This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

After expressing gratitude and leaving the gifts he brought, Du Heng’s wish was finally fulfilled.

When everyone returned to the police station again, Du Heng asked Gong Daoyang, ”Gong, where is Liu Gong? Why haven’t I seen him until now?”

Gong Daoyang softly exclaimed, ”You know Wang Shizhen, right?”

”I know him, he’s my classmate.” Du Heng asked, somewhat surprised, ”Did something happen to him?”

”He’s fine. It’s their agritourism that has a problem.” Gong Daoyang shook his head, ”Liu Gong left just before you arrived, and now he’s probably dealing with the issue.”

Du Heng asked curiously, ”Wang Shizhen’s family runs an agritourism business. What could possibly happen?”

”What happened? It’s serious; their food had issues.”

Food had issues?

Du Heng was suddenly startled.

For those running agritourism businesses, their biggest fear is food-related problems.

But Gong Daoyang laughed and said, ”Your classmate is quite talented, creating some medicated diet, which has become quite popular, attracting many people to visit.

But during this hot summer, who knows what kind of nourishing meal they concocted. After guests finished eating around eleven, their nosebleeds started flowing continuously.

Luckily, your classmate is also a doctor and managed to treat it. But after just a few minutes, the bleeding started again.

This made the guests think they had eaten something bad, and suspect Wang Shizhen was doing it on purpose, making money from both meals and medical fees.

A few wrong words were said, tensions rose, and then it escalated into a physical altercation.”

Du Heng heard this and his eyelids twitched violently.

He knew about Wang Shizhen’s medicated diet.

Early last year, not only did he taste it himself, but he also taught Wang Shizhen a few medicated diet recipes.

But he never imagined it would cause such problems.

Still, it wasn’t that big of a deal, so he moved on after hearing about it.

Du Heng exhaled gently, then straightened his expression and said to Gong Daoyang, ”Gong, is the police station short on funds?”

”Why? Are you planning to make a donation?” Gong Daoyang replied with a casual smile.

But Du Heng nodded earnestly, ”I really have been thinking about it.”

As soon as Du Heng finished speaking, Gong Daoyang became serious too, ”Are you serious?”

”Of course, how can I joke about something like this?” Du Heng stared intently at Gong Daoyang.

But Gong Daoyang frowned, and after a slight pause, said, ”Brother, are you trying to express gratitude because of the child’s situation?

Let me tell you, that is completely unnecessary.

Just like Xiao Gao said earlier, this is our job; it’s what we are supposed to do.

Furthermore, what’s our relationship?

Even without orders from above, we would definitely give it our all.”

Listening to Gong Daoyang’s sincere voice, Du Heng pursed his lips and said, ”Gong, it’s undeniable that I did have that thought, and it is one of the reasons.

But it’s not the most important reason.”

Gong Daoyang frowned at Du Heng but didn’t speak, waiting to hear more.

Du Heng gently coughed and said, ”I’m a local, and I’ve also started my business in Central Lake. The better it develops here, the more proud I am when I’m outside.

You are our protectors, and when things go well for you, local people’s sense of security increases, and they work harder.”

”If you’re going to say it, say it properly; what do you mean by ’taking care’ of us.” Gong Daoyang gave Du Heng a speechless glance, ”But, you’re right.”

Then Gong Daoyang laughed, ”Since you, mighty Du the tycoon, are willing, I can’t refuse such a kind offer. So, I’ll thank you on behalf of our colleagues at the station, and our community’s ordinary people, thank you for contributing to everyone’s safety.

So, are you planning to donate 10,000 yuan, or 50,000 yuan? I wouldn’t mind even more.”

Gong Daoyang knew Du Heng’s financial status, so after a brief thought, he accepted it.

Doing this would indeed improve the police station’s conditions, and it would also help Du Heng gain some prestige in the community. After all, you can’t have the tea grow cold now that he’s left.

Hearing Gong Daoyang’s playful tone, Du Heng simply held up one finger.

Gong Daoyang responded with an understanding sound, ”10,000 yuan, huh? That’s fine; it will certainly help improve our meals.”

But Du Heng simply shook his head.

Hmm?

First puzzled, Gong Daoyang’s eyes suddenly sparkled, ”100,000 yuan?

Wow, Du the tycoon is really going all out! Thank you, thank you very much for your support of our police work.”

100,000 yuan?

Though surprised, knowing Du Heng’s financial status, Gong Daoyang considered it a mere trifle.

Yet, Du Heng shook his head again.

This time, when Du Heng shook his head, Gong Daoyang’s sparkling eyes instantly turned sharp, and his brows furrowed tightly.

”1,000,000 yuan?” Gong Daoyang slowly asked, ”Brother, you better not get carried away.

I know you won’t miss that 1,000,000 yuan, but do you know what 1,000,000 yuan represents? Do you know what 1,000,000 yuan means for a rural police station like ours? Do you know how much can be accomplished with 1,000,000 yuan?”

Du Heng nodded slowly, ”I know.”

”Then why are you...?”

”Stop hesitating, just let me know whether you want it or not.”

Gong Daoyang exhaled deeply, and after some time, said, ”Brother, if you said 10,000 yuan, I would jokingly accept it.

If you said 100,000 yuan, I wouldn’t refuse either.

But 1,000,000 yuan... that’s too much.”

Du Heng spoke earnestly, ”Gong, I’ve made up my mind, so don’t worry about it.

Besides, the money is for the police station, not you personally; why are you looking so stressed?”

Gong Daoyang pursed his lips and remained silent, staring at Du Heng for a long time before finally asking, ”Are you really going to donate?”

”Yes.”

”No regrets?”

”Regret my ass.”

Gong Daoyang inhaled deeply, then slowly exhaled, ”Brother, since you are determined to donate, I have a few requests. Can you consider them?”

”Go ahead.”

Gong Daoyang swallowed hard, ”Divide the money into two parts, one part as cash with a note stating it is special funds for the public safety of Central Lake, sponsoring the development of our town’s joint defense initiative.

The other part should be spent on office supplies like tables, chairs, police cars, and also refurbishing the canteen.

Can you arrange it this way?”

Du Heng’s face twitched slightly, ”Gong, I’m giving you the money, you decide how to use it based on your needs.

Why make it so complicated?

I trust you and Instructor Huang, go ahead and handle it confidently.”

But Gong Daoyang sighed deeply, ”Brother, it seems you haven’t realized what 1,000,000 yuan means.

If you donate it all in cash, do you believe that before you even turn around, the district bureau will come and take a portion? Mayor Dong, your classmate, might also come for a share.

Writing a note is to avoid such things; if you purchase office supplies, they can’t exactly take them from our office, can they?”

Du Heng rolled his eyes, ”Then can’t they drive away the cars?”

Gong Daoyang shook his head, ”That won’t happen, I’ve submitted reports for cars at the station several times. The district bureau wouldn’t dare to take them, even if they are shameless.

But if you give it all as money, they might show no shame.”

Listening to Gong Daoyang describe his superiors like this, Du Heng rolled his eyes, ”Fine, let’s do as you said.” He then discussed specific actions with Gong Daoyang.

Du Heng originally intended to quietly wrap things up.

But Gong Daoyang disagreed.

He argued that this kind of good deed should be done publicly, so everyone knows it’s funded by the tycoon.

Gong Daoyang said that if Du Heng agreed, he would proceed that way; if Du Heng didn’t agree, he would still proceed that way.

No choice, Du Heng had to accept.

After settling on this, Du Heng went with Kang Zhirong across to the Town Government to find Dong Yuezhang.
