I Love Destroying Worlds' Plot

Chapter 1969: 24.230 Sixth Violet Star - Assassination

The letter from the old marshal.

This is a hidden letter that is unknown to anyone else from the Long Clan. If we are going to talk about its source one must talk about what else happened on the day the old marshal was assassinated and was brought back to the borders while at the brink of death. General Gu Ying, the former barracks captain, was the one who had welcomed back the old general and the others when they had returned to the city.

At that time, the old marshal was bedridden due to his injuries and he had been resting letting the doctors treat him. Maybe it was at that time that he had heard a voice in his mind. It was a surreal experience for a mortal like Long Huang but he couldn’t deny it as he was able to converse with the owner of this voice. The language it had spoken was something he heard for the first time. But as if something is directly translating it to his head, he was able to understand the words spoken to him.

The voice in his head says, {Mine own issue, heareth our voice. Thy destin’d to kicketh the bucket and t wast something thee hadst chosen the moment thee didn’t consumed yond pill and gaveth t hence f’r the sake of thy raceth. Thy fate, thee chooseth not to changeth t and thus thee shalt kicketh the bucket.}

The voice seems to sound like a man yet at the same time it was a woman. A mixture of a child’s voice and even an elderly’s tone was mixed in it. As if, a lot of people were talking simultaneously. The old marshal thought he wouldn’t understand this voice until it was directly translated to his mind.

What he heard was this, [My child, hear our voice. You’re destined to die and it was something you had chosen the moment you didn’t eat that pill and gave it away for the sake of your race. Your fate, you choose not to change it and thus you shall die.]

”I am going to die? No one can save me?” The old marshal, Long Huang, asked the voice in his mind.

The voice once again responded. {Those gents did save thee and gaveth thee a choice. Thee couldst has’t hath changed thy death fate if ’t be true thee hadst eaten the pill given to thee by the divine ones. Since thee gaveth t hence, thy fate remains as t is. To kicketh the bucket, this is thy fate. Thee shouldst has’t kicked the bucket in mis’ry aft’r losing thy forks and in the hands of the assassins again. This hadst hath changed as thy forks w’re did heal and thee hadst head’d to the blasted landeth. Aft’r thee hadst hath returned, thy fate wast did suppose to followeth through, yond’s wherefore thee w’re once again assassinat’d on thy way backeth and this timeth, coequal though those gents did succeed, those gents hadst did save thee again. The pill wast their lasteth m’rcy f’r thee. Those gents gage to int’rf’re with thy life only thrice and nothing m’re than yond.}

This is what he heard, [They saved you and gave you a choice. You could have changed your death fate if you had eaten the pill given to you by the divine ones. Since you gave it away, your fate remains as it is. To die, this is your fate. You should have died in misery after losing your legs and in the hands of the assassins. This had changed as your legs were healed and you had headed to the Barren Land. After you had returned, your fate was supposed to follow through, that’s why you were once again assassinated on your way back and this time, even though they succeeded, they had saved you again. The pill was their last mercy for you. They promise to interfere with your life only thrice and nothing more than that.]

The old marshal finally understood why he was given a pill this time and they didn’t come to see him even when he was dying. This is the last time they can interfere with his fate and a choice was given to him by those ancient ones. However, he never regretted giving away the pill to his student. He knew that as long as he gave the pill to Gu Ying, even though it would take some time, he would definitely be able to replicate this pill. As long as it can help regenerate limbs it would be enough for the human race to survive the future war against the beast race.

Long Huang chuckles as he whispers, ”By that time, I should no longer be alive.”

Then he recalled the words of Lord Hunluan and Lord An Shizhe before they left the Long Clan. At that time, Lord An had a slip of a tongue and revealed that they are planning on living in the core region of the Barren Land. The forbidden sanctuary that no other beast except for the Beast God can reside into.

He can still recall Lord Hunluan’s words at that time, {If fate was truly beyond and the equilibrium is broken we are willing to help this world for one last time.}

Recalling these words, Long Huang knew that he would definitely not be able to see that time as he would most likely be dead by then. That’s when he decided to write a letter. Not to his son, Long Tian, but to his student, Gu Ying. The reason for this is because he didn’t want to further burden his son from his current responsibilities. He plans to ask him to retire when he returns.

By the time the old marshal had left the borderlands with Mu Liao, Gu Ying came to the old room of his teacher as he was instructed to and that’s how he got the letter.

—

This is a letter that only General Gu Ying knew existed. Like what the old marshal had predicted, he and his people were able to replicate the pill he had left behind and a prototype was given to the military. He especially sent some to the old marshal after it was made. Who would have thought that the undead would become unrest and almost cause the main city to fall. It was also at that time that the alliance of the four races were made.

General Gu Ying would have forgotten about the letter if not for the sudden war that befall on their heads once again. This time the beasts had not only mutated, there was even a commander beast this time. With the extreme lack of resources like food, medicine and weapons, the general had also predicted that it would get worse in the future. That is when he remembered this letter from his teacher.

General Gu Ying looked at the full moon in the black evening sky. It was during this time that the general can vividly remember the existence of his teacher who had changed his life.

He mumbles, ”I finally understand what the teacher meant that regardless of one’s standing, before death everyone is equal.”

He slightly closed his eyes as the hand that held the glass of wine remained still. The general with his eyes closed looked like he was about to go to sleep. The hidden figure from the shadows slowly reveals himself and takes soundless footsteps towards the general.

The figure of this shadow is not that of a human, but instead a huge black jaguar who sneakily approaches his target. This mutated jaguar beast is one of the beasts who has sneaked inside the borders to do an assassination mission. However, just as he was about to bite the thin neck of the human in front of him, a sudden chill was felt by the wild beast and panicked.

”What the hell? It’s so cold.” The jaguar beast lord mumbles, ”Let’s kill him and go home ahead of time. As long as he dies the whole human race will fall into turmoil.”

”You do know that I can hear you,” said the supposed sleeping general.

Now he had his eyes open, glaring at the opened mouth of the black jaguar, General Gu Ying grabbed the beast’s neck and with a force a sound of bones cracking was heard. The general pretended to be asleep so those who were lurking in the darkness.

Crack!

The lifeless body of the black jaguar had fallen on the group. With a stern expression on his face, General Gu Ying had dragged the dead body of the jaguar and threw it outside where the soldiers were all resting and gathering around the bonfire.

Thud!

The soldiers were all shocked to see this lifeless body of a beast lord who is about to become a beast king. It seems that their general is so amazing that he had instakill this beast.

”A beast? Since when did it snoop in?”

”Do not investigate that one. Find the rest of the assassins on our territory and eliminate them all. Do not let even a rat pass those borders. I want to see the corpses of the assassins by morning,” said General Gu Ying.

The soldiers collectively responded, ”Yes! General!”
