This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Chapter 166: 166 Daimai tightness

Once they were seated in the office, Du Heng looked at Jin Zan’s wife and decided not to beat around the bush, so he went straight to the point.

”Sister-in-law, it’s not my place as an outsider to meddle in your family matters like your marriage problems and the possibility of divorce. But I know my brother’s heart, and he really cares about you and the family. As his brother, I want him to be happy too. That’s why I asked him to bring you here. I hope you understand.”

The couple opposite remained silent, just quietly watching Du Heng.

Du Heng did not bother with any nonsense and continued after a brief pause, ”I heard from Jin that you both have been to the hospital for check-ups and found nothing wrong. Yet, you still don’t have any children. You have been taking traditional Chinese medicine and have tried to adjust, but with no effect. There could be several causes for this situation. First, the check-up might be wrong...”

Before he could go on, Jin Zan’s wife immediately said, ”The check-up results couldn’t be wrong. Jin should know this. We’ve been to the Provincial Women and Children’s Hospital, Provincial First Hospital, and their hospital. The results are all the same—no problem. Jin has a good sperm count and quality, and I’m fine too. My fallopian tubes are unobstructed, and my uterus is healthy. The doctor even told me that my eggs are of good quality.”

Du Heng nodded. ”A few days ago, when Jin came here, I examined his pulse and found no serious issues, just some fatigue. But that’s not a problem. Since it’s not an issue with the check-up results, the second possibility is a matter of regularity or some bad habits.”

This time, Jin Zan shook his head. ”No, we’ve been calculating our fertile days every time we try for a child. And it’s been two or three years, so it’s impossible that we’ve always miscalculated the dates. Besides, you know me, I don’t smoke, and I only drink occasionally with you guys, and even then, it’s not more than twice a year. As for other things, that’s even more impossible.”

Du Heng nodded knowingly. ”I can’t speak for other areas, but when it comes to internal medicine and gynecology treatments, I believe my skills are pretty good. So today, I asked you both to come here so I can examine you again.”

With a light laugh, Du Heng added, ”Of course, if you two have other ideas, just pretend I never said anything.”

Jin Zan glanced at his wife. ”Today, we came for you to check us out. We’re all friends here; you won’t trick us. If there’s really nothing we can do, then so be it. I’ll accept our fate.”

Du Heng looked at Jin Zan’s wife, who hesitated for a moment but nodded gently.

”Alright. I’ve already checked Jin a few days ago, and he has no major issues. Today, I’ll examine my sister-in-law. Please move over here so I can take your pulse.”

The two switched seats, and Du Heng started diagnosing Jin Zan’s wife’s pulse.

After checking both hands and asking some common questions, Du Heng fell into deep thought with a frown.

Impatient, Jin Zan urged, ”So, is there a problem or not?”

”Your wife has some liver qi stagnation,” Du Heng said, sitting up slowly. ”When the liver qi is not flowing smoothly, it will impact the spleen earth, resulting in the stagnation of spleen earth qi. This affects the waist and navel qi. Thus, the Ren channel can’t reach the Daimai (G26) channel. If the Daimai channel is blocked, the fetus’s mouth won’t open, and the essence won’t be received.”

Du Heng paused and looked at Jin Zan’s wife once more.

”The Daimai channel binds all channels, preventing them from moving erratically, like a belt hanging in front of a person. If the Daimai channel is blocked, the waist area will become fat. But looking at your wife now and considering your check-up results, the problem is not with the Daimai channel being blocked.”

”So there’s no problem then?” Jin Zan’s eyes dimmed.

Ignoring Jin Zan, Du Heng addressed his wife, ”Come on, stand up.”

Jin Zan’s wife shot a puzzled look at Du Heng before turning her gaze to Jin Zan.

Jin Zan was just as clueless about what Du Heng was up to but nodded at his wife anyway.

Du Heng stood up as well and asked, ”Do you usually feel anything different in your abdomen?”

Jin Zan’s wife thought for a moment. ”No, it’s fine.”

”Don’t move. I’ll press the Daimai (G26) point, and you tell me how it feels.”

Du Heng placed both hands on Jin Zan’s wife’s waist, his thumbs moved slightly inwards, and he pressed down on both sides of her lower abdomen.

”AH!” Jin Zan’s wife let out a soft cry.

Du Heng released the pressure and asked, ”What do you feel?”

”A bit of pulling, a lot of tension in that area.”

Du Heng nodded. ”Sit down.”

Once they were seated again, Du Heng continued, ”Do you usually feel a tightness around your waist, as if a belt is tightly wound around it?”

”Yes, but isn’t this normal? I often practice yoga, so feeling tight is normal.”

Du Heng shook his head. ”It’s not normal. You’ve confused the tightness of your skin with the tightness of the Daimai channel. Besides, your Daimai channel is not tight but rather constricted.”

Over the years, Jin Zan had devoted himself to orthopedics, and his knowledge of internal medicine had become somewhat blurred, to the point that he had forgotten many things.

Hearing Du Heng say this, Jin Zan immediately asked, ”What’s the problem?”

This time, Du Heng was calm. Finding the cause meant there was no need to worry.

”When the Daimai channel is constricted, it affects the fetus. Essence can reach the fetus, and the fetus can receive it, but it lacks the strength to be sustained.”

He looked at the couple and asked, ”What kind of medicine have you been taking for conditioning?”

Jin Zan thought for a moment. ”I consulted a senior doctor at our hospital. He said my wife had blood deficiency and prescribed Four Agents Decoction. When that showed no effect, we went to the Provincial First Hospital to see Deputy Director Li Jianwei. He also diagnosed it as blood deficiency and switched her to Angelica Blood-Nourishing Soup, but that didn’t work either.”

”The Director Li you mentioned, is that Deputy Director Li Jianwei from the Chinese Medicine Department of Provincial First Hospital?”

”Yes, that’s him. He’s also an associate professor at our school. Without the help of my advisor, I wouldn’t even be able to get an appointment. You don’t know, Director Li only has outpatient service twice a week in the morning. In the afternoon, he just goes back to his ward.”

Du Heng suddenly realized Li Jianwei’s outpatient service was so popular!

However, he didn’t say much about that. Instead, he told the couple, ”Hasn’t anyone ever told you that you don’t have blood deficiency, but instead, have both qi and blood Deficiency?”

Jin Zan’s wife remained calm, but Jin Zan immediately started to argue with Du Heng, ”That’s not right! Aren’t people with qi deficiency generally overweight?”

Du Heng almost choked on Jin Zan’s question. ”Bro, you’ve studied traditional Chinese medicine and are a doctor yourself. Even though you specialize in orthopedics, you haven’t returned everything you learned to your teacher, have you? Who told you that people with qi deficiency are overweight? That’s just nonsense.”

”That’s not right, either,” Jin Zan insisted. ”I do remember some things. People with qi deficiency have low physical stamina; after excessive exercise, they experience fatigue, profuse sweating, and even shortness of breath and dizziness.”

Looking at his wife, he added, ”She practices yoga for at least thirty minutes, sometimes even an hour. Let alone feeling short of breath and dizzy, she doesn’t even break a sweat.”
