This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Chapter 198: 198 The chamber of blood wide open

In the evening, after Du Heng finished his rounds, he went to the duty dormitory on the second floor.

He video chatted with Wang Shuqiu for a while, and then talked to his niece Du Xuejing, telling her to focus on her studies before hanging up the phone.

He also wanted to read, especially the newly acquired surgical knowledge, which he needed to reorganize. This surgical knowledge included a variety of contents, such as boils, abscesses, and various skin diseases. The most amazing part was that it even contained Jinchuang Ke, a specialized medical field for treating injuries caused by sharp metal weapons.

The problem was, in this society, minor blade injuries didn’t really need his treatment, and neither, effectively, did serious ones.

Du Heng was curious if the system would eventually reward him with the content of Zhuyou Ke, or sorcery.

It’s actually quite interesting, he mused. A TCM doctor, the Dean of the Health Clinic, performing shamanistic dances, burning yellow paper, and muttering incantations... The image is too vivid; I dare not imagine it.

After reading for a while, he fell asleep without realizing it.

He felt like he had just fallen asleep when the dormitory door was pounded on frantically.

Du Heng was startled awake. He rolled over and quickly opened the door. ”What’s wrong?”

”Dean, you’d better go to the Hall! There’s an emergency.”

”An emergency?” Du Heng was a bit puzzled. The Health Clinic never handled emergencies.

”It’s Zhang from the Township Government, and Mr. Zhao. Zhang’s lower half is covered in blood; it’s still dripping! Oh, hurry up and take a look!” The nurse seemed a bit embarrassed and urged Du Heng downstairs after her anxious explanation.

Du Heng was completely bewildered. Didn’t we just attend their wedding banquet a little past six o’clock? How could they be at the hospital now?

Wedding? Blood? Bleeding from the lower body? Could it be a massive hemorrhage?

Thinking of Mr. Zhao’s burly physique, and then of the passion pent up for more than a decade, Du Heng felt it was very likely.

He rushed downstairs in a few quick steps. Mr. Zhao was panicking, standing beside Zhang, wringing his hands, unsure what to do. Seeing the blood between Zhang’s legs, his face was deathly pale.

Zhang was in a similar state. Besides her pale face, she looked utterly drained, sitting limply on the rest bench with her legs slightly apart.

Looking at the blood on Zhang’s lower body and then at the pool on the floor, Du Heng strode over to Mr. Zhao. ”Mr. Zhao, what happened?”

However, Mr. Zhao just mumbled incoherently, his face a mask of embarrassment and self-reproach.

Du Heng had a rough idea of what had occurred. He supported Zhang from the other side. ”Mr. Zhao, please help me get Zhang to the consultation room. Let her lie down on the small bed.”

After entering the consultation room and helping Zhang lie down, Du Heng asked his question again.

Seeing that both Mr. Zhao and Zhang were too embarrassed to speak, Du Heng frowned slightly. ”It’s come to this, and you’re still not talking? Just tell me!”

Eventually, under Du Heng’s pressure, Mr. Zhao, his face flushed red, softly explained what had happened.

It was just as Du Heng had guessed.

Mr. Zhao was physically fit and a PE teacher. Having lived alone for over ten years, he was undoubtedly full of vigor. Zhang, however, was different. She had a deficiency in menstrual essence, or perhaps had even reached menopause, making such vigorous activity unsuitable for her. If they acted with the unrestrained passion of youth, her ”blood chamber” would inevitably rupture and hemorrhage severely.

Du Heng looked at Mr. Zhao and Zhang, unsure how to describe his feelings. Both had been celibate for a long time; experiencing this misfortune was, in a way, understandable.

”Lie flat and don’t move. I’ll go decoct the medicine,” Du Heng said to Mr. Zhao. Then, he turned to the nurse, ”Go get a mattress and a roll of Toilet Paper.”

With that, he turned and headed to the Pharmacy.

The nurse followed him out. She had only been working with Du Heng for a month and wasn’t very familiar with him. Encountering such a situation for the first time, she was still a bit flustered. Once they were further from the consultation room, she hesitated. ”Dean,” she said to Du Heng, ”she’s lost so much blood. Shouldn’t we send them to a Big Hospital?”

Du Heng looked back at the nurse. ”What are you afraid of?”

”I... I...”

”Don’t worry, it’s a minor issue. Just focus on your tasks and don’t mention this to anyone. They’re both part of the same community; if word got out, it wouldn’t be good for either of them.”

The nurse was inexperienced. After hearing Du Heng’s words, her face turned a little red. She quickly nodded and hurried upstairs to get the items.

Du Heng couldn’t help but smile. If Wang Lili had been on duty today, she wouldn’t have been embarrassed at all; she would already be helping Mr. Zhao clean up.

There was no one on duty in the Pharmacy, but the key had been left behind. He just needed to report and hand over everything to the Pharmacy Doctor when the pharmacy staff started their shift.

Du Heng had already decided on the prescription: Angelica Blood-Nourishing Soup, for replenishing qi and blood.

But after taking out the astragalus and angelica, Du Heng paused.

Zhang is currently suffering from a massive hemorrhage. The most important thing is to stop the bleeding, but Angelica and Astragalus Soup doesn’t have that effect. What should I do?

Looking at the rows of medicine cabinets, Du Heng thought for a moment, then pulled open the drawer for notoginseng and took out some notoginseng roots. Notoginseng root—a miraculous medicine for stopping bleeding.

Then he opened another drawer and took some mulberry leaf, useful for nourishing kidney yin and possessing excellent astringent properties.

However, this prescription should be able to stop the bleeding temporarily, but I’m afraid it won’t be enough for long-term results. Zhang’s current condition is a deficiency of Yin essence, and this prescription contains no medicine to replenish essence. But let’s stop the bleeding first and worry about the rest later.

After further reflection, he felt the formulation was sound. Du Heng took the herbs to the decoction room.

In the Physiotherapy Room, Mr. Zhao was overcome with embarrassment and shame. He kept trying to clean up the flowing Blood Water with Toilet Paper.

Unable to bear it any longer, he was just about to say something when Du Heng walked in with the medicine. ”Mr. Zhao, quickly help Zhang drink this.”

Mr. Zhao’s mouth opened, then closed with a sigh of resignation as he took the Decoction medicine.

After she finished drinking it, Du Heng instructed, ”Have her lie quietly for about twenty minutes to half an hour. The bleeding should stop.”

Seeing that the atmosphere was indeed quite awkward, Du Heng didn’t stay long. He turned and left, heading back to the Pharmacy. He needed to think carefully about how to write the follow-up prescription.

To nourish essence, Ginseng is a must. Sojutsu Var., for strengthening spleen and nourishing qi, this is also essential. I’ll also need to add rehmannia, cornus, ophiopogon...

In less than three minutes, Du Heng had prepared the prescription, but he didn’t rush to decoct it. Instead, he sat in the Pharmacy, dozing off.

He felt that Mr. Zhao and Zhang would definitely not want to receive further treatment at the Health Clinic tonight; it was too embarrassing. This was especially true since their jobs were different from ordinary people’s. One worked at the Township Government and often had contact with villagers; the other was a teacher. If this incident were to get out, they might be too ashamed to show their faces.

After about twenty minutes, Du Heng slowly strolled back towards the consultation room.

Hearing the two whispering inside, Du Heng couldn’t help but cough deliberately, then walked over with heavier footsteps.

The two people in the room heard him and consciously stopped their conversation.
