This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Du Heng’s words were quite considerate toward Jin Zan.

But Jin Zan still felt a bit embarrassed, even the person who came with him showed some awkwardness.

After all, this place and this time, neither are very appropriate for chatting.

Just thinking about their purpose this time, Jin Zan slightly tilted his head to look at Wu Shengnan and the child by the sick bed and then spoke lightly.

”Du, this is Shi Jin, my classmate from graduate school. After graduation, he joined the Hand and Foot Orthopedic Hospital as a highly respected attending physician, a pillar in their surgical department.”

Du Heng listened carefully to Jin Zan while indicating for both to sit down for a chat.

Upon hearing Doctor Shi Jin was hired by the Hand and Foot Orthopedic Hospital right after graduating with a master’s degree, he quickly deduced two pieces of news.

First, this doctor named Shi Jin, must have exceptional surgical skills; otherwise, a private hospital wouldn’t hire him right after graduation.

Second, the salary and benefits offered by this hospital must be far superior to those of its peers.

Otherwise, a graduate with decent surgical skills wouldn’t usually opt for a private hospital.

Once Jin Zan finished speaking, Du Heng immediately laughed and said, ”The Hand and Foot Orthopedic Hospital, the top surgical hospital in our Jinzhou.

I heard during the past New Year, your hospital rescued a child who had three fingers blown off by firecrackers and restored almost eighty percent of their finger movement. Truly remarkable.”

Shi Jin smiled slightly, showing modesty, but perhaps a hint of... pride?

What kind of expression is that?

Before Du Heng could savor this expression, he heard Jin Zan beside him saying, ”Du, you’ve heard about that too? Indeed, this surgery was performed by Shi Jin’s team.”

Oh my goodness, so that’s what happened? No wonder Shi Jin has that expression.

Du Heng looked at Shi Jin with delight, ”Pardon me, the esteemed expert I admire is right before me, and I couldn’t even recognize him.”

Shi Jin smiled humbly, ”Doctor Du, you’re being modest. Your contributions to post-stroke sequelae and pediatric cerebral hypoplasia, your reputation in the Jinzhou medical community, are things us ordinary folks can only envy yet cannot achieve.”

As the two seemed on the verge of engaging in mutual compliments, Jin Zan hurriedly interrupted, ”Alright, you two can compliment each other later, let’s talk business now.”

Du Heng chuckled lightly, but his gaze casually glanced over Shi Jin’s right hand, ”Why rush? I’m somewhat familiar with orthopedics as well, was thinking of consulting Dr. Shi more.”

Hearing Du Heng’s words, Jin Zan rudely rolled his eyes, ”Du, as you said yourself, we’re all brothers, saying that is pointless.

In orthopedics, aside from not being able to perform surgery, your skill level isn’t just ’somewhat familiar.’

You’ve changed after visiting the capital, becoming insincere.”

Seeing Jin Zan’s expression, Du Heng retorted defiantly, ”If you weren’t so shrewd, maybe you’d still have a couple of hairs on your forehead and not be shining like a light bulb now.”

Talking about his bald head certainly hit Jin Zan’s sore spot and weakness, instantly annoyed as he wiped his bald forehead, ”Rubbish talk, my forehead has nothing to do with being scheming. Among us, I’m the most honest and straightforward, alright?

This forehead is the result of my diligent studying.”

After finishing, he waved his hand irritably, ”C’mon, I’m talking business here, stop interrupting.”

Du Heng generously refrained from making more jokes, ”Alright, alright, go ahead.”

Jin Zan quickly adjusted, then pointed to Shi Jin, ”Du, you know, private hospitals are different from us, over there, if you’re capable and skilled, can handle surgeries and earn money, you’re treated like royalty.”

As he spoke, Jin Zan gave a thumbs-up.

But then he sighed, ”But once they deem you no longer valuable, they’ll discard you like an old shoe, without the slightest human touch.”

Du Heng said calmly, ”Private and public hospitals are certainly different. The investor is after profits as the priority.”

Jin Zan let out a lengthy sigh and said, ”Today we’re here to ask if you could help take a look at Old Shi.

If you can’t help, then Old Shi might end up being deemed worthless by the capitalist.”

”Oh?” Du Heng asked with a bit of uncertainty, ”That wouldn’t happen to Dr. Shi, would it? At Shi’s level, even if he goes to a hospital in the south, he’d be highly sought after.”

Jin Zan shook his head and spoke to Shi Jin, ”Old Shi, tell Du your situation.”

Shi Jin cleared his throat, lifted his right hand slightly, and said, ”Doctor Du, I’d like you to take a look at my hand.”

Before he finished a sentence, his tone sank low, followed by a heavy sigh, ”I’m a surgeon who specializes in reconnection of severed fingers, among other precise surgeries.

But since this past year began, my wrist on this right hand has started feeling numb.
