Super Rich by Doing as You Please

Xu Yun had been looking for a place to call Chen Xin and ask about her livestream.

But Jian Shiwai interrupted him, so he gave up on the idea.

He thought it over. Since she hadn’t brought it up herself, it probably meant she didn’t want him to know.

In that case, he shouldn’t ask. He would just pretend he didn’t know.

So he decided to meet Jian Shiwai first, grab a bite to eat, and then head home to scroll through his phone. Later that night, he would secretly tune into Chen Xin’s livestream to see what she was like on camera.

The place Jian Shiwai chose had a rather chic, sophisticated ambiance.

It seemed to be the kind of place professional women favored, probably because it reflected their own refined taste.

”What made you miss me all of a sudden?”

Xu Yun entered the private room and asked teasingly, ”Shouldn’t you be busy, Chairman Jian? It’s the end of the year.”

”I’m never too busy to see you.”

Jian Shiwai stepped forward to help him with his coat, hanging it on a nearby rack. ”Are you going home tonight?” she asked.

”That depends on your skills.”

”Then I’ll have to pull out all the stops to keep you here.”

Jian Shiwai smiled. ”Actually, there was something I wanted to ask you, which is why I called you here today.”

”What is it?”

”Another ten billion was wired into your account last night.”

Jian Shiwai continued, ”It came from fifty different overseas funds. Were you aware of this?”

”I know.”

Xu Yun asked, confused, ”Why? Is there a problem?”

”No, I just wanted to confirm it with you.”

Jian Shiwai reminded him, ”A transfer of this magnitude will definitely attract the attention of the regulatory authorities. It’s likely to be audited.”

”Let them check. Don’t worry about it.”

Xu Yun chuckled. ”There’s nothing wrong with my money. It’s all legitimate investment income.”

”Okay.”

Jian Shiwai nodded and smiled. ”There’s something else, too. I was promoted today. I’m the Chairman now.”

”I thought that was supposed to happen after the New Year. You got promoted already?”

Xu Yun said, surprised, ”President Dai certainly works fast.”

”I knew it was you.”

Jian Shiwai was instantly touched. ”Xu Yun, thank you for being so good to me. You deposited another ten billion just for my sake.”

”Wait a second???”

Xu Yun paused, confused. ”Your promotion? Wasn’t that already settled last time at the court? What does it have to do with the extra ten billion?”

”Because I wasn’t promoted to Branch Manager. I was promoted to Regional Chairman.”

Jian Shiwai explained, ”It means I skipped three ranks. I’m now one of the five most powerful people at Construction Bank in Jiangcheng—in the entire province, even.”

”That impressive?”

”Yep.”

Jian Shiwai said, ”If it weren’t for you, I doubt I could have ever reached this position in my entire life.”

”Let me be clear, I didn’t arrange this. It had nothing to do with me.”

Xu Yun thought for a moment. ”I’m guessing your President Dai saw how filthy rich I am and decided to do it on his own. He probably fast-tracked your promotion to suck up to me.”

Jian Shiwai was left speechless.

”Congratulations. I guess I can really call you Chairman Jian now.”

”Oh, stop teasing me.”

Jian Shiwai pouted. ”Even if I’m the chairman, I’m still just your little lover, someone you can’t be seen with in public.”

”Sounds like you’re complaining.”

”I’m not.”

Jian Shiwai walked over and sat on his lap. ”I know you’ve given me everything,” she said softly. ”Without you, I’d be nothing—just another clerk at the bank.”

”Heh, you’re a sharp one.”

Xu Yun gave her a playful slap on the behind and chuckled. ”At least you remember who dug the well. I’ll try to earn some more to deposit and make you the big boss of the Jiangcheng Branch.”

”That’s enough, that’s enough! Any higher and I wouldn’t be able to handle it.”

Jian Shiwai said happily, ”I’m very satisfied with my current position. Let me settle in and gain some experience for a few years first.”

”That’s true. If you stand out too much, you’ll become a target.”

”Exactly. We need to keep a low profile.”

With the serious talk out of the way, Jian Shiwai suddenly leaned in and whispered in Xu Yun’s ear, her breath sweet, ”Darling... how about you make another private deposit of a few hundred million for me tonight?”

Xu Yun chuckled. ”You’re putting me in a tough spot. I’ve had some major expenditures recently.”

”Oh, come on. As if I don’t know what you’re capable of.”

Jian Shiwai said shyly, ”If it comes to it... I’ll grant you that wish you had. I’ll wear my work uniform for you.”

”Really?”

”Really!”

”Well, in that case, I’ll do my best. There’s always a little something left if you squeeze hard enough.”

Xu Yun stood up with a grin. ”Let’s go. Time to head home and get to work. We have to celebrate your promotion and raise properly!”

”What about all this food? We’re not eating?”

”Nope.”

Xu Yun said suggestively, ”Right now, I’m just eager for you to handle my... deposit transaction.”

Jian Shiwai couldn’t help but laugh. ”Of course, President Xu.”

”My service quality is guaranteed to satisfy you. Remember to leave a five-star review, okay?”

Handling ”personal business” of this nature, of course, couldn’t be done out in public. It had to be done at home.

As Xu Yun sat in Jian Shiwai’s car, he noticed they weren’t heading in the direction of her apartment. ”We’re not going to your place?” he asked, confused.

”I moved. To a large, single-story apartment, over 300 square meters.”

Jian Shiwai explained with a smile, ”I’ve already rented out my old place. This way, it’ll be more comfortable for you when you come over.”

”You paid for it in full?”

”Of course not. I only made a 50% down payment. The rest is a loan from my own bank. The interest rate is low, so it’s a great deal.”

”Perfect. I get to see your new home, then.”

「Half an hour later.」

Xu Yun arrived at Jian Shiwai’s new home. It was in a new, high-end residential complex with nice surroundings. The layout was three elevators for every two units per floor, with each elevator opening directly into the apartment.

After accounting for the shared common area, the actual living space of the apartment was about 270 square meters.

It had three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, and a living room.

It also had two sizable walk-in closets and a large, partially-comped balcony. The view from it was excellent, with a beautiful cityscape at night.
