Holding Their Own Space, the Family Returns to the Apocalypse

103: In this cannibalistic apocalypse, recklessness is not allowed.Three days passed in the blink of an eye. Da Wang no longer ate raw meat; everything he ate was flavorful, cooked meat.

As his body had shrunk, his appetite was no longer as large as before. He ate at most half a leg of lamb per meal, unlike before when he would eat one or two at a time.

Most surprisingly, every move Da Wang made, even eating, had become extremely elegant. He no longer acted spoiled or ran around wildly. Every day, he walked about with a gentlemanly stride and loved jumping into Ai Yue’s arms to lie down.

Li Shilan was quite sad about this. After all, Da Wang used to be most clingy with her, but now he liked to follow Ai Yue whenever he could.

Ai Yue expressed her helplessness, saying she didn’t know why Da Wang liked to cling to her so much now. In the past, in front of Li Shilan, he loved playing and fighting with her or acting aggrieved to get her scolded.

After her parents went to work, Ai Yue, who was doing simple exercises in the living room, heard the knocking sound again. Her expression shifted; it had to be Mo Li.

Since they returned, he had been knocking at the door at a fixed time every day, making excuses to take Ye Rui out to wander around the base, claiming it was to familiarize her with every part of the base so she wouldn’t get lost in the future.

Ye Rui, that silly girl, completely failed to see Mo Li’s intentions toward her. Every time, she would follow him out happily.

Ai Yue swung the door open, and sure enough, it was Mo Li.

Seeing him, Ai Yue said crossly, ”Why are you here again!”

Mo Li didn’t care about Ai Yue’s attitude at all. He said with a grin, ”I made plans with Ye Rui yesterday to take her to the North District today.” As he spoke, he bypassed Ai Yue and shouted into the house, ”Ye Rui, are you ready to go? The North District is huge, we need to leave early.”

”Hey, I’m coming, I’m coming!” Ye Rui ran out of the inner room in a hurry.

As she passed Ai Yue, she greeted her happily, ”Sister, I’m going out to play. I won’t be back for lunch. I’ll just eat a few Bloodthirsty Worms to replenish my energy.”

Ai Yue wanted to stop her, but seeing Ye Rui’s high spirits, she forced the words back down.

Seeing Ai Yue looking frustrated, Mo Li couldn’t help but grin and said, ”Don’t worry, how could I let Ye Rui eat those nasty worms? I’ll definitely take her to eat something good.”

Ai Yue gave Mo Li a resentful glare and told Ye Rui to come back early. Seeing that Mo Li wanted to say something else, Ai Yue unceremoniously slammed the door shut with a loud ’bang’.

Mo Li rubbed his nose and said awkwardly, ”Your sister is really heartless!”

Ye Rui secretly covered her mouth and giggled.

Da Wang opened his bleary eyes and glanced at the unhappy Ai Yue. He stood up, walked elegantly to her, gave a low growl, and with a leap, jumped into Ai Yue’s arms. He found a comfortable spot to lie down, gave a big yawn, and went back to sleep.

Ai Yue smiled helplessly. ”You, oh you. Now that you’ve gotten smaller, you sure love to sleep, don’t you?”

Ai Yue tapped his little nose and spoke dotingly.

Da Wang lazily opened his eyes to look at her, then turned his head and continued sleeping.

Holding Da Wang, Ai Yue flickered into her Space and entered the small house. Looking at the luxuriously renovated interior after the upgrade, with water, electricity, and gas all available—even pots, pans, and various seasonings—it looked exactly like a home from before the Apocalypse.

Ai Yue couldn’t help but feel emotional. Her efforts to go out, kill Ancient Centipedes, and collect transparent stones hadn’t been in vain. The small house in the Space had truly upgraded; it was in a completely move-in-ready state.

In this small house, there was no need to worry about water, electricity, or gas. Even meat, eggs, milk, vegetables, rice, flour, and seasonings would appear in a single person’s portion at a set time every day.

Even if Ai Yue had no stock, she could live entirely within the Space relying only on what it provided. Most importantly, she no longer had to worry about being kicked out of the Space once time was up.

After the Space upgraded, there were no longer any time limits for her.

The only pity was that, for now, other people still couldn’t enter the Space.

If her family could come in too, then Ai Yue’s survival in the Apocalypse would be completely worry-free.

Ai Yue set Da Wang aside and sat on the sofa watching a variety show to accompany her meal, eating snacks and drinking fresh juice. It was so pleasant!

It felt as if she had returned to the prosperous world in an instant.

After a rare day of decadence in the Space house, she flashed out of the Space feeling refreshed.

By this time, Ai Guosheng and Li Shilan had already returned from work. Ye Rui was back as well and had already prepared dinner.

After eating, Ai Yue felt she still couldn’t allow Ye Rui to keep contact with Mo Li. In this cannibalistic Apocalypse, romantic feelings between men and women were the last thing one should have.

Besides, Ye Rui was still young and couldn’t be fooled away by Mo Li.

Ai Yue cleared her throat and said directly to Ye Rui, ”Rui Rui, do you like Mo Li?”

Hearing this, Ye Rui’s face turned beet red. She lowered her head shyly and said in a small voice, ”Sister, I... I don’t know. I just feel... I feel especially happy when I’m with Brother Mo Li.”

Ai Yue only felt a headache coming on. What should she do?

This silly girl had likely fallen for Mo Li!

It was all that bastard Mo Li’s fault. Ye Rui was so young, and he had the nerve to have designs on her. Too much!

After careful consideration, Ai Yue advised her earnestly, ”Rui Rui, it’s not wrong if you’ve fallen for Mo Li, it’s just that the timing isn’t right. Let’s not even talk about the age gap between you two; just speaking of this cannibalistic Apocalypse, it’s not a suitable time for romance, right?”

Ye Rui looked at Ai Yue, who was seriously advising her, and suddenly burst out laughing. ”Hehehe...”

Ai Yue was stunned. What was it? Had she said something wrong? Why was she laughing like that?

Having laughed her fill, Ye Rui pursed her lips and said, ”Sister, don’t look so worried. Don’t worry, although I don’t know if this is romantic love, I will definitely not start a family or have children with him!”

After hearing this, Ai Yue’s expression was complicated, and she didn’t know what to say.

”To avoid actually having that feeling of wanting to be with him in the future, starting today, I won’t go out with him alone anymore. No matter how important he is, he’s not as important as my sister. I want to be with my sister forever.” Ye Rui finished proudly and, without waiting for Ai Yue’s reaction, went back to her room.

It was hard to tell if this girl was really as relaxed as she sounded or if she was just pretending.

However, regardless of whether she was pretending, she really couldn’t touch romance at the moment. At this time, she didn’t yet know how to protect herself. If in a few years she had her own firm ideas, Ai Yue wouldn’t stop her.

When Mo Li came to the door the next day, Ai Yue did not go out to open it.

Ye Rui opened the door and was as warm as ever toward Mo Li, but she declined to go out with him again.

Although Mo Li felt that Ye Rui’s treatment of him was no different from before, he just felt that something was off about the way she acted toward him. However, he couldn’t distinguish what was wrong for a moment.

In the end, he could only leave by himself.

Watching Mo Li leave, Ye Rui sighed deeply in her heart. She actually really, really wanted to be with him, but she also understood that the current world didn’t allow her to be wilful. Let it be!
