This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Chapter 195: 195 Brain lacks string

After taking a quick glance, Du Heng immediately looked away, feeling very uncomfortable.

He gave off the impression that everyone owed him something.

Du Heng felt that such a person couldn’t be deeply befriended.

Although his words weren’t problematic and were based on genuine objective reasons, his behavior was too casual and reckless.

”With your current condition, you’re basically unable to do anything. Do you have any source of income?”

”I’m doing cross-stitch. When it’s done and sold, I’ll have money.”

”Have you ever sold one?”

”Not yet. I haven’t finished the one I’m working on.”

Cross-stitch was popular a few years ago, but it seems like there’s no market for it nowadays. Moreover, he hadn’t sold any in three years. Relying on this to make a living, despite the unknown size of his cross-stitches, might lead to starvation.

Du Heng wanted to know Zhao Qiang’s attitude towards life. If Zhao Qiang himself wanted to live a better life, Du Heng wouldn’t mind working a bit harder to help him. But if Zhao Qiang was determined to just let things rot, Du Heng figured he might as well not complete this task. In the end, it probably wouldn’t just be him failing to complete the task; others would likely fail as well. At worst, he’d just get an earful from Song Jiaying, and there wouldn’t be any real loss to himself.

”Zhao Qiang, what are your plans if your skull is repaired?”

”Of course, I’ll go out and work to make money.”

”Why?”

Zhao Qiang’s expression remained unchanged as he rolled his eyes at Du Heng and said, ”I’m still young. I’ll definitely work to make money so I can marry a wife.”

This answer was acceptable enough.

”What can you do?”

”I can weld. I’m an intermediate welder, and I can earn more than 7,000 yuan a month.”

It’s a good technical profession. However, Du Heng had some reservations. Welding was likely a special type of trade. Even if Zhao Qiang’s skull was repaired, re-entering the field probably wouldn’t be easy.

”Haven’t you considered partnering with Zhao Bin to start a chicken farm?”

Zhao Qiang glanced at Zhao Bin beside him. ”They’re all rich people, afraid that I’ll take advantage of their success. How could they cooperate with me?”

As soon as these words were out, Zhao Bin immediately protested, almost jumping to his feet. ”Zhao Qiang, are you even human? Wasn’t it you who refused to cooperate with us? You listened to outsiders, feared that my family would take your land and give you less money, so you didn’t want to cooperate! I’m still here; you can’t twist the facts!”

If it weren’t for Du Heng holding Zhao Bin back, he would have jumped over the broken wall.

But even with Du Heng’s restraint, he still pointed at Zhao Qiang. ”Now, in front of Dean Zhao, you’re accusing us of not cooperating? Have you forgotten how you caused a scene at my house? Is there a truthful word in your mouth?”

Zhao Qiang maintained his usual demeanor, showing no fear in the face of the furious Zhao Bin. He still used that infuriating, rascally tone, ”Isn’t your family going to take my land?”

Zhao Bin was about to explode. If Zhao Qiang weren’t disabled, Du Heng wouldn’t have been able to hold Zhao Bin back today; Zhao Bin wouldn’t have been able to vent his anger until he’d knocked Zhao Qiang’s other skullcap off.

”President Du, look at him! Such a rotten person, not a shred of truth in his mouth. What’s the point of helping him?”

Indeed, he was a rotten person. His mind wasn’t all there, and he used what little cunning he had on his own kin.

Zhao Bin didn’t want to stay any longer. He shook off Du Heng’s hand and pointed at Zhao Qiang again, holding back his anger as he said, ”You’re really a piece of shit.”

Having said that, he left without looking back.

Du Heng was also exasperated; what a character he’d run into. It was clear now. There was no hope of this person cooperating with Zhao Bin’s chicken farm. He should just go find a job honestly. He himself could help look into some policies and connections, see if he could get the skull repair done for free. As for other matters, it would be up to Zhao Qiang himself. Helping someone this muddle-headed would just be a waste of effort.

”Zhao Qiang, you go home first. I’ll think of a solution for you. I’ll let you know when there’s news.”

After saying that, Du Heng turned and left. ”Zhao Bin, wait for me!” he called.

He caught up with Zhao Bin in a few steps, and they left together.

Du Heng wanted to say something, but Zhao Bin spoke first, ”President Du, you’ve seen and heard everything. He’s a person who can’t speak the truth and doesn’t know right from wrong. I don’t want to have any more dealings with him. So, I’m sorry, but I won’t listen or care about anything related to him in the future.”

”Alright, I understand.”

Du Heng could only swallow the words he wanted to say. When he returned to the clinic, he drove straight home.

This Zhao Qiang was another headache. It seemed likely that in the end, all his efforts would be for nothing, unappreciated.

「The next day」

Du Heng didn’t go to Zhao Qiang’s house or the next family. Instead, he went straight to the Health Clinic.

Today was Friday, and he needed to issue new medical advice for the inpatients and also arrange for those due for discharge.

In addition, there was another big event today: he and Wu Buwei would attend Zhang’s and Mr. Zhao’s wedding banquet after work in the afternoon.

When they were done, Wu Buwei found Du Heng. ”Brother Du, how much money should I give as a gift for Zhang’s wedding?”

It wasn’t surprising that Wu Buwei was having trouble deciding, as he wasn’t very close to Zhang and had never met Mr. Zhao. If it weren’t for Du Heng’s connection, he might not have received an invitation.

After all, Du Heng had some standing in Zhonghu Town’s small circle. Wu Buwei was Du Heng’s junior fellow apprentice, treated like a disciple. Out of consideration for Du Heng, an invitation for Wu Buwei was certainly not overlooked.

Du Heng thought for a moment. ”Your situation is indeed a bit tricky. Give too much, and it’s not appropriate for your level of relationship. Give too little, and you’ll probably lose face.”

Du Heng touched his chin and paused. ”Don’t overthink it. Just give 200 yuan. Firstly, you’re not that close. Secondly, you’re still on a medical assistant’s salary and living on a tight budget. Thirdly, around here, casual friends usually give 200 yuan.”

With Du Heng’s nod, Wu Buwei finally felt at ease. He agreed and was about to leave. However, Du Heng patted his pocket and, realizing he hadn’t prepared any cash, asked Wu Buwei, ”Do you have 1,000 yuan in cash on you?”

”No, are you giving 1,000 yuan as a gift?”

”Yes. If it were just Zhang, I would only give 500 yuan, but since there’s also Mr. Zhao, my physical education teacher from middle school, if I don’t add another 500 yuan, it just wouldn’t be right.”

Du Heng said with a smile, ”I didn’t bring my card, so I’ll transfer 1,000 yuan to you via mobile phone. Can you help me exchange it for cash?”

Wu Buwei agreed and left.

Du Heng sat alone in a chair, preparing to rest for a while.

As soon as he settled into his chair, his brow suddenly twitched. He suddenly remembered that the system screen in the corner of his eye seemed to have flashed the day before yesterday. He’d been too busy at the time and hadn’t paid attention. Yesterday, he’d been riled up by Zhao Qiang and had forgotten all about it. Now that he had time, he could finally take a look.
