Super Rich by Doing as You Please

Perhaps it was exhaustion from staying up so late last night. As he stared at her, his eyes closed, and he drifted off to sleep.

...

At Jianghuai Middle School, Gao Wenwen finished her class and headed toward the office in her high heels.

It was just that her gait was a little awkward.

Seeing this, the other teachers in the office asked in confusion, ”Teacher Gao, what happened to your leg? Are you okay? You’re walking with a limp.”

”It’s nothing. I went hiking on Taoyuan Mountain yesterday.”

Gao Wenwen explained, ”When I woke up this morning, my legs felt like they didn’t even belong to me. They’re unbelievably sore.”

’The hike itself was tiring, and then I spent the whole night fooling around with Xu Yun. We really went at it. Of course I’m sore!’

’It was definitely a case of overexertion.’

A male teacher with a crush on Gao Wenwen heard this and immediately asked with concern, ”Are you alright, Teacher Gao? How about this? After my class, I can stop by the infirmary and get some medicine for you.”

”No, thank you. I’m fine.”

Gao Wenwen sat down in her chair and said with a smile, ”It’ll be better in a day or two.”

”I wouldn’t be so sure. The last time I spontaneously joined some friends for a 5K run, my legs hurt for a whole week afterward.”

”Teacher Gao, Teacher Li has a point. You shouldn’t take this lightly. I’ll go buy you some White Cloud Spray right now.” After saying this, a young male teacher got up and headed for the infirmary.

A female colleague sitting nearby saw this and teased, ”Look at that, Teacher Gao. Teacher Wang is so concerned about you. He’s a nice guy, too. Have you considered him?”

”I’ve told you, I’m not planning on dating for the next few years.”

Gao Wenwen laughed. ”If you like him so much, why don’t you go for it?”

”No, thanks. He’s into you, not me.”

As the two were chatting, another female teacher walked in, holding a large bouquet of roses.

She had drawn a crowd of students on her way over.

Just as Gao Wenwen and her colleague were about to tease the newcomer, she walked straight over and handed the flowers to Gao Wenwen.

”Teacher Gao, a man just gave these to me and asked me to pass them on to you.”

”For me?”

”Yes, for you. And there are 99 of them.”

Her colleague looked on in surprise. ”Teacher Gao, and you said you weren’t looking to date? Someone’s already sending flowers straight to the office!”

”Er...”

Gao Wenwen asked uncertainly, ”Teacher Qin, do you know who asked you to give these to me?”

”The florist.”

”No, I mean the person who sent them.”

”How should I know?”

Teacher Qin asked, surprised, ”You mean you don’t know who sent them?”

”I have no idea.”

”Check if there’s a card with them.”

Gao Wenwen searched through the bouquet. ”There’s nothing.”

”It’s probably one of the teachers here at school who has a crush on you.”

The other two teachers said with a laugh, ”Whoever it is, they’ll have to reveal themselves sooner or later.”

Looking at the roses in her hands, Gao Wenwen suddenly thought of someone.

’Could Xu Yun have sent them?’

She picked up her phone and sent him a message.

”The roses... did you send them?”

But after waiting for quite a while, Xu Yun still hadn’t replied.

’Right. It was just a one-night stand. I’m overthinking this.’

A moment later, the male teacher who had gone to the infirmary to buy pain-relief spray returned.

He saw the large bouquet of roses on Gao Wenwen’s desk and was slightly taken aback.

After handing the spray he’d bought to Teacher Gao, he returned to his desk.

He leaned over to the colleague next to him and asked quietly, ”Who sent Teacher Gao those flowers?”

”No idea. They didn’t leave a name. It was anonymous.”

His colleague teased, ”You’d better step up your game. You’ve got one more rival now.”

The male teacher was speechless.

...

When Chen Xin woke up, the first thing she saw was Xu Yun’s face.

She jumped in surprise.

Then, she subconsciously glanced down at her clothes.

’Thank goodness, they’re untouched.’

’Wait, why are they untouched?’

’Am I really that unattractive?’

Women can be strange creatures sometimes, not even knowing what they themselves are thinking.

”Get up. It’s already dark out.”

Xu Yun straightened up and smiled. ”You’re a heavy sleeper. You’ve slept the whole day away. Are you hungry? I’ll take you out to eat.”

