Holding Their Own Space, the Family Returns to the Apocalypse

132: As expected, Little Green was no ordinary frog.”Oh, I know, but... but I also want to come out and kill Alien Insects to gain experience. I don’t want to be protected under someone’s wing.”

Ai Yue had nothing to say to advise a hot-blooded youth like this.

Only by experiencing it himself would he clearly understand just how cruel this world truly was.

”Then take care of yourself.” After saying that, Ai Yue walked towards the east.

Little Green followed obediently behind Ai Yue.

She had more important things to verify and was in no mood or had the patience to continue arguing with the boy.

”Hey, hey, hey, beautiful elder sister, don’t go! There are Devil Frogs all around, you can’t get out. Only here with you is safe!” the boy shouted from behind.

Ai Yue waved her hand behind her as a farewell.

”Oh, beautiful elder sister, why won’t you listen to advice!” Seeing Ai Yue persist in her ways and ignore him, the boy looked disappointed that she wasn’t listening to reason.

After hesitating for a long time, seeing Ai Yue and Little Green disappear into the night, the boy stomped his foot hard.

”Ugh, women are such a hassle, they never listen to advice. I’ll have to be the one to save her!”

The boy rushed at Extreme Speed in the direction Ai Yue had disappeared.

Before long, he caught up with Ai Yue.

”Hey, beautiful elder sister, why are you acting like you’re just taking a leisurely stroll? There’s a swarm of Devil Frogs ahead, you should be a bit more serious!”

Catching up from behind, the boy saw Ai Yue pacing slowly with her hands behind her back, without the slightest posture of someone about to fight, and couldn’t help but speak up.

Ai Yue remained indifferent and glanced at the boy. ”Why did you come?”

”As a man, how could I just stand by and watch a weak woman go to her death! Naturally, I’m here to help you!” the boy said as if it were only natural.

Ai Yue was caught between laughter and tears by his words. To think there could still be such a sincere youth in the Apocalypse! He really had been protected too well.

It seemed his background was certainly not simple.

”Little brother, without a few tricks up my sleeve, how would a ’weak woman’ like me dare to roam the Apocalypse alone, don’t you think?” Ai Yue said in a teasing tone.

”Ah, that... that’s true.” The boy was taken aback and spoke blankly.

”But, but this time is different! There are hundreds, even thousands of Devil Frogs ahead. No matter how strong you are, can you escape their siege?” the boy added.

”Whether there are Devil Frogs ahead or not, we’ll only know after we go and see!”

”Hey, I’m saying, sister, you’re so beautiful, why don’t you trust people? I saw them, they’re really there!” The boy felt a bit unhappy. He had told her, yet she still didn’t believe him. It really hurt his pride!

Ai Yue stopped, looked back at him, and said in a flat tone, ”Do we know each other? Why should I believe you?”

The boy looked heartbroken, clutching his chest. ”Sister, you can’t be like this. We’ve clearly spoken and traveled together for a while now, how can you say that?”

”We’ve only traveled three hundred meters together and you want me to trust a stranger like you? Don’t you think that’s asking too much?”

”Besides, I’m just going to take a look, I didn’t say I didn’t believe you! Please be quiet for two minutes and don’t talk, okay?” Ai Yue said to the boy following her as she walked forward.

This boy was indeed pleasing to the eye, but he was also far too noisy.

”Oh, as long as you don’t disbelieve me, it’s fine. I’m a very good person, worthy of your trust, beautiful elder sister. Since you want to go see, I’ll accompany you.”

The boy said with a chuckle.

Ai Yue squeezed her fingers hard, suppressing the urge to seal his mouth shut.

She raised her hand to adjust the stray hairs on her forehead and continued walking forward at a steady pace without saying another word.

The fair-faced boy followed beside Ai Yue. His lips moved as if he wanted to say something, but seeing Ai Yue’s indifferent face in the moonlight, he swallowed his words.

The boy’s eyes were wide as he looked around, occasionally reaching out curiously to touch Little Green who was following alongside.

Little Green looked at this ”little snack,” and its tongue couldn’t help but twitch in its mouth.

Glancing at Ai Yue who was walking ahead, it pursed its lips tightly and ignored the little snack that was messing with it.

”Beautiful elder sister, it’s right ahead. We’re almost there, be careful,” the boy suddenly said.

”Mm.”

As they walked forward, doubt gradually filled the boy’s face. He scratched his head and muttered to himself, ”That’s not right. Where are the Devil Frogs? They were just here.”

”What did you say?” Ai Yue asked, looking at him after hearing his muttering.

The boy said in confusion, ”I remember it was right here, but... then again, maybe it was too dark and I remembered wrong.”

Ai Yue gave Little Green a subtle glance and nodded, saying, ”Hmm, possibly!”

Ai Yue continued forward. The two people and one frog walked for a long time, yet they still didn’t encounter a single Devil Frog.

The boy was starting to question his own reality.

The more he thought about it, the more he wondered if it was too dark to see clearly, causing him to make a mistake.

There was clearly nothing there. Had he hallucinated seeing a dense mass of Devil Frogs sitting quietly in a circle?

Finally, the boy decided it must have been because he was too scared, and his fear had generated a hallucination.

Thus, after self-hypnotizing, the boy felt that the facts were exactly as he had just thought. He happily said to Ai Yue, ”Beautiful elder sister, since there are no Devil Frogs, let’s wait until dawn before leaving.”

”No, I want to keep looking ahead!” Ai Yue said.

”Alright, I’ll accompany you to take a look then!”

The boy said in a cheerful tone.

An hour later, Ai Yue stopped and turned to look at Little Green.

”Eh? Sister, why did you stop?” the boy asked in confusion upon seeing Ai Yue stop.

”Since there’s no danger, why are you still following me?” Hearing his question, Ai Yue turned to look at the boy and asked.

”Uh... I, I want to stay with you for now and leave after dawn, is that okay?” the boy said embarrassedly.

Ai Yue thought for a moment and nodded in agreement.

She didn’t look for a suitable place to spend the night anymore and sat down directly on a raised mound of earth.

Having reached this point, Ai Yue already had an idea. The Little Green by her side was definitely not an ordinary frog.

The Devil Frogs the boy had attracted had formed a circle with her and Little Green as the center.

Not a single Devil Frog dared to approach them—more accurately, they didn’t dare to approach Little Green.

And those Devil Frogs that had surrounded them had clearly retreated. As for why they retreated, the answer was obvious: it was all because of Little Green.

This meant that Little Green was definitely a Devil Frog, and its status among Devil Frogs was not low!

Having obtained the answer she wanted, Ai Yue decided to temporarily use Little Green to intimidate the nearby Devil Frogs so they wouldn’t disturb her search for raw stones.

Once she had collected enough raw stones, she would have a good ”chat” with this emerald-green Devil Frog about why it insisted on following her.

She wasn’t narcissistic enough to think it was because her charm was so great that it insisted on following her.

There must be something on her that attracted it!
