Apocalyptic Disaster: I Hoard Billions in Supplies and Kill the Saint

29: Chapter 29 20,000 Tons of WatermelonsTo avoid suspicion, Ye Nanxing rented a large warehouse near the village as a temporary storage point.

This warehouse was originally an agricultural cold storage used for produce. However, because watermelons were slow to sell this year, it was nearly idle. She successfully negotiated a one-month lease for only 50,000 yuan.

The village chief personally organized the manpower, mobilizing all the village’s tractors, trucks, and tricycles to begin a large-scale harvest!

The whole village was buzzing with excitement!

”This young lady is so generous! This is life-saving money for our entire village!”

”Hurry up and load the trucks! A batch can be shipped out tonight!”

”Finally, we don’t have to watch the watermelons rot in the fields!”

Ye Nanxing stood at the warehouse entrance, watching truckloads of watermelons arrive, a glimmer flashing in her eyes.

In the dead of night, after everyone had left, she locked the warehouse doors and thought to herself—

”Collect!”

Buzz—!

In an instant, ten thousand tons of watermelons were swallowed into her space, leaving the entire warehouse empty!

The next day, when the villagers brought more watermelons and saw the warehouse that was full yesterday now completely empty, they were all shocked!

”Eh? Young lady, where are yesterday’s melons?” the village chief asked curiously.

Ye Nanxing smiled casually, ”I hired a logistics company to transport them overnight.”

The village chief clicked his tongue in wonder, ”That logistics company of yours is too fast!”

Ye Nanxing just smiled indifferently. Her ”logistics company” was a genuine ”instant receipt”!

Under the village chief’s arrangement, nearly 3,000 mu of watermelons across the entire county were harvested in five days.

A total of 23,000 tons of watermelons were collected, totaling 46 million yuan.

Once all the payments were settled, the village chief held Ye Nanxing’s hand with a face full of gratitude and said excitedly.

”Young lady, you are the great benefactor of our whole village! We watermelon farmers can finally break even this year!”

Ye Nanxing smiled and said.

”It’s mutually beneficial.”

Just then, the village chief suddenly remembered something, and his eyes lit up.

”By the way, young lady, since you can take so many melons, I wonder if you’re interested in winter peaches?”

”Winter peaches?”

Ye Nanxing raised an eyebrow slightly.

The village chief explained hurriedly.

”It’s a type of peach that ripens in September. It’s crisp and sweet, and it lasts longer than regular peaches. The village next to ours planted 2,000 mu, and they’ve been worried about not being able to sell them recently!”

Ye Nanxing’s eyes flickered.

Winter peaches?!

She knew them all too well!

When she was a child, there was a Winter Peach tree at her grandmother’s house. That taste... just thinking about it made her mouth water.

Tsk tsk!

But later, those awful relatives back home insisted on cutting it down to build a house. She had been heartbroken for a long time.

Now that she had encountered them again, how could Ye Nanxing resist?

Thinking about the Apocalypse, having one every day would be simply wonderful!

The corners of Ye Nanxing’s mouth curled up slightly as she readily agreed to the village chief’s suggestion, asking him to take her to check on the winter peaches.

Hearing this, the village chief slapped his thigh and said with a face full of smiles.

”Don’t worry, young lady, you definitely won’t lose out on this trip!”

”Our neighboring village has over 2,000 mu of winter peaches. Usually at this time, the price can reach up to six yuan per catty. But with the fruit glut this year, they can only sell for two yuan at most, and even then, it’s not a guaranteed sale.”

”If you take a large quantity, you’ll definitely get the lowest price!”

Ye Nanxing smiled slightly and didn’t reply directly. Instead, she started her SUV and drove toward the neighboring Winter Peach Village with the village chief.

Qingping Village was famous for growing winter peaches. Coincidentally, everyone in the village had the surname Tao.

Since winter peaches had always commanded a high price, it was a well-known wealthy village in the area.

The winter peaches, which used to be in short supply, had ripened early this year. Entering the market at the same time as other fruits, they had no advantage at all.

As a result, very few buyers had come to the village this year, and almost all the winter peaches in the village were unsellable.

Zhangzhuang Village, which used to envy Qingping Village, had many families who were jealous last year and wanted to switch to growing winter peaches, but they were stopped by Village Head Zhang.

The main reason was the high cost of switching crops, whereas the technology for growing watermelons was mature and wouldn’t go wrong.

There were many complaints in the village at the time, but after seeing the unsellable winter peaches in Qingping Village this year, the villagers who had wanted to switch were relieved that the village chief had stopped them in time.

Qingping Village was not far from Zhangzhuang Village, only a forty-minute drive. Village Head Zhang was in a good mood because all the village’s watermelons had been sold, and he introduced many things about the area to Ye Nanxing along the way.

Along the road, Ye Nanxing looked out the car window at the scenery.

Both sides of the road were covered with peach trees, their branches heavy with pink and white winter peaches. The air was filled with a faint, enticing fruity fragrance.

The autumn sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting dappled shadows and making the orchard look vibrant.

Ye Nanxing’s eyes flickered slightly—

This scene might be the last harvest commemoration before the end of the year.

As the car entered the village, she saw fruit farmers waiting at the entrance.

Leading them was a middle-aged man in his fifties. His skin was naturally dark, his clothes were simple, and he couldn’t hide the anxiety on his face.

After getting out of the car, the village chief immediately stepped forward to introduce him.

”Young lady, this is the chief of Qingping Village, Tao Dayong.”

Seeing Ye Nanxing get out of the car, the villagers of Qingping Village all gathered around. Village Chief Tao Dayong immediately greeted her with a smile.

”Village Head Zhang, this must be the Miss Ye you mentioned. Welcome, welcome.”

”I heard you were coming, so the villagers went to pick fruit and are just waiting for you!”

Ye Nanxing nodded slightly and gave a brief greeting.

”Village Chief Tao, I heard your peaches haven’t been sold yet?”

Village Chief Tao sighed, his face full of bitterness.

”Isn’t that the truth! After all, winter peaches are a rare variety. They hit the market in September and sell for more than regular peaches. But the weather has been abnormal this year; autumn peaches everywhere are ripening late. There are so many peaches on the market that nobody wants them, and our winter peaches aren’t moving at all.”

Ye Nanxing looked around and saw that the trucks at the village entrance were piled high with freshly picked peaches. Each was the size of a fist, with smooth skin showing a pink-and-white gradient—clearly a high-quality variety.

Stepping forward, she picked one up and sniffed it. A faint, sweet fruity scent wafted to her nose.

Ye Nanxing didn’t say much. She directly took a fruit knife from nearby, sliced off a piece of flesh, and put it in her mouth—

Crisp and refreshing, Extremely sweet, Excellent taste!”

Ye Nanxing had already made her decision.

She looked up at Village Chief Tao and asked.

”What’s your current market price?”

Village Chief Tao smiled bitterly.

”To be honest, in a normal year, they sell for five yuan a catty. But now there are too many peaches on the market. Buyers are driving the price down to two yuan, and they’re even being picky. Many peaches can’t be sold at all.”

Ye Nanxing said calmly.

”I’ll pay three yuan a catty and take them all.”

The air froze instantly.

The surrounding villagers were all stunned.

Village Chief Tao’s eyes widened in shock, his dark face flushing.

”Young lady, you... how much did you say?”

”Three yuan a catty.”

Ye Nanxing repeated, her tone certain.

”But the condition is that all the peaches in your village must be delivered to a warehouse I specify.”
