This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Chapter 157: 157 Focus on the key points.

Du Heng and Wu Buwei didn’t stay longer than necessary. After giving a brief explanation of the patient’s condition, they immediately drove off.

Throughout the journey, there were several times Wu Buwei wanted to ask something, but he always held back at the last minute.

This hesitation clearly bothered Du Heng, who finally said, ”If you have something to say, just say it. Your fidgeting is making me uncomfortable.”

Wu Buwei glanced furtively at Du Heng’s expression. ”Senior brother, why did you needle CV-01 instead of Baihui (GV20)?”

”The patient had summer-heat and dampness tangled in his chest, preventing yin qi from ascending and yang qi from descending. This meant Yin and Yang couldn’t connect and circulate. CV-01 and Baihui (GV20) are Yin and Yang acupoints, respectively, and both can balance Yin, Yang, qi, and blood. So, either would have been suitable.

However, the patient’s feet were ice-cold up to below the knees. So I used a local acupoint. This method could quickly rouse the patient and immediately alleviate the coldness in his feet.”

Du Heng leaned back after explaining. ”If CV-01 is used correctly, it’s very beneficial for the body. Both men and women can benefit immensely.

For example, for women who have just given birth, pressing CV-01 or using the Kidney Shrinking Acupuncture Method can aid recovery. It’s similar for men, strengthening the kidneys and consolidating Yang. Also, if you feel impulsive, gently massaging this acupoint can help reduce that impulse.”

Wu Buwei’s eyes twitched slightly, as if he’d thought of something. ”Senior brother, is the Kidney Shrinking Acupuncture Method the same as Kegel exercises?”

”You can think of it that way.”

Wu Buwei said, ”Oh,” then asked, ”Why do we rarely hear about needling CV-01 these days?”

Du Heng chuckled. ”You saw the procedure earlier. That position is very awkward. Plus, this acupoint is surrounded by a dense network of nerves. If your skill isn’t up to par, don’t even think about it. So, while needling it is uncommon, moxibustion is still sometimes used there.”

Wu Buwei seemed to recall something and started chuckling to himself, HEH HEH HEH. Du Heng saw his lewd smile and immediately knew what the kid was laughing about.

About ten minutes later, they returned to the Health Clinic.

Upon entering the Hall, Du Heng saw Bao Mi sitting there. Bao Mi also saw him and quickly stood up to greet him. ”Doctor Du, you’re back.”

”Bao Mi, right? Come, let’s talk in my office.” Du Heng recognized Bao Mi at a glance. Among those who’ve come to see me for treatment, she’s the only pretty one so far.

The others were all old men or women, or middle-aged uncles and aunts. Very few young people, especially pretty ones.

It’s human nature to appreciate beauty, and Du Heng was no exception.

Of course, he had no ulterior motives; he simply found her good looks pleasant to see.

「In the office」

Du Heng finished examining Bao Mi’s father and walked back to his desk. ”It’s a bit worse than I expected,” he said. ”It seems I underestimated the impact of the heat depression in your father’s body.”

Bao Mi grew anxious. ”Doctor Du, what should we do about my father’s condition now?”

”Now that the heat depression in your father’s body has been cleared, we’ll continue with the same prescription for now. He can keep taking it. But this time, I’ll prescribe a fifteen-day supply. After he finishes this course, his limbs should regain some mobility, and the claw-like condition of his right hand, in particular, should completely resolve.”

Du Heng rewrote the prescription. ”I have several stroke paralysis patients here. Some came later than your father, but because they hadn’t undergone other treatments before and are hospitalized here receiving both medication and acupuncture, they’re progressing faster. They can now walk with family support, and a few have already been discharged to recuperate at home.

The issue with your father is twofold: relying solely on medication makes for slower results, and more importantly, the previous treatment was problematic. He was overly supplemented, but not in the right areas. That hindered my ability to supplement effectively. Now that the slate is clean, we’ll continue this medication to consolidate his condition, then switch to a new prescription. After another ten doses, he should regain sensation and be able to walk.”

”Thank you, Doctor Du. Thank you so much.” Bao Mi was quite emotional; for a moment, ”thank you” was all she could say.

Du Heng pushed the prescription towards her, smiling. ”You should thank yourself. If you hadn’t taken such good care of your father, a hundred doses of medicine wouldn’t have helped. When you get back, keep massaging his legs and arms. That will speed up his recovery.”

He handed the paper prescription to Bao Mi, then updated the records in the system. Standing up, he said, ”Come on, I’ll take you upstairs for a look. It might give you more confidence, so you don’t think I’m deceiving you. Let’s take your father along too; it’ll boost his confidence. He’ll be back to his old self before long.”

The Health Clinic’s new building was designed with an elevator.

However, from the time the building was completed until this past May, the elevator hadn’t been used. Li Qingde had shut it off to save electricity.

Unexpectedly, patients started arriving in May, and all of them had mobility issues. Du Heng had no choice but to reactivate the elevator. But after being idle for so long, it developed some problems.

What could be done? Get it repaired, of course.

In the end, the repairs cost over three thousand yuan. Who knew where all that money went? Even though the money was spent and the elevator was fixed, Du Heng always felt the logistics department had fleeced him.

Thinking about it now, it would have been better not to have shut it down in the first place.

So now, every time Du Heng saw the elevator, he felt a pang of regret. All that hard-earned money, poured into this thing!

Arriving on the second floor, they saw groups of two or three patients and their families moving about in the corridor.

”Hello, President Du.”

”Doctor Du, you’re here.”

Whether patients or family members, everyone greeted Du Heng with cheerful smiles.

Du Heng responded cheerfully but also announced loudly, ”Everyone, take it easy with the activities and get some rest. The acupuncture sessions will begin soon!”

The Health Clinic’s hospitalization department didn’t have a dedicated nurse station. One patient room was used as a nurses’ changing room, and another as the dispensary. The five nurses usually stayed in these two rooms.

Hearing Du Heng’s voice in the corridor, Wang Lili and a few other nurses came out.

Wang Lili walked over. ”Don’t worry,” she said. ”I’m keeping an eye on everyone. Those who can move around are allowed out for ten minutes of activity. Those who can’t are strictly kept in bed.”

Noticing Bao Mi and her father in the wheelchair behind Du Heng, Wang Lili asked, ”Is this a new inpatient?”

”No, I’m just showing them around to reassure the patient and his family. You all go on with your work; don’t mind us.”

”Okay, call me if you need anything.”

With that, she led the other nurses back into the nurses’ rest room.
