Apocalyptic Disaster: I Hoard Billions in Supplies and Kill the Saint

43: Chapter 43 Lin Xiao’s PredicamentThe HR manager was stunned.

”You...”

”Don’t waste time. I’ll send my resignation email in a moment.” Ye Nanxing’s voice was cold.

”Get my salary settled. I’ll send someone to collect it.”

The HR manager panicked slightly.

”Ye Nanxing, don’t be impulsive. The company just wanted you to come back and explain things clearly. Causing a scene like this by resigning will only work against you...”

Ye Nanxing cut him off directly.

”Work against me? Hah, I’ve resigned, and you still want to blacklist me?”

The HR manager opened his mouth, but for a moment, he didn’t know how to respond.

Ye Nanxing continued.

”Since you could blacklist me because of Zhou Yixuan’s affair, that just goes to show—the company never truly valued my hard work.”

Her tone was indifferent, but her gaze was sharp.

”If that’s the case, then what’s the point of me staying?”

The HR manager was left speechless by her retort. After a long while, he said stiffly,

”...Then I will report your resignation to the leadership.”

”As you wish.”

After saying this, Ye Nanxing hung up the phone directly. She casually opened her computer, drafted a resignation email, and clicked ”Send” decisively.

At this moment, she had finally completely broken free from everything in the past!

No shackles, no exploitation, no workplace pretense or backstabbing!

She had never felt so free!

That evening, just after Ye Nanxing finished handling the construction progress on Tianlang Mountain, her phone vibrated.

She looked down and saw a message from Han Yiran—

[Han Yiran]: Miss Ye, could I possibly get an advance on two months’ salary?

Ye Nanxing raised an eyebrow and dialed his number directly.

As soon as the call connected, Han Yiran’s voice carried a hint of anxiety.

”Miss Ye, I’m sorry to bother you, but I’m really out of options.”

”What is it?”

Ye Nanxing’s tone was calm.

Han Yiran took a deep breath and said slowly,

”It’s Lin Xiao. His mother is very ill and needs emergency surgery, but he has no money to pay the medical fees.”

Ye Nanxing’s eyes flickered slightly.

”Lin Xiao?”

Han Yiran nodded and said,

”He is my best brother. He used to be a special forces soldier, but was medically discharged, so he doesn’t have much savings. All his money over the past few years has gone to treating his mother, and now he really can’t hold on anymore.”

Ye Nanxing tapped the desk lightly, lost in thought.

She didn’t know much about Lin Xiao, but Han Yiran was the first employee she had recruited, and he was always cautious and serious. For him to ask for help meant the situation was already very dire.

”What does his mother have?” she asked.

Han Yiran gave a bitter laugh, his tone heavy.

”Late-stage liver cancer. The hospital has already issued a critical condition notice.”

Ye Nanxing’s gaze darkened.

If it were just a common illness, she could just pay to have her sent to the best hospital for treatment, but late-stage liver cancer... with modern medical means, it was almost an unsolvable dead end!

She was silent for a moment, then spoke indifferently.

”Where are you?”

”South City Third People’s Hospital.”

Han Yiran paused, his voice filled with a hint of despair.

”Miss Ye, we’ve already been to several hospitals, and the doctors all said it couldn’t be treated, that we could only go home and wait...”

The rest of his words seemed difficult to say, his voice getting lower and lower.

Ye Nanxing’s fingertips paused slightly.

”Wait for death?”

Han Yiran didn’t speak, which was as good as confirming it.

Ye Nanxing narrowed her eyes, her tone calm but carrying an unquestionable weight.

”Wait there, I’ll be there soon.”

Luo City First People’s Hospital, inside the ward.

When Ye Nanxing and Han Yiran arrived at the ward, Lin Xiao was sitting by the hospital bed, his head lowered as he held his mother’s hand.

He was tall and sturdy, his skin tanned dark from long-term training, his eyes deep and resolute. Even in this desperate situation, his back remained straight, and there was not a trace of weakness or surrender on his face.

But hidden in the depths of his eyes was profound exhaustion and pain.

The woman on the hospital bed was pale, emaciated, her lips devoid of color; she was so weak that even breathing was extremely difficult.

The doctor stood to the side, his tone helpless.

”The patient’s condition is very poor. The cancer cells have spread too severely. Even if we perform surgery now, it would only delay the inevitable... Mr. Lin, you should prepare yourself mentally.”

Lin Xiao’s hand tightened slightly, the veins on his fist bulging.

He tried hard to suppress his emotions, his voice low.

”Doctor, I just want to know, even if there is a one in ten thousand chance, is there any way to save her?”

The doctor was silent for a moment, then finally shook his head.

”...No.”

Lin Xiao’s body trembled slightly, and the last glimmer of light in his eyes was completely extinguished.

He raised his head, his gaze resolute yet faintly showing despair.

”I will not give up.”

The doctor sighed.

”If you really don’t want to give up, you could try transferring to a higher-level hospital, but I still have to tell you, it’s pointless.”

Ye Nanxing stood at the entrance of the ward, watching this scene, and narrowed her eyes slightly.

She had originally only intended to help Han Yiran’s friend, but now, she had developed a bit of interest in this man, Lin Xiao.

This man, even at the last moment, did not bow his head.

He could accept his own death, but he could not accept his mother leaving him.

Such a person was worth her intervening to save.

After the doctor left, Lin Xiao finally noticed Ye Nanxing’s presence.

He looked at her with a slightly cold gaze, his voice hoarse.

”Who are you?”

Han Yiran introduced her immediately.

”This is Miss Ye, my boss.”

Lin Xiao frowned, his tone unfriendly.

”If you are here to gawk, then don’t bother; I’m not in the mood.”

Ye Nanxing chuckled.

”I am indeed not here to gawk.”

She walked slowly to the hospital bed, glanced at Lin Xiao’s mother, and her eyes darkened slightly.

This state was already a sign of being on the verge of death.

Ye Nanxing was not a doctor and could not cure cancer.

But—

She had spiritual spring water!

This was the most miraculous existence in her space.

The moment she drank it, all her fatigue would instantly vanish, and even small wounds on her body could heal rapidly!

What if... she tried giving it to Wang Fenglan?

Her hand reached silently into her pocket and pulled out a small glass bottle.

Inside was a clear, translucent liquid, emitting a trace of soft spiritual energy—this was a small bottle of spiritual spring water she had brought out from her space!

She handed the bottle to Lin Xiao, her tone calm.

”Let your mother have a sip.”

Lin Xiao stared at her, his eyes full of wariness.

”What is this?”

Ye Nanxing told a lie without changing her expression.

”An extract of precious herbs that a friend of mine brought back from abroad. It’s said to be able to alleviate pain.”

”Of course, I’m not sure if it will be useful. You decide.”

Seeing that Lin Xiao didn’t move, Han Yiran grew anxious on the side.

”Lin Xiao, just let your mother try it! Miss Ye never does things without being certain. Since she says it can help, it definitely isn’t something she just picked up randomly!”

Lin Xiao frowned, still somewhat hesitant.

But he looked down at his mother’s breathing, which was so weak it was almost inaudible, and finally made his decision.

However—

Just as Lin Xiao was about to feed his mother the spiritual spring water, the ward door was pushed open!
