This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

With Li Jianwei’s help, Du Heng managed to handle the school matters in just half a day.

However, other workplaces were not as accommodating to Du Heng.

Take the Municipal Bureau, for instance.

It was now the New Year, and though the workplaces still appeared to be operating, their primary focus was no longer on handling regular business. Instead, they were busy with year-end summaries, various meetings, and preparing things for the New Year.

Du Heng’s sudden request caused a considerable headache for some leaders at the Municipal Bureau.

First, they feared that if Du Heng left, the Municipal Maternal and Child Health Hospital, which was just starting to show improvement, would revert to its old ways.

Second, there were personal reasons.

After all, with Du Heng’s presence this year, Jinzhou’s Municipal Bureau had firmly secured its position as the Big brother among its provincial counterparts, making a significant impression.

Receiving approval from their superior leaders was an especially huge compliment for them.

During a meeting a few days prior, they had even puffed out their chests, assuring their leaders they would redouble their efforts this year and achieve even greater glory.

Now, it seemed if they wanted to fulfill the slogans they had proclaimed for the next year, they would have to find another way.

Another concern was something Du Heng had already thought through long before. So, before the leaders could tactfully broach the subject, Du Heng preemptively offered a solution.

The projects would remain unchanged, continuing along their current path and with the current team, while he would manage them remotely.

This immediately earned the appreciation of the Municipal Bureau leaders.

They felt that this young man, Du Heng, not only possessed impeccable professional skills but also conducted himself in an admirable manner.

However, the leaders still expressed their concerns about the projects’ progress and inquired about available personnel to take over.

This was just a routine inquiry. After all, these two projects were Du Heng’s own. Whoever Du Heng designated as responsible, even if the leaders were dissatisfied, they couldn’t just replace them.

But since things had progressed this far, Du Heng still showed his respect for the leaders, lavishing praise on Wu Buwei and Li Shuxun.

After Du Heng had clearly explained everything about the projects, the Municipal Bureau leaders also showed him respect regarding the successor at the Municipal Maternal and Child Health Hospital, seeking his opinion.

Of course, asking this was not merely out of respect for Du Heng.

They had never intended to replace the hospital’s dean in the first place. In fact, they had been planning for Du Heng to also take on the Secretary’s responsibilities after Secretary Huang’s transfer.

Therefore, for the position of dean at the Municipal Maternal and Child Health Hospital, there was effectively no one suitable in mind.

Now, with Du Heng making this somewhat surprising move, they had to consider promoting someone from within.

Regarding this candidate, Du Heng had been pondering the matter ever since Lan Changhua had spoken to him.

But he knew that while he could suggest who might take the position, the final decision still rested with the Municipal Bureau’s arrangements.

However, given the progress of the Municipal Maternal and Child Health Hospital over the past year and with two projects currently underway, his opinion would definitely not be ignored. As long as he voiced it, the leaders would certainly consider it.

The key issue, however, was that Du Heng himself didn’t have a candidate he could completely trust.

Ultimately, making the best choice from a limited pool of candidates, Du Heng recommended Vice Dean Lu Guangying to the leaders.

There were three reasons for his recommendation.

First, she was a doctor native to the hospital. If she took over his position, the entire handover process would be very smooth. It wouldn’t be like his own experience when he took over from the previous leader and had to make many adjustments to personnel and affairs.

Secondly, Lu Guangying, like him, was a dean who came from a professional background. She understood how a project should operate and possessed the necessary professional knowledge. If a purely administrative dean were to be transferred in—one who was reluctant to let go of those two lucrative projects and also wanted to assert their leadership—then he, being so far away, would genuinely have no good options.

Third, among the people he knew, Lu Guangying seemed to be the only one who could be a dean and perform the job well.

Moreover, the most important thing was that although Lu Guangying had some flaws, they were mainly issues of attitude; furthermore, the hospital’s own problems at that time also needed to be considered.

Later on, Lu Guangying’s professional competence was beyond question. Moreover, she had approved of and supported his measures concerning the hospital.

So, this point alone was enough for Du Heng to recommend her, without needing to mention anything else.

Du Heng didn’t widely publicize his departure, and Kang Zhirong, heeding Du Heng’s advice, kept quiet about the matter.

So when Du Heng arrived at the hospital, it was still business as usual. He greeted those he normally would and occupied himself with his own tasks.

Du Heng sat in his office chair, closed his eyes, and once again savored the feeling of being in this position. When he no longer found it interesting, he called Lu Guangying over.

”Dean Lu, I’m leaving for the Capital.” Upon her arrival, Du Heng didn’t beat around the bush and directly informed her of his decision.

Lu Guangying was initially smiling, chatting with Du Heng about the New Year duty arrangement, and remarking that this year’s benefits were much better than in previous years.
