The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

A voice offered congratulations, mixed with many complex emotions.

Song Ruqian’s eyes flickered lightly as she glanced at Wen Zishan. She too was puzzled as to why this one insisted on coming over, unbothered by the awkward atmosphere.

But, well, if the person doesn’t find it awkward, are we not going to be as composed as the other party?

She turned her gaze to Guan Shuyan, curious about how this newlywed sister-in-law would react?

Guan Shuyan, however, smiled shyly and said, ”Thank you, Lady Wen Zishan, for coming to the ceremony. I apologize for not being able to stand up to greet you.”

Wen Zishan’s mouth twitched slightly.

A maid came in to report that Song Lingsu was about to return to the courtyard.

The groom was about to return to the courtyard, so these ladies naturally had to avoid being seen. After all, propriety between men and women must be maintained. Even if Song Ruqian was leading them, they must avoid any inappropriate talk or scandals.

Wen Zishan glanced once more at Guan Shuyan, whose face, as rosy as the drapes in the bridal chamber, was particularly captivating.

She was the first to walk out, instructing her maid to send a message to Prince Zhou, explaining that she was feeling unwell and wished to return to the residence.

By that time, the night was gradually falling. Outside, the banquet was filled with the clinking of glasses and joyous laughter that never ceased.

Prince Zhou boarded the carriage and looked at Wen Zishan, noticing a hint of melancholy on her face, causing a flicker in his eyes.

”How is your health unwell?”

Wen Zishan smiled faintly and said, ”It has been a long time since I’ve participated in such festivities. Perhaps with so many people and the clamor, I feel a mild headache.”

”Is it a headache, or is it heartbreak?” Prince Zhou suddenly asked, looking strangely at her.

Wen Zishan’s expression changed, gazing at him in astonishment.

Prince Zhou laughed mockingly, saying, ”Back then, the Song Family was also inclined for a match with the Wen Family, but by a twist of fate, you were bestowed to me as a concubine. Do you feel discontent in your heart?”

”Prince!” Wen Zishan’s voice was sharp, her body trembling in disbelief.

What did he mean by this?

Prince Zhou said coldly, ”I don’t care how discontent you feel in your heart, but let me remind you, even though you are just a concubine, you are part of the Royal Family, with ranks. Aren’t you nobler compared to the wife of a mere scholar? They should show you respect, shouldn’t they?”

Wen Zishan’s face turned pale, her lips quivering, her head buzzing.

It was clearly late spring, nearing April, and the weather was gradually warming, yet she felt cold all over, shaking uncontrollably.

How could this person say such piercing words to her, even after sharing the same bed, usually speaking to her softly and gently?

”I...” Wen Zishan opened her mouth, and at that moment, everything went black, and she fell limply inside the carriage.

Prince Zhou was taken aback.

When Wen Zishan awakened again, she opened her eyes to Prince Zhou’s beaming face, momentarily unable to react.

”Shan’er, really now, do you not even know what changes your own body is undergoing? You nearly caused a major incident, you almost scared me to death,” said Prince Zhou, his face full of smiles.

Wen Zishan looked at him, memories gradually resurfacing. Earlier, his tone towards her was quite cold, and now he was smiling cheekily—was the previous encounter a mere illusion?

She then looked at the people around, seeing that those attending to her were all full of joy, smiling brightly, and she suddenly had a faint guess in her heart.

”What happened to me?”

”Congratulations to the Concubine, congratulations. You are with child,” the maids announced in unison, bowing courteously.

It was indeed true.

A hint of joy surfaced in Wen Zishan’s heart, but recalling Prince Zhou’s earlier tone, that joy was halved.

”Prince, Prince, terrible news.” Someone rushed in, filled with panic, to report.
