I Love Destroying Worlds' Plot

Chapter 1970: 24.231 Sixth Violet Star - Defending the Walls

With the assassination against the human commander, the assassins were now all exposed. There are those who tried to hide the whole time but were still caught in the end. It took a few hours to completely capture all the animals who are good in assassination. All tied up in the open area and locked in cages, General Gu Ying looked at these beasts who were all glaring at them, baring their teeth.

General Gu Ying looked at these beasts who were mostly at least lord grade; however, their intelligence is so high that one would mistake them as higher grade beasts instead until they closely check what grade of beast they are.

”General, these beasts are weird!”

”How come they possess the strength of a beast king when they are only at lord grade!?”

”These aren’t naturally mutated. General, these beasts... they might be genetically enhanced.”

”How can there be someone in the Barren Land capable of such a thing?!”

”Moreover, no other races aside from the beast live in the barren land.”

General Gu Ying recalled one person. This being possessed the body of the child yet possessed the composure and brain of an adult. The only human who left the main city to live in the barren lands. The traitor of the human race and the person who had hatched the evil beast god.

He uttered a name, ”Pei Jin”

”Pardon?” A military doctor said.

”Pei Jin, the youngest master of the former Pei Clan and the master of the Evil Beast God, Ourobors. If it is him then maybe... he started experimenting on the beasts to make them stronger.” General Gu Ying said.

The other doctors couldn’t believe what their general had suggested. Deep inside they do not believe a child like Pei Jin to be capable of such cruelty. After all, to reach this kind of result will need a lot of sacrifices and death. Just how many beasts had died under his hands to reach this kind of discovery. Increase the overall strength of a beast despite their levels. If this was used by the humans instead, just how powerful would they have become.

Unfortunately, this child is not only a traitor but also the person who had caused the deaths of the old marshal and the former marshal, Long Tian. There is no way the human race will be able to accept him. Now he is even staring the way and using all these enhanced beasts trying to eliminate them who had caused him to leave. This is his revenge and it is something they couldn’t avoid and becoming his enemy is something not within their control.

General Gu Ying said, ”I will give these beasts to you. I want you to learn how he was able to cause this kind of mutation or what kind of enhancement he caused. Try to learn everything you can from their corpses!”

”Yes, General!” The doctors in the borders said.

After the captured and killed beasts were sent to the laboratory, General Gu Ying starts to make even more preparation for tomorrow’s battle. Just to make sure, he had asked the soldiers who used to be sleepy but no longer to enhance the walls and bury more mines 50 meters away from the wall. He also tasked them to add more traps as the General had a feeling it would be more dangerous than these past few days.

The general and the soldiers work all night until dawn to complete the preparation for war. Even if they had to die defending these walls, the general and the soldiers will not regret it as this is their life duty.

As dawn arrived, the bad feeling that General Gu Ying had felt had become reality. This time the scouts at the walls reported with pale faces what he saw.

”General, the beasts are coming! They... They...!!”

”Calm down. Take a deep breath,” said General Gu Ying as the scout soldier did as he was told.

They watched as the scout tried to calm down but his shaking didn’t ease at all. Under their patient waiting the soldier finally speaks up.

”Beasts! Huge beasts! Mutate huge beast coming waves. They are coming for the walls!!!”

As soon as this news was reported, the other captains and General Gu Ying didn’t look surprised. They already anticipated that these beasts would try to destroy the protective walls that were erected all around the city. Using a powerful and big beast is the right choice.

Sigh~

General Gu Ying said, ”As expected, they had come for the walls this time.”

”Generally, I do not think that those traps from last night will be enough.” A soldier with a lower position than Gu Ying said.

General Gu Ying thought for a moment and looked at the scout, ”How big are those beasts? At least an estimation of height and weight, give it to me.”

”Most of them are half of the wall’s height and some were a third in height. Most kinds of beasts were elephants, big bears and hippopotamus.” The scout gave as many details as possible.

A subordinate of the general asked, ”General, have you thought of a way to buy some time?”

”I have a plan but I do not know if it would be effective.” General Gu Ying said.

”At this point where risk is everywhere, I am willing to take all chances of survival.” A soldier said.

”Me as well.”

”General, as long as we can survive and defend the walls we are willing to do anything!”

Seeing his soldiers looking at him with hope in their eyes, he can only wish he could protect them all. However, they knew in war, there is no way one can say they would truly survive. They needed to fight for their lives and only when the enemies had all died would they be able to go home alive after the war ended.

General Gu Ying shared with them his plans. At first the soldiers were in disbelief but after analyzing the possibility of blocking them and buying more time. All of these soldiers think that it is a possible way of survival at this point.

”Using the corpses of the beast to block the incoming one and attaching bombs on it is possible to do. But there are beasts who can fly so this needs to be done while trying to avoid those flying beasts.”

”There is also the problem of lack of black powder. Thankfully, we are making it everyday even before the war has begun. The one in the warehouses should be enough to block them for days.”

”Alright. Let’s do this!”

”We will kill the big ones first to be used as blockages and then try to eliminate as many beasts as possible.”

”General, let us do this plan. As the leader, you can only make a move once the leader of the opposing side has made his move.”

”Please leave it to us!”

The leaders of small teams and captains of each troop agreed to these plans and General Gu Ying stood at the wall as the last line of defense. When the second wave of the beasts had arrived, their plan had worked well at first. But as if the beasts were endless, the soldiers at the borderlands were overwhelmed and in the end, they were defeated. At the last moment before the beast reached the walls, General Gu Ying had finally made his move.

He stood at the center of the tall walls of the borders holding a two huge swords in his hands, he quietly waited for the beasts to come nearer within his range. The moment they had come closer, he waves his swords at the speed of light and everything within his range was cut by the wind blades from each of his every swings.

He stood at the walls and looked at the beast coming for the wall like an executioner that held a sword hanging around their necks. Most beasts had halted their march and avoided the range of General Gu Ying’s range of attack. From the walls, General Gu Ying’s range of attack is at least hundred of meters from where he is standing. Once he had merged with his beast, a Kamaitachi, his range was doubled. He is the very reason why these walls around the land of the humans continue to stand.

Meanwhile at the distance, the sleeping black lion had finally woke up. It looked in the direction where the human commander stood blocking all the beast on his path. He continues to wave his swords as if cutting the incoming beasts like vegetables.

Yawns~

”Another human who isn’t afraid of death? Making contracts with those evil entities was never one without consequences.” The black lion commander said.

Kamaitachi. This is not an ordinary beast. It is not even an ordinary animal but a mutation which leans to evil and is much closer to demons instead. They are monsters made from unknown means but they are powerful. It is just that since it wasn’t good at heart the consequence of signing a contract with it is no different from selling your soul to a devil.

It is certain that General Gu Ying will either die or fall into a coma after he finishes fighting. As for whether he can live or not. It would depend on the whims of the entity who holds the other contract.
