This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

”Some are afraid to spend money and won’t go to school outside the area, others can’t borrow tuition fees and plan to drop out. Anyway, things are complicated, and we have to visit these families every day to understand the situation, work with the parents, and find solutions for them.”

Dong Yuezhang sighed and continued, ”Also, in recent days, among the senior third grade students attending extra classes, some have already dropped out to work, and it’s really frustrating.

You know, if these kids weren’t doing well academically, I wouldn’t be worried like this.

But according to my talks with the parents and the school teachers, these students’ grades are decent.

Not to mention 985, 211 universities, at least they’re guaranteed to get into a slightly better second-tier university.

You see, it’s such a shame if these kids drop out because of financial reasons.”

Dong Yuezhang said this while looking somewhat helplessly out the window, where directly outside was a towering mountain range.

The only view was the barren, grayish-brown fields and a few sparse trees.

In this July weather, right across from the Township Government, seeing so little green made Dong Yuezhang feel somewhat uncomfortable and uneasy.

In this damn place, what’s the way out if you don’t study?

Do we really have to work odd jobs for a lifetime?

Do we really have to be like their ancestors, facing the yellow earth with our backs to the sky all our lives?

Du Heng took a look at Dong Yuezhang and noticed that in the short span of two years he had become more mature and steady than before.

But at the same time, he didn’t seem to have the same drive and energy as two years ago.

Then he smiled and said, ”I guess there aren’t too many families like this. You could just take some money from the Township Finance, set up some subsidy or special funds, wouldn’t that solve the problem?”

Dong Yuezhang withdrew his gaze and collected his somewhat disheveled emotions, looked at Du Heng disdainfully, and said, ”Stop babbling, you know better than me what kind of situation your hometown is like.

In this poor ditch, the only places that can pay taxes are the few door and window manufacturers and the beer bottle cleaning factory.

But, just those factories, do you think there’s much tax revenue?

Let’s not even mention the tax problem, I owe it to them for setting up factories here and providing some jobs for our township.”

Du Heng took a deep breath, ”Really no money in the township?”

Dong Yuezhang immediately shook his head, ”Really no money.

Honestly, every penny in the account has a specific purpose. I can’t even afford to buy an extra green onion for the canteen without creating a deficit.”

Dong Yuezhang leaned back powerless and slowly said, ”The Health Clinic has a lot of money in the account, but after what you did last year, I can’t rely on that money now.

You know, my mind went hot at that moment, agreeing to let the Health Clinic become a branch of the Municipal Maternal and Child Health Hospital?

If only I hadn’t agreed, I could have found a way to get that money to do something practical for the ordinary people in our township.”

Du Heng scoffed lightly, ”You are quite optimistic.

If the Health Clinic hadn’t become a branch of the Municipal Maternal and Child Health Hospital, do you think it would have that much money in its account?”

This statement made Dong Yuezhang very uncomfortable, so he let out a heavy sigh.

Seeing Dong Yuezhang’s helpless expression, Du Heng suddenly said mischievously, ”Old Dong, I just donated 1,000,000 yuan to the police station above.”

Dong Yuezhang sat upright upon hearing this, and his eyes instantly lit up.

Du Heng smiled and added, ”Don’t doubt it, it’s really 1,000,000 yuan, and Director Gong even said he’d organize a grand donation ceremony for me.”

A million yuan!

Dong Yuezhang’s eyes were almost exploding with excitement, and he was practically drooling, ”Alright, this is great news, and you should have contributed this money.

You may not know, during the time our niece was missing, the police station, under Director Gong’s leadership, thoroughly searched every corner of Central Lake, almost as if they were checking door to door.

Moreover, it was the police station comrades who informed everyone about your high reward offer, and for fear that the ordinary people wouldn’t believe it, they even personally guaranteed it.

It’s absolutely right for you to pay this money.”

Dong Yuezhang spoke happily, and the light in his eyes was even more dazzling, especially with the breadth of his smile almost reaching his ears.

Seeing this, Du Heng was amused but also understood from Director Gong that Dong Yuezhang had his sights set on that million yuan.

Judging by his expression, it’s estimated that he’d want at least 300,000 - 400,000 yuan from Director Gong before he’d be satisfied.

Seeing this, Du Heng quickly added, ”But for this money, I’ve made a request that it must be used as special funds, overseen by my lawyer, and cannot be misused.

The money must be spent wisely and used to improve our township’s public safety services.”

”What?” Dong Yuezhang looked constipated at Du Heng, and then his eyes slowly turned as if he wanted to eat someone.

But before long, he sighed slowly with a bit of helplessness and powerlessness, ”This is also good, also good.

As long as there are no safety issues, it should be easier for me to find a few more factories to come.”

That’s what he said, but his tone was very reluctant.

Du Heng watched this scene amusedly, but he could also see that Dong Yuezhang’s work was indeed somewhat overwhelming.
