This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Take our Central Lake Village as an example, the police station and the township government together have six million yuan, which might solve some small problems.

For example, buying some office supplies for the police station and slightly improving their welfare; or helping students with financial difficulties to continue their education.

But to solve other problems, it’s far from enough.”

Du Heng paused slightly, then continued, ”Just like those villages deep in the mountains like Shiban Village and Mubangou, due to issues like transportation and education, they need to be entirely relocated. Do you think six million is enough?”

Kang Zhirong thought for a moment and said nothing.

Du Heng continued, ”Some other villages do not meet the relocation conditions, but their water is still sourced from small mountain springs.

And these small springs are shared by both humans and animals, which is a major health concern.

If you want to transform the drinking water system, can six million cover the cost of this project?”

Kang Zhirong shook his head directly.

Du Heng sighed slightly and said, ”Central Lake Village is a mountainous township with a large area, but the population is gathered based on the convenience of farming, so although it seems like a village, it is still relatively scattered.

A larger village might have a hundred households, but a smaller one might have only a dozen households.

And under the current national policy, all these villages must ensure access to roads, electricity, water, and the internet.

But these issues cannot be fully handed over to the relevant departments; they are also overburdened.

To solve these problems, the township government itself needs to take the lead and put in the effort, but to resolve them, money is needed.

Considering the little money I donated, which project do you think could be completed?”

This time, Kang Zhirong did not even shake his head, he just drove in silence.

Yet, Du Heng continued, ”What I just mentioned, once done, can be left alone for a long time in the future, but there are still issues that need concern and spending every day, month, and year, such as healthcare and education.

Do the schools in the villages need repairs, should the teachers’ salaries be paid, should the village doctor’s clinic be repaired, should the village doctor’s salary be paid?

How long do you think that little money can last in these aspects?”

Kang Zhirong felt his head ache a bit from Du Heng’s words and tried to steer away from this foreign topic, saying, ”It all comes down to lacking money.

If there is a lack of money, then just like before, make more burn ointments, bone injury ointments, and the cosmetic cream that we are about to discuss.

But just this afternoon, as I sat next to you, I heard clearly that you came up with at least eight prescriptions.

And four or five of them are for treating skin diseases, right?

You said that if we apply for a patent for these prescriptions like before and cooperate with Mr. Liao’s company, we could make a fortune.”

When Kang Zhirong said this, he felt a bit unconvinced, adding with a slightly regretful tone, ”If we have money, a lot of money, then you could donate even more.

Wouldn’t that help more people?”

Du Heng glanced back at Kang Zhirong, smiled silently, then slowly said, ”The essence of a prescription is to cure and save people.

The previous burn ointment and bone injury ointment were mass-produced because there were no special requirements for the patients’ conditions; as long as the condition matched, you could use it.

If the condition is mild, use a little less; if severe, use a bit more, it won’t have other impacts on the patients.”

Du Heng took a deep breath, ”But the prescriptions mentioned today are different in essence.

Take stroke patients as an example, their outcomes are the same now, either paralysis or hemiplegia, but the causes are fundamentally different.

Although the few prescriptions I mentioned are generally applicable, the effects are not the same, which undoubtedly increases the pain level for patients and also requires more human and financial resources from them.

As for skin diseases, they cannot be generalized.”

Seeing the indifferent expression on Kang Zhirong’s face, Du Heng emphasized a bit more, ”Take skin rashes for example, some are caused by internal dampness and heat, some are due to blood toxins, while others are because of issues with their own immune system, and even more so because of genetic deficiencies.

If one of my prescriptions were made into a Chinese patent medicine and ended up delaying the patients’ treatment due to being inappropriate, who could bear this responsibility?”

Kang Zhirong suddenly murmured, ”That’s not your fault, it’s because they didn’t get checked properly. Besides, there are so many new Chinese patent medicines now, and I haven’t seen any problems.”

Listening to Kang Zhirong’s murmur, Du Heng said seriously, ”Just because you don’t know, doesn’t mean there are no problems.

Furthermore, other diseases have a buffer period, whereas many skin diseases do not.

Once an issue arises, regardless of discomfort, in terms of consequences, slightly severe cases can be disfiguring, and more severe ones can be life-threatening.”

Finally, Du Heng said heavily, ”I want to make money, but not the kind of money that I am not sure about.”

”But you shouldn’t reveal all the prescriptions,” Kang Zhirong said somewhat pettily.

Du Heng suddenly laughed, shook his head, and said, ”There is this great line from a movie: If you learn, you teach; if you earn, you give.

People shouldn’t be so petty, nor should they focus only on their own business.

Look forward, look further, perhaps because you have taught and given, you may gain even more.”

Kang Zhirong grimaced slightly in embarrassment, realizing that Du Heng was saying he had a narrow mind.

But narrow-minded or not, it doesn’t matter, as he has to consider essential needs, life, and family since he doesn’t earn as much as the boss.

Maybe when he earns as much as the boss one day, he might have a vision like the boss.

For the rest of the journey, Kang Zhirong asked no more questions, not allowing Du Heng another chance to call him narrow-minded, and drove Du Heng to the hospital directly, then quickly left.

It wasn’t until the next morning, after picking up Lawyer Zhou together, that he dared to appear before Du Heng again.

Du Heng had already forgotten about yesterday’s events and directly discussed the donations with Lawyer Zhou.

Once everything was settled, Lawyer Zhou took Kang Zhirong back to Central Lake Village.

At this moment, Wu Shengnan, pursing her lips, looked at Du Heng slowly and said, ”Husband, why not make a donation to our team too, or give them some benefits.

Everyone’s quite exhausted usually, plus it’s dangerous, and the salary is just that much.”

Du Heng shot a disapproving glance at Wu Shengnan, ”My God, why are you thinking like this? Are you having a fever, or do you think I have money burning a hole in my pocket?”

Wu Shengnan lightly rocked the child in her arms, looked at Du Heng unhappily, and asked, ”Just a joke, why are you scolding?”

”Is this a joke? You almost scared me...”

Before finishing the sentence, the door to the hospital room was suddenly pushed open, interrupting Du Heng.

”Old Jin, why are you here, not busy today?”

Du Heng looked at Jin Zan entering the room, his face immediately lit up with a smile.

But seeing the person who came in behind Jin Zan, Du Heng looked a bit surprised.

Because he didn’t know this person, not even a bit of impression.

Jin Zan walked into the hospital room with a smile, ”There were surgeries the past two days, couldn’t spare the time, but today is a bit free, so I came quickly to see the child.”

While speaking, he walked over to the child.

Once there, he played with the child and asked Wu Shengnan about the child’s situation and chatted briefly.

Then he walked back to Du Heng’s side and started talking to Du Heng.

This time, however, he seemed a little embarrassed, ”Old Du, I didn’t want to bring this up today, but since it’s urgent, I can only bring it up.”

Du Heng glanced at the companion behind Jin Zan, smiling, ”Brother, we’re not outsiders; just say what you need to.”
