This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Truth be told, two years ago, he had been working for six or seven years, but he didn’t even have 3,000 yuan of savings in his account.

This was the savings of someone with a stable government job, let alone the farmers in the village who only had their own farmland to rely on.

So, if he could prescribe medicine, he would. If not, and surgery was necessary, Du Heng would explain.

Somehow, the news of Du Heng treating the villagers spread to the village administration.

This made things even more remarkable, as villagers from surrounding villages came running over one by one. They were all embarrassed to be there, awkward, and even a little obsequious. However, they stayed rooted to the spot, and none of them left.

However, these people knew it wasn’t appropriate to bother Du Heng at this time, so they consciously queued up at the door, not entering the room to disturb him.

But there were also some who were inconsiderate, especially a few elderly relatives of Du Heng who shared his surname. They were particularly boisterous and liked to meddle.

Of course, these people were elders, so the Du brothers, Du Heng and Du Ping, couldn’t really say anything. However, their village head, whose surname was Liang, didn’t share their surname and scolded these individuals directly, not indulging them at all.

Neither of the Du brothers was dissatisfied because the village head scolded their elders. They even wished the village head had directly slapped them a couple of times.

Those people were really annoying!

And so it went. Starting from Liang Lihai’s house on the afternoon of December 28, it continued until four in the afternoon on December 30, when the last person was finally seen off.

Actually, that wasn’t truly the last person. Many more were still waiting, especially those who had rushed over upon hearing that Du Heng didn’t charge for consultations—their numbers were immense.

They finished at four o’clock, mainly because at that time, everyone needed to start preparing the new year party, and the Du brothers also had to hurry to visit the ancestral graves.

However, it wasn’t the patients who left consciously, but thanks to their village head. He directly used a loudspeaker to announce that after four o’clock, anyone who didn’t leave would be driven away.

Since it was the New Year, and this was originally a good deed, no one wanted to make things too unpleasant, so they temporarily let Du Heng off the hook.

When the consultations were finally over, Wu Shengnan, along with Du Xuejing and Du Yi, began to tidy up the room. However, Du Xuejing and Du Yi promptly kept Wu Shengnan from working, not letting her do any of the chores.

Wu Shengnan stood proudly next to Du Heng and said with a smile, ”Honestly, what was all that about? You were busy for two whole days during the New Year, and not only did we not make a cent, but our family also went through twenty packs of disposable paper cups and two bags of noodles.

Sister-in-law and Big Brother’s things for the new year were completely cleared out. If Tingting and I hadn’t gone into town today, we wouldn’t have had anything for dinner tonight!”

As Du Heng tidied the items on the table, he said with a smile, ”They’re all fellow villagers, and since it’s the New Year, we couldn’t just let people wait outside, could we?

Besides, I only come back once or twice a year. An event like this is rare, so just consider it a way to connect with our fellow villagers.”

”It’s easier said than done,” Wu Shengnan glared at Du Heng. ”Look at Sister-in-law; she’s so tired she can hardly straighten her back. Though, you’re not wrong—Sister-in-law has been smiling very happily the whole time.”

Yes, it was certainly tiring, but the way things were handled was admirable. It brought the family a great deal of respect. From now on, anyone who saw Sister-in-law would surely greet her with a smile.
