Super Rich by Doing as You Please

After waking up and buying her a thoughtful breakfast, Xu Yun practiced a set of the Eight Pieces of Brocade. He planned to make a quick trip home before heading back to Jiangcheng.

Seeing this, Gao Wenwen said worriedly, ”You were up all last night. Are you sure you’re okay to drive back to Jiangcheng?”

”You have no idea what I’m capable of.”

Xu Yun reached out and patted her on the butt. ”Get some rest. I’m leaving.”

”When will you be back next time?”

”Don’t know.”

Gao Wenwen was left speechless.

When Xu Yun got home, Zhang Sujuan caught him the moment he walked through the door.

”You didn’t come home all night. Where did you run off to?”

”I had a bit too much to drink while I was out for a late-night snack, so I crashed at a friend’s place.”

Hearing this, Zhang Sujuan asked with concern, ”Then are you okay to drive today?”

”I’m fine.”

Xu Yun said, ”Mom, I’m just going to pack my things and get ready to leave.”

”You think you still need to pack?”

Zhang Sujuan said, a bit exasperated, ”I already packed for you last night. Your bag is in your room.”

”Thanks, Mom.”

”Go get it. I’ll go get Chen Xin.”

Zhang Sujuan added, ”She said she wants to see you off, too.”

”Oh.”

A moment later, Xu Yun came out with a bag slung over his back and saw Chen Xin standing with his mom.

They followed Xu Yun to his car in the residential complex to see him off.

Zhang Sujuan said, ”Drive safe. Let me know you’ve arrived in Jiangcheng safely.”

”Okay, bye.”

Xu Yun said to Chen Xin, ”And you, remember to miss me, okay? If anyone gives you a hard time, call me.”

”Okay.”

Xu Yun hated goodbyes. They always felt so final, as if he were leaving for good.

He drove slowly out of the complex, watching in his rearview mirror as the two of them stood in place, smiling and waving goodbye.

One old, one young.

’It’s just like a mother and a wife, sending their son and husband off on a long journey.’

After Xu Yun’s car was completely out of sight, Zhang Sujuan turned to Chen Xin and asked with a smile, ”You like our Xu Yun, don’t you?”

”Yes, I do.”

This time, Chen Xin admitted it readily, but then added, ”But he doesn’t want to settle down yet. He hasn’t had his fun, and he yearns for the big wide world out there.”

”That’s alright.”

Zhang Sujuan said, ”When he’s had his fun, he’ll naturally know to come back, because this is his home.”

”Yes, I’ll wait for him with you, Auntie.”

No sooner had Xu Yun left than his uncle drove up, along with his aunt and their daughter.

The uncle’s family got out of the car. Seeing Zhang Sujuan and Chen Xin in the complex, he asked with a smile, ”Sujuan, what are you doing here?”

”Seeing someone off.”

His aunt asked curiously, ”Seeing who off?”

”My son.”

Zhang Sujuan said, ”He just drove back to Jiangcheng.”

”He drove off?”

Hearing this, the uncle said anxiously, ”Why’d he leave already? I came here specifically today to talk to him about Zhang Qian.”

He quickly pulled out his phone and called Xu Yun.

After three rings, the call connected.

”Hey, Xu Yun,”

his uncle asked, ”I just heard from your mom that you’re heading back to Jiangcheng?”

”Yeah, just getting on the highway now,”

Xu Yun replied, ”What’s up, Uncle?”

”It’s nothing major, I just wanted to tell you...”

Xu Yun cut him off. ”If it’s nothing major, Uncle, wait until I’m off the highway. It’s dangerous to talk on the phone while driving. I’m hanging up now.”

”Hello? Hello? Hello?!” Before his uncle could react, Xu Yun had hung up.

His aunt, standing to the side, asked with concern, ”What did Xu Yun say?”

”He said he’ll call and talk about it after he gets to Jiangcheng.”

”...”

