This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Later, it gradually evolved into swelling, numbness, and noticeable pain upon pressing.

Recently, it’s not just my wrist that’s uncomfortable; even the joints of my right hand fingers have a slight tingling sensation.

This makes my entire hand very clumsy, I can’t even hold the scalpel steadily.”

Shi Jin pursed his lips, looking at Du Heng with a hint of pleading, ”Doctor Du, I know coming to you at this time is quite inappropriate.

But these past few days, I feel the situation is getting worse, and I’m really a bit afraid to delay any longer.

Besides, you have a lot of experience with difficult cases, and you’re quite reputable in Jinzhou, so I could only shamelessly ask Jin to bring me here.”

While Shi Jin was speaking, Du Heng couldn’t help but look at Shi Jin’s wrist, observing it very carefully.

Just as Shi Jin finished speaking, before Du Heng could say anything, Jin Zan chimed in and said, ”Du, pay attention.

Shi is different from us; he relies on these hands for a living.

If his hands have problems and he can’t perform surgeries anymore, he really would be out of a job.”

Du Heng didn’t speak, just earnestly checked Shi Jin’s outstretched wrist.

A doctor who performs delicate surgeries, with a numbing wrist and fingers, if this develops long-term, the doctor would be ruined.

In a public hospital, this doctor would be assigned to outpatient service or as a teaching instructor.

But in a private hospital, there’s only one fate: being fired.

Capitalists don’t keep idle people!

Yet a doctor who performs hand and wrist surgeries can’t treat his own wrist and fingers, it sounds ironic.

”Doctor Shi, how do you consider your own situation?” Du Heng softly asked Shi Jin.

Shi Jin frowned and said, ”Before the onset, around the time before the new year, I performed several surgeries consecutively.

Adding to that was the large surgery of reattaching a severed finger, I once thought I was just overworking myself.

But after a while, I realized I was oversimplifying it, so I quickly sought other doctors for a diagnosis.”

Du Heng slowly said, ”Is it rheumatoid arthritis or rheumatoid arthritis?”

Shi Jin’s expression turned somber, and he said quietly, ”They all say it’s rheumatoid arthritis.”

Jin Zan chimed in again, ”Shi has consulted many experts during this time, he even went down south to receive many new treatment methods.

But as you can see, the condition hasn’t been controlled, let alone relieved, it’s getting worse.”

It’s apparent that Jin Zan is really worried about his classmate.

You can see him pause slightly, seriously looking at Du Heng and saying, ”Du, we’re all doctors, we know what rheumatoid arthritis is.

So before we came, I told Shi not to expect a complete cure, just to control the condition, so it doesn’t worsen so quickly.

Also, think of a way to alleviate the current situation so he can hold a scalpel.

That way, even if he can’t do similar work like reattaching severed fingers later, he could still perform other surgeries and earn a decent income.”

But just as Jin Zan finished speaking, Du Heng slightly sat up and smiled at Jin Zan, ”Brother, are you looking down on me, or do you not have confidence in me?”

Upon hearing this, Doctor Shi immediately showed a surprised expression.

But Jin Zan didn’t get excited immediately; instead, he said with a bit of concern, ”Brother, this is no joking matter.

If you could really cure rheumatoid arthritis, you’d have to win a Nobel.”

Du Heng laughed, ”Did I say I could cure rheumatoid arthritis?”

Instantly, Doctor Shi was hit hard.

Meanwhile, Jin Zan continued to frown, ”Then what did you mean by what you just said?”

Du Heng gently shook his head, ”Whether it’s rheumatoid arthritis or rheumatoid arthritis, I only know the name, not much about it.

But in traditional Chinese medicine, there’s a classification for Shi’s condition, it’s called Bi syndrome.

Your foundation is also in traditional Chinese medicine, you should know this, right?”

Bi syndrome?

Jin Zan awkwardly grimaced.

He knew the name, but wasn’t familiar with it; he really just knew the name and nothing else.

Seeing Jin Zan’s confused expression, Du Heng knew this kid only knew how to use a saw to cut bones now, so he didn’t expect him to say much.

Then he turned to Shi Jin and said, ”In traditional Chinese medicine, Bi syndrome refers to the obstruction of meridians due to deficiency of vital energy, allowing external evils like wind, cold, dampness, and heat to invade the body, impairing the flow of qi and blood.

When this occurs, the muscles, tendons, and joints can experience pain, numbness, and swelling.

In more serious cases, you probably know, it can lead to joint swelling, deformation, stiffness, affecting normal life.”

Shi Jin quickly asked, ”Doctor Du, so are you saying I don’t have rheumatoid arthritis?”

Du Heng shook his head and denied it directly, ”I didn’t say that, whether it’s rheumatoid arthritis or not, it needs a doctor professionally trained in modern medicine to determine.

I’m just explaining your condition from the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine.”

Upon hearing this, Shi Jin immediately realized he was too tense and said something inappropriate.

If others heard it, coupled with Du Heng’s current status, it might create some conflict between traditional and modern medicine.

Now that Du Heng wasn’t responding to him, and Shi Jin realized this, he immediately changed his question, ”Doctor Du, what’s really going on with me?

I was doing fine all along, and suddenly before the new year, it started, and it’s getting worse really quickly.”

Du Heng disagreed with Shi Jin’s wording and said gently, ”Apart from sudden injuries, other diseases don’t appear suddenly.

Your body has given you hints for a long time, but you never paid attention, allowing it to progress and worsen.”

Saying this, Du Heng pointed to Shi Jin’s left hand, ”You just said your right hand had problems, but does your left hand feel uncomfortable?”

Shi Jin raised his left hand, made a fist, relaxed, then made a fist again, relaxed again, repeated several times before saying to Du Heng, ”No other strange feelings, it’s fine.”

Du Heng shook his head lightly, ”Did you really not notice any other symptoms?”

Shi Jin moved his palm again but still firmly told Du Heng, ”No, exactly the same as before.”

Du Heng quietly sighed, fixating on Shi Jin’s face and said slowly, ”Then I’ll ask you, when you wake up every morning, do your hands or arms feel stiff or numb?”

As soon as this question was asked, Shi Jin was initially stunned, but then furrowed his brow and said, ”There is such a phenomenon.

But this is caused by my incorrect sleeping posture, right?”

Du Heng chuckled, then asked, ”The stiffness and numbness after waking up shouldn’t last long, three or four seconds, seven or eight seconds to ease, right?”

Shi Jin nodded somewhat confusedly.

Du Heng asked again, ”Do you remember when it started?”

Shi Jin quickly blinked a couple of times, then said in a not very confident tone, ”I can’t specify the exact time.

It seems to have started back when I was studying, during graduate school, or maybe these recent years at work, I really can’t recall.”

After saying this, Shi Jin puzzledly asked, ”Doctor Du, what’s really going on with me?”

”Phlegm-blood stagnation, meridian obstruction.”

Du Heng’s answer was quite straightforward.

Upon hearing it, Shi Jin looked perplexed at his hands and arms, coughing lightly twice, ”Doctor Du, I don’t have phlegm either.

Besides, I’ve never been injured, my whole body is fine, how could it be...how could it be...”

Jin Zan suddenly frowned.

Shi Jin’s words implied disbelief in Du Heng.

And this implied attitude made him quite uncomfortable.

But Du Heng wasn’t bothered, slightly smiling as he said, ”Doctor Shi, you were quite diligent in your student days, weren’t you?”
