The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Song Ci noticed the people below were whispering quietly among themselves and couldn’t help but look over, raising an eyebrow.

Why has she come? Doesn’t she mind the awkwardness!

The one who came wasn’t just anyone but Wen Zishan, who is now married into the Prince Zhou Mansion. She entered with Madam Wen, dressed in the palace attire befitting a concubine of the Imperial Family, with a complex hairstyle adorned with a vermillion hairpin.

Her appearance was undoubtedly meticulously refined, vastly different from her usual image, exquisitely demonstrating grace and nobility.

The crowd’s eyes flickered slightly, considering such dressing as not fitting for attending a feast, but rather to assert dominance and show off, which led many to glance at Song Ci with an air of awaiting drama.

Back then, although it wasn’t made explicit between the Song Family and the Wen Family, the gossipy rumors alluded that these two families intended for an alliance by marriage. However, before it was made explicit, Prince Zhou intervened.

Now, at Song Lingsu’s wedding, this concubine Wen dared to come. Is she here to demonstrate her might or to proclaim to everyone that she married the right person?

Song Ci looked at Wen Zishan in that pale pink palace dress, the smile on her lips still wide, yet inwardly she snorted. After all, she’s young and cannot hold back.

No matter how luxurious or dazzling, does she have the qualification to wear bright red and flaunt her might?

Regardless of Wen Zishan’s intentions for coming, once she sees the bride, she will understand what she truly lost. No matter how prestigious she is, she’s still just a concubine who can’t wear bright red.

So indeed, she came to the wrong place.

Wen Zishan was very satisfied with the surprise and envy from the madams and young ladies in the hall, her face becoming more arrogantly straightened, her chin slightly raised, with a faint smile.

She herself didn’t know why she came, whether to affirm to herself that she made the right choice, or to show everyone that she didn’t choose wrongly.

Hoping to untangle this knot in her heart.

So she accompanied Prince Zhou here.

But when Wen Zishan stood in front of Song Ci, saw the elderly lady’s smile, and looked into her eyes, her body involuntarily stiffened slightly, nearly losing her balance.

Her own arrogance and flamboyance seemed laughably absurd and futile before those eyes that seemed to see through everything.

The clown was always herself.

”Madam Song, congratulations on your wonderful granddaughter-in-law,” Madam Wen said with a smile, bowing to Song Ci.

Wen Zishan also bowed. Though she was a concubine of the Imperial Family, her status was far from exempting her from bowing to Song Ci, whom even the Emperor respected. For her, he even shamed her mother-in-law, Consort Fan; now, Consort Fan still hasn’t regained the Emperor’s favor.

Thus Prince Zhou approached the Song Family to soften up, and she came along.

”Madam Wen, there’s no need for such courtesies. Someone, please find seats for Madam Wen and Concubine Wen and serve them tea. By the way, how come your elder lady isn’t here?” Song Ci asked with a smile.

Madam Wen respectfully replied, ”Just so you are aware, our elder lady has caught a chill these past two days due to being indulgent in the cold. The Imperial Physician advised her to rest, so she did not come but asked me to convey her congratulations to you.”

Song Ci politely said, ”Indeed, she needs to be taken care of. With our old bones, we can’t withstand even a slight chill unlike the young ones. It’s been a long time since we saw Concubine Wen, your appearance has become even more outstanding, with an elegant aura. They all say the Royal Family truly nurtures someone well, and it seems true.”

Madam Wen’s smile stiffened momentarily but she maintained it with an effort.

Wen Zishan smiled again and curtsied, ”You flatter me, ma’am.”

”Did you come along with Prince Zhou, or with the Princess? Why is Consort Zhou not in sight?” Song Ci glanced at the door once more.