”Huh?”

Chen Xin said in surprise as she got out of bed, ”How did I sleep for so long?”

”You must have been exhausted these last few days.”

Xu Yun asked, ”When I came in, I heard you sleep-talking. It sounded like you were saying my name. What were you dreaming about me?”

”N-Nothing.”

Remembering the dream, Chen Xin’s face flushed slightly. She said, a little flustered, ”Hurry up and get out. I need to change.”

”Do I have to go out?”

Xu Yun said, ”I’ll cover my eyes. I promise I won’t peek.”

”As if I’d believe you.”

Chen Xin playfully scolded, ”Everyone knows you’re a total pervert.”

With that, she pushed Xu Yun out of the room.

Kicked out of the room, Xu Yun pursed his lips and muttered to himself, ”You’re lucky my mom is your protective charm, or I would’ve had my way with you ages ago.”

While waiting for Chen Xin to change, he checked his phone.

He saw that Gao Wenwen had sent him a message.

His phone had been on Do Not Disturb mode, so the notification had been silenced.

He opened the message and saw she was asking about the flowers.

He casually replied, ”Yeah, that was me. I was passing a flower shop and thought they were pretty, so I sent you a bouquet. Do you like them?”

Gao Wenwen’s reply came back almost instantly.

”Are you pursuing me?”

”Nope.”

Gao Wenwen: ”Good. I’d hate for you to feel guilty just because we slept together and think you have to make it up to me somehow.”

”But Teacher Gao, I do have one question.”

”What’s that?”

”What are we now?”

Gao Wenwen replied, ”Extremely close high school classmates.”

”Alright, whatever you say.”

”Oh, and one more thing.”

Gao Wenwen added, ”Don’t you dare tell anyone what happened between us!”

”Don’t worry, my lips are sealed. I promise I won’t get in the way of you finding a boyfriend in the future.”

”...”

....

Chen Xin came out of the room with a smile. ”I’m ready. Let’s go.”

”Okay.”

Xu Yun put his phone away and led her out the door.

As they were going downstairs, Chen Xin asked, ”Should we ask your mom to come with us?”

”She already ate and went to play mahjong. Don’t worry about her.”

”Oh.”

The two of them drove to a shopping center and found a decent skewer hot pot restaurant.

It was delicious and affordable—great value for the price.

While they were eating, Xu Yun asked, ”You still haven’t told me why you wanted to see me.”

”It’s nothing major, really.”

Chen Xin said, ”I just wanted you to come with me to get a new pair of glasses. I’ve had this pair for a long time, and they’re getting pretty scratched up.”

”Sure. I’ll take you as soon as we’re done eating.”

Chen Xin asked, ”Xu Yun, when are you planning to head back to Jiangcheng?”

”The day after tomorrow, probably. I’ll hang out for one more day tomorrow, then I have to go back.”

”So soon?”

”I’m a busy guy.”

”Busy getting back to all your other women?”

”Er...”

Xu Yun said awkwardly, ”Not entirely. After I’m back in Jiangcheng for a few days, I plan to travel around by myself for a bit, see the world, and search for that ’poetry and distant lands’ kind of thing.”

”You’re just going out to look for pretty girls.”

”COUGH, COUGH...”

Xu Yun nearly sprayed a mouthful of his soda. ”Chen Xin,” he said, ”I think you have the wrong idea about me. I’m not that kind of guy.”

”Go have your fun. When you get tired of it, you’ll come back eventually.”

Chen Xin said, ”Your mom and I will be waiting for you at home. I’ll help take care of her for you.”

Xu Yun was speechless.

’This woman... she’s being silly again.’

The meal came to a total of 186 yuan.

Chen Xin insisted on paying.

Afterwards, they went to an optical center, and Xu Yun started helping her pick out a pair of glasses.

They finally settled on a pair with thin, round, coffee-colored frames.

After putting them on, Chen Xin leaned in close to Xu Yun and asked with a smile, ”What do you think? Do these glasses look good on me?”

「Back at the school.」

After the second evening study hall session, Gao Wenwen returned to the office.

She took out her phone and reread her chat history with Xu Yun, the corners of her mouth turning up in a slight smile.

She felt a little flutter of happiness.

’After all these years, I’ve finally slept with the one I’d always idealized.’