His aunt looked at Zhang Sujuan, a bit displeased, and said with a forced smile, ”Sujuan, d-did you not tell Xu Yun we were coming to see him?”

”I did, but I didn’t know you were coming today.”

Zhang Sujuan tried to explain for him, ”I didn’t expect him to leave so suddenly today either. The company really did have an urgent matter that he needed to go back and handle.”

His aunt was speechless.

Her husband, the uncle, tried to console her, ”It’s fine. In a few days, we’ll just go to Jiangcheng to see Xu Yun directly. We can have him show us around the city while we’re at it.”

”Alright. It’s better to discuss this kind of thing in person than over the phone.” His aunt was immediately relieved.

They chatted with Zhang Sujuan for a few more minutes, then drove away.

They came and went in a hurry.

Meanwhile, the man in question, Xu Yun, hadn’t even left the county yet, let alone gotten on the highway.

He had stopped again in front of the same flower shop where he’d bought flowers last time. He went inside and ordered a bouquet of 999 roses to be sent to Gao Wenwen.

Not only that, but he also pre-ordered roses for the entire next month.

From Monday to Friday each week, they were to be delivered to Gao Wenwen at school. On Saturdays and Sundays, they were to be sent to her home.

In total, he spent 10,000 yuan.

Only after arranging all this did he truly drive away.

Around noon, Gao Wenwen was resting at home when she suddenly heard a knock on the door.

When she opened the door, she saw an enormous bouquet of roses being pushed on a dolly.

After all, no single person could carry it.

”Hello, miss.”

The delivery person said with a smile, ”Someone ordered these roses for you, 999 of them. Please sign here.”

”Ah? Oh!” After signing the delivery slip, Gao Wenwen had the person bring them inside for her.

Looking at the roses that filled up her living room and smelling the overwhelming fragrance, Gao Wenwen didn’t even have to guess who they were from. Who else could it be but that guy, Xu Yun?

Gao Wenwen smiled happily and called Xu Yun. ”This is way too many flowers.”

”Not at all.”

Xu Yun replied, ”If I weren’t afraid your place couldn’t fit them, I would have bought out the entire flower shop and sent them to you.”

”You’re so extra.”

Gao Wenwen said happily, ”But this is too wasteful.”

”Can’t be helped. I’m rich, I can do what I want.”

Xu Yun said, ”Alright, I’m driving, so I can’t talk long.”

”Okay, be safe on the road. Bye-bye.”

...

「Four hours later.」

Xu Yun finally returned to Jiangcheng.

He didn’t tell anyone he was back.

When he got home, the whole place was spotless and very clean, even though no one had been there for several days.

It seemed someone had been cleaning it every day.

Xu Yun had been ”studying” all last night and had driven for several hours today. To say he wasn’t tired would be a lie.

So, he tossed his bag aside and fell straight into bed, fast asleep.

He slept for a good seven or eight hours. When he opened his eyes again, it was already past 9:00 p.m.

Outside the massive floor-to-ceiling windows, the whole city glittered with neon lights and was filled with endless streams of traffic—a complete contrast to the quiet of Jianghuai County.

Xu Yun stood before the window, taking in the beautiful night view with a deep breath.

”Jiangcheng, your Shurima has returned!”

For an ordinary, penniless worker, a big city is a steel fortress—cold, ruthless, and without a trace of warmth.

But for the rich, this place is a paradise where they can enjoy all kinds of resources and services.

As long as you don’t break the law, you can do whatever you want and enjoy a different kind of freedom!

If you’re willing, you can even find a lover’s paradise around every corner.

’This was the world that belonged to him. Jianghuai County was too small; it couldn’t contain his happiness or satisfy his desires. Even Jiangcheng, it seemed, was gradually becoming boring to him. Once his mindset elevated and his pockets deepened, he would open his eyes to the world and see what lay beyond Jiangcheng. And then, he would experience a different kind of pleasure!’
