This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Chapter 167: 167 Women’s Broadband

Du Heng rolled his eyes sharply at Jin Zan.

”You’re a lost cause. If they ever cut open your head, I bet it would be full of nothing but bone fragments. If you can’t make it in orthopedics one day, you’ll starve to death out here.”

Du Heng, utterly exasperated with Jin Zan, continued, ”Besides, have you ever seen anyone who practices yoga break out in a sweat?”

”Isn’t that exercise, though?”

”Exercise, my ass! Others might not know better, but don’t you, as a doctor, understand? Apart from improving flexibility, what else can yoga do? Do you even know what it was originally for? Do you really think something like that has any ’exercise genes’ in it?

”It serves three main purposes: first, it does help women achieve a good figure, but that has nothing to do with exercise. Second, it satisfies the perverted desires of men like you. Third, it scams money from women like your wife.

”If you spent the same amount of time jogging, you’d get stronger, improve your physique, lose weight, and save money. Isn’t that a better deal?”

Perhaps Du Heng had hit a nerve, as both Jin Zan and his wife blushed slightly.

Du Heng didn’t dwell on this, instead saying to Jin Zan, ”You should also take some time to review your internal medicine. In orthopedics, it’s not enough just to piece broken bones together. Shouldn’t you also focus on post-operative recovery?”

Jin Zan also rolled his eyes at Du Heng. ”Look at you, acting like a leader now, lecturing me too? Stop sidetracking and tell me about my wife’s condition.”

”Listen or don’t, I don’t care.” Du Heng ignored Jin Zan and addressed his wife, ”You must have understood the problem just now. Your inability to conceive isn’t a matter of fate; it’s due to physical reasons.”

Jin Zan grew impatient. ”Just hurry up and tell us what to do! Stop dragging this out.”

Unruffled, Du Heng continued calmly, ”You currently have three issues. First, there’s liver qi stagnation. This issue itself isn’t severe, and now that it’s identified, it’s not difficult to resolve. It will naturally dissipate.”

The couple exchanged a glance.

It was true. Their arguments, talks of divorce, and resentment towards his mother all stemmed from their infertility. If they could conceive, the liver qi stagnation wouldn’t be an issue at all.

”The second is Daimai tightness, and the third is qi and blood Deficiency. Of course, these last two can also be categorized as one problem.”

”Hurry up and tell us the solution!”

”The prescription will be ’Kuangdai Decoction.’ It benefits the qi of the waist and navel and also greatly nourishes the spleen and kidney, which will then relax the Daimai.”

Jin Zan looked puzzled. ”Kuangdai Decoction? I’ve never heard of it. Did you just make that up?”

”Such ignorance! Will reading a couple more books kill you? It’s recorded in both ’Fu Qingzhu’s Gynecology’ and ’Bianzheng Lu.’ Brother, seriously, from now on, unless it’s about orthopedics, just keep your opinions to yourself, alright? You’re truly turning into nothing but bone shards.”

”Can this prescription also treat qi and blood Deficiency?”

Du Heng sighed. ”There are many herbs in the formula. Let me just mention one: cistanche. You know of it, right?”

”Of course. It nourishes kidney yang and benefits essence and blood. It’s all the rage online now, isn’t it? Some bigshot even invested in large-scale cultivation in our province and the one next door.”

”Since you know that, can we stop with the questions?”

”Why can’t I ask?”

”If it were your wife asking, someone who doesn’t understand traditional Chinese medicine, I’d explain it. But when *you* ask these things, I find it embarrassing.”

Jin Zan scowled. ”Oh, get lost! Look at you, getting all high and mighty.”

Du Heng ignored him and said to Jin Zan’s wife, ”Go home and take this medicine for five consecutive doses. The tightness in your abdomen will disappear. Then, continue taking it for a month. If you still can’t conceive by then, come find me.”

”Why would I need to find you for? Just hurry up and write the prescription! Oh, right, are you saying we can try for a baby while she’s taking the medicine?” Now that a solution was in sight and there was hope, Jin Zan’s playful mood returned. Du Heng had just put him down, and he wanted to seize the chance to jab back.

Du Heng didn’t indulge him. Walking over to get a pen and paper, he said, ”If your comprehension is up to par, then yes, you can. Also, go downstairs and register now. How can I write a prescription for you if you don’t register?”

”Just write it, don’t worry. What, are you afraid I’ll try to scam you or something?”

”I *am* afraid you’ll scam me. I don’t trust your character.”

Jin Zan turned to his wife. ”Honey, why don’t you go downstairs and register? I don’t know your ID card number.”

Jin Zan’s wife glanced at the two men, then turned and left to register.

The two men looked at each other and smiled, and Du Heng bent his head to start writing the prescription.

Their earlier exchange was just playful banter between brothers.

Being doctors, they both knew that treating patients and prescribing medicine required utmost caution.

Jin Zan and his wife wouldn’t cause any trouble, of course, but one could never rule out someone with malicious intent exploiting such a loophole.

If that happened, it would be like inviting disgust itself into your home—utterly sickening.

With his wife gone, Jin Zan became a bit more serious. He asked Du Heng earnestly, ”Brother, are you confident about this? You know we’re already on the brink of divorce. If this turns out to be false hope again, we might really have to go through with it.”

Du Heng quickly finished writing the prescription and looked up at Jin Zan, his expression serious.

He understood Jin Zan’s anxiety and could empathize with his fear of loss. ”I already said, if you can’t conceive, come find me. So, set your mind at ease. When you get back, don’t overdo it. Maintain a reasonable schedule for intimacy, just like before, and I guarantee you two will get what you wish for.”

”Alright, I’ll trust you one more time.”

”Get lost! Is that any way for a human to talk? If you don’t trust me, then don’t take the medicine.”

Jin Zan quickly forced a smile. ”My bad, my bad. Brother, I just got a little excited. Don’t take it to heart.”

Du Heng glanced outside and whispered to Jin Zan, ”Your wife was here just now, so there were some things I didn’t say. I was afraid of causing her undue mental stress.”

Jin Zan, who had just breathed a sigh of relief, tensed up again. ”What do you mean by that?”

”Daimai tightness makes it difficult for the fetus to be carried to term; it’s particularly prone to causing miscarriages. Plus, your wife practices yoga, and some yoga poses and postures demand extreme physical flexibility. So, given your wife’s constitution, it’s not that she can’t conceive, but that she’s exceptionally prone to miscarriages.”

Jin Zan frowned. ”Are you saying...?”

”Actually, your wife can get pregnant. However, she likely miscarries in the early stages. You and your wife might have mistaken these for her period or irregular menstruation and thus overlooked the problem.”

Du Heng kept an ear out for any sounds from outside the door, speaking in an extremely low voice.

Jin Zan, however, slapped his thigh sharply. ”I told her long ago to stop practicing that damn stuff, but she just wouldn’t listen!” he said in a hushed, frustrated tone.

”You’re still not getting it.” Du Heng frowned as he admonished him. ”Certain yoga movements are merely a trigger. The fundamental problem is the Daimai tightness. *That* is the underlying cause leading to miscarriages. Don’t confuse the primary issue with secondary factors.”
