The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

On the early morning of New Year’s Day, Song Ci learned of the accident involving Song Zhiqing only after Dan Ge’er had come to pay his respects to her, when the servants finally dared to inform her.

Song Ci’s face turned dark, and she asked, ”How is he doing now?”

”He hasn’t woken up yet, the Prime Minister has invited Imperial Physician Cheng to treat him,” said Nanny Gong.

Song Ci replied, ”He’s truly a worrisome one. I knew he would eventually cause trouble.”

She lowered her head and spoke to Dan Ge’er in her arms, ”Dan Ge’er, you play by yourself in the east wing for now, Grandma will go and check on your Third Uncle.”

Dan Ge’er said, ”Grandma, Dan Ge’er wants to go too.”

”Good boy, it’s quite chaotic at your Third Uncle’s place right now, wait until things settle a bit before you go. Or you can first go play with your elder brothers?”

Dan Ge’er pouted his rosy little mouth and nodded.

Only then did Song Ci call for a soft sedan chair to be carried to the warm pavilion in the front yard. Upon arrival, Mrs. Jiang and Song Zhicheng came out to greet her and assisted her out of the sedan chair.

”We had to disturb Mother after all.”

Song Ci said, ”Such a serious incident, how could I not be disturbed? How is he doing now?”

”Imperial Physician Cheng is currently treating the Third Lord. The elder brother is inside too. Please wait a moment, Mother,” replied Song Zhicheng as he supported her.

”It’s really unsettling during New Year’s,” Song Ci entered the warm pavilion, where outside, Mrs. Lu sat in a daze, looking lost.

Mrs. Jiang walked over and said, ”Third sister-in-law, Mother is here.”

Mrs. Lu looked over, stood up, and gave Song Ci a courteous bow, ”Mother...”

As soon as she spoke, tears rolled down her face.

Seeing her in this state, Song Ci opened her mouth, sighed deeply, and said, ”Don’t rush to conclusions, let’s see what the Imperial Physician has to say.”

Mrs. Lu nodded.

Since Imperial Physician Cheng was still diagnosing, Song Ci did not disturb them. She waited outside, and it wasn’t long before Song Zhiyuan and Imperial Physician Cheng emerged.

Mrs. Lu stood up suddenly, twisting the handkerchief that had become a salted pickle in her hands, looking nervously at them.

Imperial Physician Cheng saw Song Ci and greeted her with a bow.

Song Ci said, ”No need for formalities, Imperial Physician Cheng. To trouble you during the New Year is our family’s fault. How is our Third Lord doing now?”

”I heard he fell from a high place, and the carriage toppled and pressed him beneath it. The minor injuries have been treated by Imperial Physician Chen; the most severe injury is to the spinal column. I have examined, there is a fracture, and it’s been medicated and splints were fixed. He cannot be moved easily...”

Mrs. Lu couldn’t help but interrupt him, ”Imperial Physician Chen said the injury here could cause paralysis, Imperial Physician Cheng, is it true?”

Imperial Physician Cheng glanced at her, although reluctant, he nodded, ”The spinal column is extremely important, any fracture or injury can easily cause lower limb paralysis. Currently, Lord Song is still unconscious, and we cannot determine the condition of his waist and lower limbs until he wakes up.”

Upon hearing this, Mrs. Lu’s face turned even paler, and she said, ”How high is the probability of paralysis, in your opinion?”

Imperial Physician Cheng said, ”Very high.”

Mrs. Lu’s mind blanked out, and she fell backward, quickly caught by Mrs. Jiang.

Seeing this, Song Ci asked, ”If it is paralysis, is there any chance for recovery with rehabilitation afterward? Meaning, can assisting movements and trying to walk or move help?”

Imperial Physician Cheng said, ”I’ve never seen anyone with lower limb paralysis stand again. As the Madam mentioned, being able to sit in a wheelchair is considered fortunate.”

Upon hearing this judgment, Mrs. Lu fainted again.
