by the staff and could only brace herself and announce, ”Next, let’s welcome our distinguished alumnus, Xu Yun, to the stage to speak.”

After hearing the host’s words, everyone in the audience frowned.

’Why just a name, with no other information in the introduction?’

Ou Jingya was already prepared. She stood up again, took the microphone from the host’s hand, and walked to the center of the stage.

She said with a smile, ”Hello, everyone. My name is Ou Jingya, and I’m a teacher here at our university.

President Xu had some last-minute business and couldn’t be here today, so I will be representing him at this event...”

After rattling off a bunch of official-sounding pleasantries, Ou Jingya took a deep breath and delivered the line she had practiced in her head over and over again.

”Today, on behalf of President Xu, I will be donating 1.5 billion yuan to our alma mater in his personal name!”

Ou Jingya’s words were like a sudden clap of thunder, stunning everyone in the audience.

Whether it was the distinguished entrepreneurs or the various leaders sitting in the front rows, everyone was floored by the 1.5 billion figure.

1.5 billion!

This was the largest personal donation in the history of Jiang University’s distinguished alumni.

It even surpassed the 1 billion previously donated by Leibus.

Leibus could donate 1 billion because he had a Fortune 500 company and a net worth in the hundreds of billions.

But who was this Xu Yun?

How could he possibly donate so much money?

In that moment, everyone’s curiosity about his identity was piqued to the absolute maximum.

But recalling the host’s earlier introduction, there was nothing but a name, no other information.

So mysterious.

But everyone silently committed the name of this man, ”Xu Yun,” to memory.

On stage, Ou Jingya watched the audience’s reaction, feeling incredibly satisfied and thrilled.

This honor felt as if it were her own.

’It doesn’t matter if you’re a top leader or a distinguished entrepreneur. At this moment, none of you are a match for my Xu Yun.’

Unconsciously, she had already started using ”my Xu Yun” in her thoughts.

The university administration had also not anticipated this scene at all.

If this donation from the alumnus named Xu Yun was real and valid, then his name and photo would be forever displayed on the university’s wall of distinguished alumni.

A university leader turned directly to the city official next to him and asked curiously, ”Sir, can you give me a little inside info? What exactly does this Xu Yun do?”

”I’m not sure either, but what is certain is that he’s very rich.”

The city official teased, ”So you don’t have to worry about him making empty promises and not being able to pay up.”

”Sir, that’s not what I meant.”

The university leader said, embarrassed, ”I just didn’t know our university had produced such an incredible entrepreneur.”

”Some people prefer to keep a low profile. When they don’t want to be known, ordinary people won’t see them.”

The city official said with a smile, ”You think he really had something important come up that kept him from an event like this? It’s just an excuse to not show his face, so don’t bother asking me.”

”...” The university leader was silent.

”In any case, our university truly is full of talented people.”

The city official couldn’t help but exclaim, ”First Leibus, now Xu Yun. In the business world, they are both the cream of the crop, exceedingly rare talents.”

Under the tree not far away.

Wu Jinyan chuckled helplessly. ”Jingya stole your moment in the spotlight today.”

”Professor, I don’t like the sound of that. What’s this about ’stealing’? I think my junior did a great job. She’s definitely going to have a bright future.”

”Brighter than yours?”

”Professor, don’t compare her to me.”

Xu Yun spread his hands and said with feigned confidence, ”Because ordinary people can’t compare to me. Even I think I’m too outstanding.”

”Hahaha...”

Wu Jinyan was amused and said, ”You punk, you’re just as thick-skinned as you were back in school.”

”But Professor, just like my mom, you’re getting white hairs.”

”Everyone gets old. You’ve grown up, so it’s normal for us to have white hair.”

Wu Jinyan said, ”But I believe that whether it’s me or your mom, as long as we see the people we care about doing well, becoming outstanding, and contributing to society, we’ll be happy and proud.”

”Professor, why are you suddenly getting all profound and sentimental on me?”

Xu Yun said awkwardly, ”I was just trying to say, I know a shampoo that worked really well for my mom, and I wanted to recommend it to you.”

”???” Wu Jinyan was baffled.

”Alright, Professor, stop spacing out. The event’s over.”

Xu Yun urged with a smile, ”I’m a little hungry. Could you treat me to a meal at the cafeteria? I don’t have a meal card.”

”Let’s go.”

Wu Jinyan smiled. ”Whatever you want to eat today, it’s on my card.”

”You’re the best, Professor. Just like my mom.”

Wu Jinyan: ”...”

The speaker may be heedless, but the listener is not.

’Sigh, if my daughter had ended up with him back then, he really would have had to call me ’Dad’.’

’But alas, it wasn’t fated to be. Their relationship could only be that of a teacher and student.’

The morning’s anniversary celebration ended, and for lunch, the university naturally arranged a meal and invited everyone to dine together.

To reflect a style of diligence and frugality, comply with the ”Eight-point Regulation,” and reminisce about their student days, the large group of tycoons, all with net worths over a hundred million, decided against special treatment and chose to eat directly in the university’s main cafeteria.

And it just so happened that Xu Yun and Wu Jinyan were also there.

The two groups met unexpectedly, running into each other by chance!
